Very Good video. Your knowledge of the topic is impressive. Here is my question: Misha - Have you considered adding an approximate cost to purchase (as of the date of the video) and / or a purchase price when you obtained a particular item, along with the year. That would help those of us, like myself, who are often motivated to seek out a particular item after one of your videos.

If you ever want to see what the Ljungman looked like before the modifications to the AG-42B configuration, take a look at the Hakim. Both the serrated charging/dust cover thing, sights, and the magazine latch remained true to the original design on the Hakim rifles. Madsen also produced a dozen or so prototype AG42s with small modifications in an attempt to get the rifle adopted by Denmark, but the Germans in control of the country at the time made arms development difficult. The idea was ultimately dropped when Germany put Madsen to work making guns for the Occupying forces. Also, the development of the rifle was even faster than most people realize. From the time Erik Eklund was ordered to design the rifle to the time the rifle was adopted and accepted for production to begin, only 9 months had elapsed! It has to be one of the fastest development histories of a good rifle design during that time, or perhaps even afterwards.

We have about 20 videos on the Vz.58, some dating back nearly a decade. It was a whitewhale of mine 2 decades ago before the D-Techniks came in. To say I love the thing would be an understatement. Of course as with anything we love, we know both its good and bad aspects. About a year ago, we did a 2 parter; one looking at the Pros, and the other at the Cons. And also, James is a great guy and I knew Alex back when he did TFB-TV too. All in all, most all gun people I've met have been very kind to me.

Swedish pronounciation would have the L silent. (The A sounds like in 'sun' and 'son'. J is like the Y in 'yes'. The U-sound is a bit tricky, but never mind. Just drop the L.)

I do Love me some Swedish Rifles. I've been collecting them for many years. The AG42 is so mild to shoot. And very accurate. I've got a good supply of bottle nose bullets. And a large supply of Spitzer. But what I mostly shoot out of the 42 and 38,s and 96,s is my home rolled 139g lead tips. I have a custom built target rifle useing a K98 receiver and Burris Eliminator 2 scope. It likes my reloads the best. Can get one hole 5 shot groups at 500yrds and around 1.5" at 700. That seems to be were I start spreading out shots. I'm not sure if it's the limit of my barrel or the round itself. Hard to beat a 6.5x55 Swede.

Agreed, great fun. I wish there were more variants to really collect. I haven't bought a new Swede in years now....so sad.

We had an ELR competition in Sweden this year. 2 friends brought with them a Sauer 200 STR (scandinavian target rifle) and the Tikka T3X. Both in 6.5x55. They fired the Norma Diamond line Field factory load. Both got hits out to ~2000 yards or 1853 meters. Target was 1x1 meter. Pretty awesome round for LR shooting. Myself I used a .338LM at that competition but use 6.5x55 in all other LR comps. No issues getting hits at for example 1200m at 60x60cm targets when I have tried.

The French took it to the next level with their own MAS-44, which lead to the MAS-49, and the final version was the MAS-49/56.

I have one in my safe. Its been talked about before on the "gunboards forum". GOOGLE 1955 Ljungman and it comes up. Many theories as to why but being it was the same time that they sold the tooling to Egypt, I've heard maybe they were training the Egyptians or it was to show the tooling was still in spec.
