I have two phones too. But one is a dedicated work phone which I use exclusively for work and has all the necessary apps that help me with my work. The other one is what I call my fun phone. It has netflix, games, everything that you can consider entertainment on it. When I work, I put my fun phone away to avoid distractions. When I am just by myself with nothing to do, I always use the fun phone.

@@coolppl2468 it's not as convenient to carry a tablet or iPad because of the size. I have an iPad and a tablet but I leave them at home and honestly I hardly ever even use them...if I'm home I use my laptop if not my phones. The biggest convenience of using more than 1 phone is the size. You can increase your productivity significantly adding another handheld device which allows you to be able to do so many more things at once since you have the internet at your fingertips and more apps than you could ever imagine but you can still put your phones in your back pockets if you need your hands free. I usually have 1 phone in each hand, looking at info on one and creating docs, posts, etc on the other. Multitasking is an understatement in my world. 😊

I'm glad for the extra justification and I'm not alone. For the past several years, I've been using 2 cells with 2 different numbers. Everyone has my main cell number that I have for over 15 years and only my personal friends/family have my second "secret" number. At nights and weekends I put my main cell on "do not disturb" and only allow a few people/numbers that can call through just in case. I love relaxing on weekends, and using my private cell that my boss and unwanted people do not have and cannot disrupt my peace. It keeps me a little sane.

WOW... This is something to think about!!! I am in the midst of moving back to Albuquerque, New Mexico to RE-Open my Acting Studio... I have to get a NEW number because it is different area code... and I think it looks more professional if we're in the same AREA CODE... and I was going to let go of the old phone number... but after reading your post... I may not do that. HUM... definitely something to think about... Thank you for your post.

Luis Krotz: makes sense, especially the two carriers, IMO. Maybe two networks to avoid congestion / problems on one of them. After my background of working on mainframes where when the machine was down you were just SCREWED (before the ability to have system redundancy affordably), it seems like paradise being able to work around that whole problem cheaply and easily. Computer hardware is so cheap now, I've already been doing that for about a decade at home with my laptops. And with a smart phone and a landline with internet DSL and Wifi, there's no single point of failure for any of the hardware, including network connectivity.

Enables me to look things up, use GPS without having to be on speaker, keep something handy or qued up, technical service, security authentication, double freebies, zoom while setting up what I'm learning about, Facebook videos like you said (FB needs to fix that!), etc. Only annoyance is snap chat only allowing one device at a time.

I prefer to use one phone with two numbers. For example I have a iPhone 12 Pro Max and my personal number is the e-sim and my work number would be the physical sim. On the week ends or when I’m not working I put the work line on always divert or just switch it off. The problem with having two phones is charging two phones every night, mounting two phones whilst driving, connecting to car Bluetooth systems etc. I do a lot of multitasking on my iPhone whilst having my AirPods Pro in my ears. Great video by the way.

@rogergeyer9851
@rogergeyer9851 2 жыл бұрын
Johannes: Yes, but it depends on the nature of the tasks, and what you're actually doing. Also, people have different personalities and ability to focus. So just because it wouldn't work for you doesn't mean it wouldn't work for some folks. About 35 years ago, I was an application programmer at IBM in a completely different world (re the state of computer tech). But productivity and due dates were central to the business and one's career, just like they are today. I told my manager I was having a terrible time getting enough programming done with all the stupid phone calls I was on much of the day (with a phone in one hand -- headsets weren't common much less normal back then). Given that I was already working a ton of overtime and was running a seriously critical project re dates, I got a speakerphone installed that day which fixed that problem right away (funny how IBM could move fast in certain cases). Now, roughly 95% or more of those stupid conference calls only took 5% of my attention (they'd have 20 people in them, wasting 17 peoples' time a lot). So I could program / test away and keep one ear out for my name or something key, and get over 90% of my programming productivity in AND attend the mandatory calls and keep up with what I needed to know. So it really depends on what it is re the nature of the tasks. OTOH, trying to solve complex IT problems over a cell phone while driving isn't so great. When I realized how distracted that made my driving, I would only pull over first, give them a strategy or quick solution, and then drive to work while NOT on the cell phone.

