Thank-you, Graeme! I remember the Great Dane! We have a big dog, except he's got the body of a Mini Schnauzer. 😄 Didn't bark as much as some till recently, but now a terrier has moved in next-door, we've got a chorus! We'll get a handle on it now 🙂

Thank you well explained especially about the door going the door barking first and then your shouting at the dog I will try this with my information and hopefully it can help my Chihuahuas and hopefully this will help then stop barking when the door buzzer goes off. I have a similar issue when I walk them all outside with them barking at other other dogs for no reason we have tried doing this with my daughter jug but one of the chihuahua barking repeatedly runs around in a circle the barges her Any ideas plz?

Anything for a neighbour's dog or ignorant neighbors? Local council cited regulation (or some excuse) and washed their hands of it.

My neighbours have 5 big mastiff type dogs,They kept them outside and as the yard was next to a footpath the dogs raved most of the time when people walked past! Our UK Env Health team were on the verge of prosecuting the owners but instead told them to keep them in the house. I don`t think our council wanted to spend the money on court costs,instead they told ME to take out a private prosecution..... Now some bark in the house and some outside. Do they correct them? Sadly no.They are rarely walked and I think bark for attention that they don`t get. Ignorant selfish dog owners make me so angry!

How do you stop a dog barking at the telly when you are in a wheelchair?

I would keep a lead on your dog, (not holding it) when he/she barks, pick up the lead, bring him beside you, then move your chair between you and the TV, with a "No." Hope that helps. You may have to keep that up for a while till they get the message. 🙂

Is this still happening? If so, I assume they get enough walks? Is it a senior dog? That can happen. Are you at home when it happens? If so, you'll need to watch for the signs: sniffing, circling.. and act immediately. I'd keep a lead on your dog, and as soon as you see the signs pick up the lead and take them outside. If they go...praise and reward. (Have treats in your pocket!) You'll need to keep doing that till it becomes a habit. Meanwhile, try using a detterant spray on their favourite spots indoors.
