Probably because they care for male and females differently based upon different sex-based needs for the animals.

That's not "intersex". The Lioness had a hormonal response to the medical treatment that caused her to develop male features like the Mane. Did you watch the video.

@@lagopusvulpuz1571 yeah I do get it, I ment in general, they've been found in the wild. Intersex is still unheard of for some people, just mentioned it because the growth of a mane on a lioness can happen also for this reason.

@@KatsyKat Again, this is not an example of intersex in the animal kingdom and bringing it up is irrelevant to this situation. She had a hormonal imbalance (produced too much testosterone and not enough estrogen) that caused her to express male lion secondary sex characteristics (the mane). It's akin to a woman with PCOS and excessive facial hair growth (hirsutism). Intersex is determined at the chromosomal level not the hormonal level because your sex is determined by your DNA.
