Btw, in many regions of Russia, we have several official languages, as Russia is a very multinational country: about 190 ethnic groups, each with their own language, culture, and traditions.

My 10 year old son loves Russian alphabet since he was 4 (he is in the autism spectrum, so he tends to focus on things he likes🤗 and Russian alphabet is one of the languages he loves). He learned it from KZfaq and has been fascinated with the sound and the way it's written. So I learn it through him🥰🥰 And since he is expose to Tagalog, Ilonggo (These are Philippines main language and my dialect), Spanish and English he is also exposing himself to Turkish, Arabic, and Russian. And that's why he amazes everytime. And you amaze me by showing us around Russia🥰🥰🥰🥰

I have heard this from a Romanian inhabitant of Transylvania! That sounds so great! And I believe it can be true, as if you learn a foreign language, you can better understand the feelings of the native speakers of this language! As Eli said in this video, she translates "sayings" or thoughts she has in Russian into English or something else. It is very true that without exercise we forget the languages we have learned. Thank you for your insight!!! It's important for countries were they speak more than one language, around the world!

Vlada, That's nice to hear and makes me happy. Because after the age of 60 I began studying more than 25 languages. :-D For example, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Polish, Albanian, Yakut, Italian, Spanish, Romanian, etc. etc. All through internet resources. And I recently began learning Ukrainian too. Obviously very little of each language. It takes more time and effort to get advanced than I have available. And Arabic and Tigrinya are too difficult for me without a teacher, but I'm trying. ;-) Indo-european languages are much easier. Before 60 (I'm 75 now) I could only speak Swedish (my only native language), English, Japanese, German, Russian and very little Bosnian/SerboCroat. Vrlo malo. Zaboravio sam mnogo. ;-) I think it is important to be able to understand at least a little in many languages, and above all, understand about them and how they are related or not related. To see and enjoy the similarities and differences. Not ridicule other languages or dialects; they don't sound "funny". Every language and every dialect is optimal and super-best for the individual speaker of it. Молодец что учишь русский. В школе выбор был между английским и немецким языком. Выбрал немецкий , потому что мать знала немецкий. Сейчас познания в английском чуть больше , чем в немецком😊

@@eclecticmn4838 There is a respectable amount of grammatical similarities among Turkic languages, Korean, Mongolian, Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian, Japanese etc. However, Turkish and Korean are totally different in vocabulary.

Go to Paris! 😄 As for mixing Russian and Tatar, it's a similar situation in southwest USA. People mix English and Spanish a lot. We call it 'Spanglish.' You can also sometimes see people having a conversation with one speaking Spanish, and the other English.

Я Французский, также изучаю русский язык в течение 5 лет, я хотел поехать в Россию только с любовью моей жизни. В сентябре я поехал в Новосибирск, чтобы встретиться со своим другом по переписке. Это было потрясающе в течение 3 недель, как в кино. К сожалению, мне пришлось уехать из-за мобилизации. И отношения на расстоянии между нами не сложились. Я действительно рад, что ты решила изучать французский. Италия и Франция - действительно две страны, которые россияне ценят больше всего. Я надеюсь, что однажды ты приедешь во Францию !

Hello from a Turkish viewer who was born and living in Germany. The same goes for my family and friends. We mix both languages into an interesting mix of both worlds 😂. And even more interesting is the fact that I understand some words and phrases when you spoke Tatar. So keep up the good work and I am looking forward to learn Russian (one day) and more about the russian soul.

Thanks for sharing Eli. I speak 5 languages myself. I was born and raised in Myanmar and we spoke Burmese language at home. My maternal grandma was from the Mon ethnic group and only spoke Mon to me. I used to be able to speak it well as a child but now have trouble, even though I understand it. I lived in Thailand for 1.5 years and learned Thai as well. While there I lived with an ethnic minority also from Myanmar called Kayin and learned their language called Sgaw Kayin. I of course also speak English as I moved to the US in high school and have lived here ever since. My good friend from high school was from Ukraine but her mother was from Kazan so they also spoke Russian and Tatar. She used to visit in the summer and bring back gifts from Tatarstan.

I am from The Czech Republic. To be able speaking in 5 languages is amazing! For me Russian is a nice language. I learnt it for 3 years more than 30 years ago when I was on the elementary school. Because Czech is slavic language as Russian (and I was young boy) it wasn’t difficult. But because of cyrillic reading and writing wasn’t so easy. After that I learnt German for several years and I don’t like this language and I forgot it completely. And I started learning English when I was nearly 30.

Russian can sound harsh haha. But so can Dutch. Or German. Any language can sound harsh. I have learned that it is one of the most beautiful languages. When spoken softly it sounds like a language of love. How beautiful is the sound of the word ''Lyubov''''. Very musical too. I like some Russian singers, and they sound magical to me. They're always in my playlists.