@@rogergeyer9851 you and I think alike apparently!! My dad and I used to bump heads all the time when it came to the topic of multitasking. I'm ADHD so my brain ALWAYS goes 90 to nothing and I am never doing just one thing at a time...which I know isn't necessarily a positive thing because there is such a thing as being present in the moment and taking everything in just enjoying NOTHING but fully embracing ONE thing/place/person, etc...which someone who is a mega-multitasker (haha...that reminded me of "mega-pint" when I typed that 🤣) like I am isn't good at doing just ONE thing without feeling like I'm wasting time not doing more. So my dad's mentality was if I'm doing more than one thing at a time then I'm reducing the effectiveness or accuracy of each task (so if I'm doing 2 things at once, I'm only able to do each task at 50%), which is NOT true. So I challenged him to check my work for accuracy if he thinks I can only half ass each thing I'm doing while I'm multitasking. He had nothing to say when he did just that because he found that my work was 100% accurate even while multitasking. None of us can say one way or another whether a person can or can't do anything unless we are them. My brain works very differently than the majority of people, which for every positive there is a negative I can assure you. I can multitask like a mf'r (excuse my language) and hyperfocus on things spending hours consumed in whatever task I'm working on but I have zero sense of time. I struggle with time blindness that ALWAYS causes problems with other people because they never understand how I can be consumed with things and not realize/know how much time has passed...I can't explain it...but it absolutely happens ALL THE TIME. I've spent my entire life having people argue with me or complain about how I do things or why I do things the way l do and it all books boils down to the way my ADHD brain works. You won't understand it unless you have ADHD and I can't explain it...but my isn't wrong compared to your way and your way isn't wrong compared to my way. They are just DIFFERENT ways and that's perfectly fine. I don't have to understand your way and you don't have to understand mine to respect and appreciate each one individually. If we both work on the same task and both end up with the same end result, does it matter how either one of us achieved that result??? No!!! There's no right or wrong way to do things as long as you end up with the same result, just different ways! 🎤 (mic drop)...getting off my soapbox now. Sorry! 😁

Great video. Having 2 phones is surely not for everyone - not for people who have troubles multitasking, not for ppl who are not interested in gaming/social media. For me it was like opening my eyes for the 1st time - discovery of watching YT while writing emails, commenting, talking on the phone, writing notes/novels, posting on socials. Finally, I have time to do everything. My phones are: better one at home, rugged for outdoors. I use both only at home, one is strictly for outside. If you are a multitasker and social media creator - try it, you won't regret it!

Most of the reasons you mentioned are very true, especially the fact that on some apps can't be using it AND listen to a podcast at the same time. also instant voice recording available at anytime in case of a phone call received. i don't think i'd ever lend my phone to someone tho! but the biggest factor is, i've never been with a dead phone in 1 years. doesnt matter what the battery capacity of your phone is, someday it's gonna die on you. if you got two phones, you'll barely notice. also, my main phone broke unexpectedly a month ago and had to go get repaired for an entire day. haven't missed out on any work because of my second phone. if i didnt it would have been a nightmare. having two phones is one of the best and underrated life hacks ever.

I have 3 phones and a tablet. 1 Number though, and while my plan doesn't allow for hotspot, I use an app to get around that so my 2 other phones and my tablet will work off that hotspot. Main reason is the Tablet is old, so I have remote desktop for when i'm out I can use my pc at home while on the go. My 1st ever phone - iPhone 8+ is just old, but my parents didnt wanna get rid of it so gave it to me and when i bought my 1st phone (2nd I had) the Samsung A31, AT&T said it wont work on their new network in 2022, so they sent me a free Samsung Galaxy S9+ and so I just use the hotspot to enjoy my games and make vids and socials on that one, use the old iPhone for the same plus as a iPod (do they even make iPods anymore?) and the Main as a hotspot and main Communicator. Ofc It has battery backup due to the strain of Hotspot, but all the other phones & Tablet use Google Voice for calling. Very effective and fun. Plus dont need that pc with me either since a lighter, cheeper, alternative option using the tablet is here! So yay!

