Why do some people think reborns are creepy???

Someone I know called me creepy for collecting reborns. Why do so many think and feel this way about this hobby? I hope you enjoy seeing my sweet Sophie 🩷

Sophie is adorable! I was recently watching a crime drama, and when police entered the home of the suspect’s mother, they saw baby dolls lined up on a shelf in the living room, to which one of the officers replied, “Creepy!” So it doesn’t help that tv programs promote that idea. Out of my four kids, two are fine with the dolls and the other two fall into the “creepy” camp.

Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed seeing Sophie 😊 I don’t understand why people think dolls are creepy but I do think it could be from the media. It all started with Chucky I guess 😂 anyway. I suppose it’s not creepy to me because I’m a collector. I just don’t get it but it won’t change what I do 🩷

I have a big collection of hyper realistic FBS and reborns. I have zero support from family. I’ve had a comment from a random person on FB that they look like dead babies. I’ve come to the conclusion quite a while ago that I can’t care. It’s my hobby. It’s what brings me joy and fills my heart. Stay strong and enjoy your babies ❤

🥰 thank you. That persons reaction was shocking, but I do get it. It’s not a mainstream hobby for most. It hurt my feelings at first, but then I got over it. I’m weird, quirky and unique. To me that’s the best way to be. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Life is too short to not someone time doing things that bring you joy! ❤️ 🤗

Oh that’s so interesting! I would think your son may be more likely to say they are creepy. My son is totally supportive but maybe he thinks it’s creepy and just doesn’t say anything 😂 I think what I took the most issue with is this person said I was creepy. I know what others say doesn’t really matter, but it didn’t feel good!

I get people. Do they think it's creepy to collect model ships or trains? Is it creepy to collect paintings or cars? It's art. It's doll collecting. It's A HOBBY. Some people collect antique barbies or stuffed animals. They don't understand the artistic enjoyment that we get from it, so it's creepy? We all know they're not real babies....sheeesh....they don't get it, so they criticize. Go figure.

That's a crappy thing to say. I feel that someone can express that they find the dolls "creepy" but to say the person who collects is creepy, is not okay with me. I get creeped out by many inanimate objects, but I would NEVER call a PERSON creepy for liking said objects. You are definitely NOT creepy. (: xo

🥰 thanks! It felt crappy! But I honestly don’t really care. It just stung for a second because I’d not experienced that type of comment from a person in real life. I do get the creepy comments on my videos , but that’s to be expected. 💗

The word creepy makes it sound like you’re doing something wrong. It’s not. It’s different. You’re not creepy. I mean who would call a comic book collector “creepy”? …no one! You’re not creepy. You enjoy baby’s and collecting just like the rest of us ❤