@@ryanolson2538 just cannot agree with you. I really like how your language sounds, German singing is especially beautiful, no matter what direction of music - from opera to rock or folk music. Perhaps the sound of the German language also depends on the speaker, it can sound both more rude or just amazing - and this is one of its virtues. In fact, there is such a feature in the Russian language, it allows you to use a rich palette of sounds, but if a person does not want or does not know how to invest in intonation and choose the right words, then the language can sound quite rude.

La lingua italiana,oltre che nel Canton Ticino della Svizzera,è parlata anche nella Repubblica di San Marino,nello Stato Della Città Del Vaticano,a Malta ,in alcune località croate e slovene ed è diffuso moltisimo in Argentina,in Albania, in Corsica e si parla ancora in alcune località dell'Etiopia,dell'Eritrea e della Libia. La lingua italiana è la quarta lingua più studiata nel mondo (addirittura prima della lingua francese,che è la quinta lingua più studiata nel mondo).

Eli you are better at honouring your Tartar culture than me with Scottish Gaelic. In Wales people keep their language alive, which is very similar to Brittonic, the language of the Ancient Britons. It's amazing to speak five languages. I used to speak Italian and fell in love in Italy and with the whole country. I loved Tivoli and Rome but then I focused on Spanish and that's my second language. I didn't use my Italian so forgot it, although I understood what you were saying. I used to speak Portuguese too and feel in love with Lisboa and the surrounding countryside but again I let that language go but still listen to Fado. Also let my Mandarin (my Manarin, which was rubbish, never really grasped it, loved writing the characters and various sentences, but like you say, if you don't keep practising, you lose the language, spoken or written!) go too! I'd like to resurrect my French though. That's my goal at the moment. I love Brittany and Finisterre, as well as Le Mont Saint Michel. What a lovely vodcast. Really enjoyed listening to you speaking in your five languages, including Tartar! Also enjoy hearing about your passion for Swahili. Thank you so much. 🙏😀

It is sad that Scottish Gaelic and other Celtic languages are little used now. My friend is studying Irish because he loves the culture of this country, but when he visited Ireland, in Dublin he simply had no one to talk to 😅 Only in the west of the country you can find someone to chat with!

I am from Uganda and I speak Luganda, English, and some Spanish. I would like to learn all of the world's languages so that I can be able to communicate with anybody on this planet. It's fascinating that you can speak all of those languages and you sound very fluent. No wonder you teach others how to speak Russian. I would love to learn Russian. It sounds fascinating. I also would like to learn German, French, Chinese, Japanese, and some other African languages like Yoruba, Ndebele, Xhosa, Zulu. Like I said, I want to learn all of the languages there is in the world.

Συμφωνώ. Both languages have a Grammar that is not too dissimilar, and both languages are constructed in a logical way. I have learned both as foreign languages.

Hello. I am from Iran and I speak Azeri. I must say I was quite surprised that I understood most of what you said in Tatar. I think Tatar and Azeri are the most similar of all Turkic languages.

I'm fluent, more or less, in six langauges: Swedish (mother tongue), English (practically bilingual), French (very good), German (I understand it fairly well but not too assured about speaking it -. should brush up on the grammar and stuff), Danish and Norwegian (the last two are cognates of Swedish and there's a high degree of mutual intelligiblity). Working to add Russian as a seventh! :) When I was in my teens I wanted to learn Latin as well, but never really had the opportunity....

During the Second World War my grandfathers younger brother and sister were deported to near Perm. After the attack of the Germans they were released from the work camps. They both were taught the Tatar language at the local schools. When they returned to Poland they would use it as their secret language. Every language has unique features that do not readily translate. I think it’s beautiful you know 5. I recall a old Czech saying “learn a new language earn a new soul”. I think this saying captures the essence of learning a new language and it’s unique ways of seeing the world. And please never loose your Tatar language ❤

I love your channel! Keep them coming! My girlfriend and I are in our third week in France (near Avignon, Provence) and are loving it. We started learning French a couple months before coming here and can just barely make the simplest thoughts understood. You should listen to your mother and develop your Tatar. It would be a shame to lose another language in the world. Hundreds, maybe thousands, have been lost in the last several hundred years due to nationalism and globalisation and each represents a unique way of thinking and being in the world, treasures that, once lost, can never be regained. By the way, the English expression is "book worm," not "book warm."

Eli, here in South Africa we also learn to speak English from the first years in school. My mother language is Afrikaans. Most South Africans can speak at least two languages. 🇿🇦♥️

I decided to take IELTS exam 2,5 years ago and started to look for videos on KZfaq. I stumble upon a ginger Russian girl's KZfaq channel which had 3 thousand subscriber or so. Wowww, I hadn't realized you reached nearly 400,000 subs. now 😯👏🏻💐 I guess you removed those videos about IELTS but it was interesting to watch your journey from those videos to Vietnam and Italy, Africa 👌🏻 Keep it up!