💯 agree! I have 2 phones as well, it helps me a lot working in different states. My Miami # is an iPhone 11- that I use for Instagram & LA # is a cheap smartphone that I use for FB, KZfaq however is on both. I like your trick for recording, I often have clients back track on their own words- recording would be nice

Ive been using 2 phones for almost 7 years now. It started since I had an app development company earlier and I was also a tester for our apps on iOS and Android. But since then I've just gotten so used to having 2 phones. My primary is an iPhone SE for calls and messages and emails. And my Huawei P30 pro is my main content consumption device. Both phones last a whole day without any issues. I doubt any single phone out in the market would. P30 pro specifically since it has an IR blaster. Otherwise any android would do.

sounds like you need a large screen android rather than 2 iphones. Samsung has split screen, pop out apps, dual social media app support, secure folder (you can install the same app in a separate virtual secure folder) etc

Also I couldnt find my way home, got terribly lost after a wedding going with my family, all because one phone died. I now have 2 mob phones.

Currently using Asus Zenfone 9 and iPhone 14 Pro Max both on service to very much get the best of both worlds. These phones are literally so amazing in their own way and I'll never go back to one phone. I usually leave my iPhone in my backpack or my truck just in case of emergencies or a dead battery on my Android. I just think the connections are much quicker on Android I find.

Crown Victoria: There are these things called phone holsters in all sizes, etc. I have one that can hold 2 6+ inch phones and a little equipment or one phone and a lot of equipment, with a nice belt loop so it doesn't interfere with me at all. And that way I can have reading glasses, a big phone in a case, OTG cables, backup media, a small charging brick, etc. with no problem and not interfering with my hands. It certainly doesn't look like "a burden" for him, BTW. Depends on your mindset, what you're used to, how you plan, etc. Oh, and if you think carrying something is a "burden", try a case with a large laptop, various backup drives, cables, USB portable DVD drive, small cases for all the peripherals, charging gear, mouse, etc. etc. THAT gets annoying real quick, even with a shoulder strap. It's all relative. To the extent it means he doesn't have to rely on a laptop, large phone, etc. when he travels, it's a brilliant, cheap, and convenient solution.

I saw several commenters on various articles just yesterday talking about their backup phone. I kind of wondered why they needed that. This video explains a LOT. Thanks for explaining all that. (I thought of some of it, but not most of it). It's a very different world now than it was during my career (I retired a dozen years ago and mainly carried a cell phone in case I had car trouble, etc). Especially all the times this allows eliminating lugging around a laptop, etc. -- for people who need their phone often and their phone is CRITICAL to their productivity, this makes a lot of sense.

This is a very great video thank you! I am an entertainer, dancer, artist, I go live on TikTok all of the time and was thinking about how it increase my productivity if I get two phones. I always end up needing to play music and it's always a hassle because then I would have to bring my laptop, put it on the bluetooth and connect it with another power source in order to get music while I'm live so I can dance. Two phones would really help this concept top where I can just have to bring my 2 phones instead of a backpack whereever I go. Not even including the power brick that it would take in order to power the laptop for over 1 hour. As well as my power indulging activity of going live on my phone all the time. I could never accept calls if I needed to or look something up if I needed to know something. I couldn't reply to texts or it would pause my livestream and lose viewers and connectivity with the live. These are all situations that can be helped with the use of 2 phones. So I believe I will get 2 phones in the need of extra productivity in the time that I have. Time is limited, If you learn how to spend your time wisely and in maximum productivity while also considering the time to relax and chill in order to be happy, you should always better every aspect of yourself that you might have.

The only problem is when i takes out these 2 phones in public area, peoples see me like i'm a spy or "That's the richest man i've seen" 😂 Even actually it just 1 entry level phone and 1 old flagship from 2015.
