The sabbath was not a day to give to God, it was a day God gave to Israel, to rest. There is nothing special about the 10 commandments other than they happen to be the first 10, so if you say that you'd better keep the sabbath then you'd better give equal keeping to all 613 commandments. Do you make tassels with a blue thread in them on the corners of your garments? (commandment #25, Numbers 15:38). Probably not. Christians are not obligated, commanded, or even hinted at keeping the Mosaic Law! In fact the law is affirmed as no longer applicable, see Hebrews 7:12 Do we by default use certain aspects of the law? Of course, such as do not murder, do not lie, etc. But those are general moralities already written upon our moral conscious that are not needed as rigid rules (as Christians, because the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a ready guide to our concious, something Israel didn't have). The Mosaic Law had observance commandments, moral commandments, and governance commandments. Because Jesus fulfilled the law, church-age believers in Him are not bound to legal observance of the law, yet we recognize that the moral aspects are still valid boundaries for us before Christ Jesus, because they always have been, even before the law. Keeping the sabbath was an observance command and not a moral command.