Eli, you will surprise yourself. You never fully forget anything you learn. If you were in a situation where you needed to recall language you would. As a student and a teacher I have discovered that after learning some university level maths and not using it for twenty years I was able to quickly relearn it when a student asked me how to do that maths. You have not forgotten those two languages, if you need to recall them they will come to mind easily.

Your knowledge of and speaking of English is great. I have two "adopted" granddaughters from Kazakhstan who use Russian as their native language. Now the younger one, Lera is in the US and working in Seattle after getting her Masters degree in Cedar City, UT and the older is in Mexico City learning her 3'rd language of Spanish. Your English is great but you do still have a noticeable accent. The younger granddaughter in Seattle has very little accent left and the older one in Mexico speaks English very well also while also learning her Spanish.

Priviet Eli. I really enjoyed this video and the content you always share overall. I totally related to you when it comes to ethnic minority languages. I grew up in a place where we have an ethnic language (Basque) but unfortunately I was much more exposed to the "stronger" languages that are also spoken there (French & Spanish). As a consequence, as a child / teenager I was not interested in practising a language that is spoken in just a small area and and for this reason, I decided to learn other foreign languages and traveling abroad instead. Later, I realised how valuable and beautiful minority languages are and I totally reconnected with the Basque language. Nowadays, I try to use it as much as I can and I am a strong defender of minority languages and endangered languages. Also, I really hope to learn Russian someday, it is such a rich language :)

I have been learning Russian since I was 14 years old, I am 49 now. My Russian is so bad, but I got lots of practice with a Russian girlfriend from Bishkek. I was born in Brazil so my native language is Portuguese. I learned English and French in school, then learned Spanish when I moved to Miami. Now I also speak Korean because I married a Korean woman and moved to Korea. Although I never learned it, I can also speak Italian too, Latin languages are so close to each other 😂 I love being multilingual! Пока!

Hi Eli, I too speak 5 languages, and I can relate to the idea of fully comprehending a language but not being fully proficient speaking it because of lack of everyday practice. It is difficult to keep up with all 5 of them, but I try. I enjoy watching your travels and the content of your vlogs. Do not delay your trip to Paris! 😊

Hi Eli! I was born in Canada and my first language is French. France used to have a large colony in North America called “Nouvelle France”, but the colony was lost in one of the British wars of conquest. French is still spoken, and even used as the main language, in some parts of what is now Canada. By the way, you speak French surprisingly well for a girl who has not spoken the language in many years. I also speak English, but I am not as gifted as you are for learning languages.

Well manage of these languages (especially foreign one) shows how much effort you've work on 👍👍👍 When first watching your video, it's really surprising that finding a Russian KZfaqr introduce your country and culture in English. It's so friendly for ppl like me don't understand Russian. Your videos are with nice pace and great content that really shows us the beauty of Russia and your travels to many places. They also show us you're not just only a teacher to the audience but also still learning in many ways and the positive attitude is quite encouraging. :)

Hello Eli! I am Italian and I speak two languages: English and French. Being from a valley, Susa Valley, which is very close to France, I have the chance to go to France very often and moreover the dialect of my valley, Provençal Franc, has many similarities with French. My grandmother was from Haute Maurienne, not far from the Italian border, so I love French and the French in general. I love foreign languages but Russian is so difficult, the alphabeth is completely different from ours. Anyway you are very skilled and your Italian is really good. Thank you for this beautiful video.

For some reason, I've always struggled with the correct way to pronounce the word "Tatar", but after hearing you say it using the actual Tatar pronunciation, it just sounds right. It seems that the stress should be slightly more on the second syllable rather than the first, and it rolls off the tongue more naturally that way. I envy your ability to speak and converse in a number of languages, as that provides you a window into other cultures and the larger world. As a Texan, Spanish is the language I hear the most after English, and even after taking classes for it in grade school, I've never used Spanish enough to be truly fluent in the language - I can follow along to a limited extent, but that's about it. Funny thing is, I can read Spanish-language newspapers and websites pretty well. Your English really is very good. The occasional mispronunciations or grammar issues don't cause me any difficulty in following what you're saying, and sometimes it provides an insight into how a Russian-speaking person may think about how language works, and that's kind of cool. Anyway, this was a fun and informative video - thanks!

