I use my headphone cable as a jump rope while listening to music.

I find it silly that people "upgrade" ABYSS headphones cable. The stock cable is made by JPS Labs and it's world-class. Changing the cable to aftermarket IMHO will degrade the headphone's sound. LOL.....

Personally I ordered aftermarket cables after my stock cables broke down and I'm left without music the way I like it for weeks. In my case, I bought them trying to find the most durable ones, and I'm RMAing the stock ones to get a second cable just in case. I'm not expecting the sound quality to change much, just hoping for better travelling durability than my stock hifiman cables :)

I put a Cardas Clear cable on my LCD-4. I heard the cable with my own phones at Canjam. I certainly wasn't expecting to hear a difference over the perfectly good stock cable, let alone on the show floor, with background noise. But I did. Since they offered a discount at the show, I ordered one. The difference is small, but positive. There is a small bump in overall resolution. The sound stage is a little more spacious and wraps around my head more. I sort of preferred the 'sound in front of me' aspect of the stock cable, but over all, there is more three dimensional awareness with the Cardas. Decay is extended, I think, which adds to the spacial cues. Mid range has a slightly sweeter tone, maybe a hair warmer, very clear, but with no sign of harshness. Low mids and bass have more grunt, but also more texture and control. Physically, the cable is a twin cable, each side larger than stock. But it's flexible and not too heavy. It looks and feels very nice. No microphonics either. Although I've stated a laundry list of improvements, I can't stress enough that they are small over stock. I wouldn't recommend the cable at full price, period. If you're really happy with your components and are content not change any of them in search of a different sound, then I would suggest hunting for a deal on this cable. That's the position I was in with it. It's not going to fix anything if you aren't already satisfied with your system. It's an additive upgrade.

I'm really interested in the Superconductor cable, but I could never compare it to the Stcok cable.

Because 90% of the time, the stock cable feels and looks like shit. Changing cables won't change the sound (unless your original cable is absolute ass).

Too bad you don't address the elephant in the room: do cables improve sound quality? You guys are engineers and it would be interesting to hear your take on it. We need more scientific opinions in the hifi world. I understand the truth might be disappointing to hear for some of your customers maybe?

There is a slight noticeable difference in copper and silver cables. Copper is more smooth and silver is more sharp/detailed.
