Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

Remember "Distribber"...? I met them at a big festival I had my film in, they told me about what they did. They did a great job of getting a film of mine out there on iTunes, Amazon, etc... and it was selling (I know at least 50 people who bought it) and guess what... in my data, it said "zero" sales. None. Not a dollar. And, people were talking about it on social media, Film Threat gave it an amazing review... and still, $0. I asked them what was going on and they go, "Oh, there was a glitch... it's fixed now." Nope, didn't make a dollar. I'm glad they went out of business.

I know a distributor who takes the first $68,000 but won't promote your movie at all.

What's your reaction? Do you agree that filmmakers shouldn't be so quick to blame the distributor if their movie performs poorly?

As far as I’m concerned, anyone who handles your money in Hollywood is guilty until proven innocent. And they have nobody but themselves to blame for this earned reputation The phrase “Hollywood accounting” was coined for a reason. Don’t ever forget that

I Would NEVER trust a distributor ... Distributors have no intention of ever paying the filmmakers if they can get away with it.... would you pay your electric bill if no one ever made you do it and there was no threat of your electricity being turned off?

it's literally the distributors job to make a profit for the Filmmaker... it is there one job If they fail at making a profit for the filmaker, they did not do exactly what the filmaker hired them to do The distributor should literally pay the filmaker money when the distributor fails at doing their job

Studios should just set up their own streaming services on a pay per view basis. I know no person that goes to a movie theater anymore.

@@rupertsmith5815 According to a study held in June 2020, just 14 percent of adults said that they strongly preferred seeing a movie for the first time in a theater, and 36 percent said that they would much rather stream the film at home than visit a cinema. That trend has only increased over the 3 years since the poll.