As a languages enthusiast I LOVED this video. I am spanish so my native language is Spanish. At school we learn English and I can understand and speak it almost perfectly. At highschool I took 3 years of French until level B1 or so but I never practiced again and I forgot it :((( but I plan to re-learn it! Right now I am learning German, which I can speak pretty good, and your beautiful language, Русский язык. I also started Italian in Duolingo and, being a native spanish speaker, Italian is pretty easy because it is very similar. In the future I would like to learn Arabic, and other languages as well but I don't know which yet. I reaaaally enjoyed your video, I was able to understand most of what you said and spot the differences between what you were saying and the subtitles (except for Tatar) :)))) This is the first time I comment on one of your videos so I guess it is time to say how much I love them! I love discovering cultures, specially those from the countries whose language I'm learning. And the videos where you speak to Russians are super helpful to practice my hearing

This is impressive. All the more so since it sounds like you are recording this live in the studio without a rehearsal! My late stepmother was fluent in Russian and loved the Russian culture. She translated the letters of American soldiers who were part of the Western countries invasion of Russia after World War I.

I just watched your video and you are very talented. The more languages you speak, the more intelligent and wise you become. However, listening to you speaking Russian made the language so beautiful. Your experience with English reminded me of myself when I wanted to learn Russian so that I could read the great Russian literature in Russian. Since I didn't live in a Rusdian speaking milieu, I forgot everything I learned. Now, I need to go back and learn Russian. Thank you again for all your insightful videos.

I didn‘t know that Tatar and Turkish were so much alike as to be able to understand each other. Girl, you‘ve got quite a few languages under your belt already, this is as impressive as the whole amount of experiences you boast… I have lived abroad most of my life too and speak Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Italian and German. The latter I still struggle with, so it’s a bit of a personal challenge really haha. All I need is to get myself immersed into a social environment and practice conversation, as I already understand much. Who knows, maybe when I’m done with German I might want to start with Russian, just to be able to read Dostoyevski in the original language. As you put it, that may be worth the effort…

Для меня, как чеха, русский язык не является так сложным, только я его так долго не учусь и ещё не знаю как говорить так, чтоб я звучал естественно. Азбуку я выучил за неделю, грамматика мне кажется более лёгкой чем чешская грамматика и верю, что спустя несколько лет улучшусь.

I really love the original Russian accent, when they speak foreign languages it's like music to my ears. A Russian friend had to endure months of speaking lessons to get rid of her Russian accent, she is now a radio presenter here in Germany.

To me Russian sounds like a language for a bed time story for children, it's very soft and gentle. 🧸📚 I'm from Croatia, so also Slavic, but my language doesn't sound similar to yours, at least to me. When I visited UK, some people asked us if we were Russian.

I am from India and speak Hindi. But, I have ALWAYS been fascinated by Russia, its history and language. I started learning Russian but couldn't devote required time for it. I'll definitely learn it one day and also visit 🇷🇺. Its one of the life goals for me! Love from India ! 🇮🇳

Ho risentito più volte, ho ascoltato e riascoltato altrettante volte decine di lingue e dialetti del mondo, alla ricerca di una lingua più bella della mia, una lingua che mi affascinasse, che mi convincesse a preferirla alla mia. No, nessuna mi ha convinto e non mi ci provo neanche a studiarne una, anche perché non ne ho bisogno, per fortuna. Leggo "L'infinito" di Leopardi, lo recito, in italiano e, ancor oggi, a settant'anni suonati, provo una fortissima emozione. Seguo i tuoi bellissimi cortometraggi e, sinceramente, ti preferisco quando parli in russo e non in inglese. Brava, continua così.

This video makes me want to dive back into learning Russian again, i've been distracted for awhile and i got to get back to learning it! My main language now is English, but being born in Russia and then adopted to the USA i have always wanted to come back to my homeland where the journey began and be among my people. Your english is very well, you can use the word high to describe your feelings of elation and joy in something. You know your stuff and you've used it well Eli. I hope one day i can be fluent enough to be able to visit Russia and hopefully see you in all your Tartar glory haha.

If you learn Serbian you can basically speak Croatian, Bosnian or Montenegrin and perharps the other further from the Serbo-Croatian languages like Slovenian or Bulgarian and Macedonian.

Spasiba Elena for all of the content you make :) I used to learn Russian, German and English in primary school. I continued learning German and English in the secondary and at the university, but nowadays only English has become my second language (I lived in Ireland for 13 yrs). I'm just a beginner in French and Spanish. I used to learn Japanese in my 20's. I keep telling my older son to learn Russian and Chinese, as in my opinion, these are the languages that will become Lingua Franca very soon. I can still read and understand Russian, although not proficient enough to make a conversation. And finally, I speak Polish everyday, as I'm Polish and that's my native language.

Mixing tatar with russian can be consider its own hybrid language. Many cases around the world where people speak mixing languages. I think Tatar language sounds the cooler of all the ones you spoke :)
