I'm an English speaker learning Japanese, and I always thought いただきます referred to receiving food from the person who cooked the meal. "I will receive this life" is even more beautiful. Thank you for explaining its origins!

和尚様の英語には全くクセがありませんね。淀みなく流れるような発音でお話しなさいます。米国に住んでいる身の上ですから、日本文化の素晴らしさを英語で伝えられる方を心から尊敬しております。 和尚様は100点満点です。ありがとうございます。
