Makita 18v for light weight, ergonomics, smoothness and m12 Milwaukee for the compactness...Don't need anything else. I've tried Dewalt and Milwaukee , not impressed. Tools are loud, noticeable vibration and the power is either barely higher or equal. I have never had an instance where I wished I had more power. I love having control on my makita tools and not just uncontrollable power. Most of those KZfaq test are just useless.

20 years ago I use to sell DEWALT, Milwaukee, and Makita. A lot has changed. Now I like to choose the tool I feel has the best options for the role I want. I own DEWALT, Makita, Milwaukee, RYOBI, and a few others. Makita makes a great product. I had their 18 volt as my main drill, but I liked the 998 DEWALT better so i moved to it and donated the Makita set to an aspiring kid entering the trade world. I use RYOBI primarily for around the house stuff and their nailers. The rest are a mix of Milwaukee, Makita, and DEWALT. I research and find the best tool for the role I need. To many having different platforms may seem excessive, but it does give me the flexibility to get the best tool for the job as I already have the batteries for them. No brand makes the best tool for every role. If you want the best tool in every job, they will be a variety of brands. 😊

I'd pick Makita 40v xgt because all of the tools are premium, have the latest tech and a great lineup of tools . I haven't had one yet that I didn't like. Makita 18v LXT is very good but maybe a bit dated in battery tech and more hit and miss in the tools than it used to be . Have over 80 cordless tools from Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Makita. I use some of them every day . Makita tools are smoother, more ergonomic, reliable, and all-round more refined. In general Milwaukee has more power but overhead a lot wich does effect reliability although there 12v is perfect for super compact tools .Dewalts are probably the least refined and roughest of the 3 brands I can only recommend the 60v and their newer premium drills and impacts .

I equipped a maintenance crew of 18 men each with a DeWalt cordless drill & impact driver. They were used daily in an industrial environment performing PMs. rebuilds, and projects. Only reason DeWalt was chosen is there was already a couple DeWalt drills, impact drivers, and angle drills, etc. in the tool cabinet that were shared by the whole crew, not an efficient way to run a maintenance operation. Anyway, over the years, we did burn up a few drills (smoked the motors) which wasn’t too surprising considering the extreme usage. I don’t ever recall burning up an impact driver though and those things were used daily. I personally use DeWalt, can’t say they are the best, but they get the job done.

I use Makita and love the quality and feel. I bought a Dewalt once after we had a fire and lost my first set of Makita’s and didn’t care for it, so I went back to Makita. I’m not opposed to other brands now per se but I love having the same battery and same chargers.

I was a Dewalt guy. From the series with the old battery pack that had the insert to the latest with the slide on packs. They got the job done with no real complaints. Then I got the Milwaukee impact gun. Wow what a game changer! I don't even pick up the airgun anymore. Then I started looking around and Milwaukee has such a large variety of tools I'm slowly making the switch. So far I'm sold on Milwaukee.

I got into DeWalt in the U.K. with a bundle deal, drill, 2 batteries, charger and case. Now I'm invested in their "ink cartridges" I've gone and purchased an impact driver, more Tstak tool organisers and tool boxes. DeWalt is owned by Black and Decker who also own Stanley and Craftsman. I believe the Tstak system is compatible across brands.

I started as an electrician in 2003. We had Makita before lithium tools was a thing. I got my first makita drill at that time. In 2007 i got a house i was renovation. Sold my drill the battery was bad. Got 5 tools with 7 battrys. I used the tools a lot. The saw died this year... or it did not... the coals went bad... but I sold it got a new one. To of the batterys did last year... the rest is still working but is not when they was new. This year i forgot to drills on the roof... for 2 days in the rain. I got a new one... but after I had them on the radiator and the Chuck got a little oil.. they still works.. I got milwaukee on the job... the ergonomi is not as good... And they dont last as long. But if you are a plummer i heard they have better tools. If I was to start to day and buy privat a tool... I would go for roybi privat..if monny was an isue. Else makita any day

I have DeWalt power tools. I have a few Milwaukee hand tools too. I like DeWalt because they are widely available at just about every hardware store as well as online. I’ve even seen DeWalt tools at NAPA auto parts. My local Murdoch’s ranch and home supply store has mostly DeWalt power tools, which is why I got into DeWalt in the first place. In recent years, they’ve had a growing selection of Milwaukee tools as well. I might get a couple of Milwaukee power tools in the future, but ultimately I’m going to stick with DeWalt simply because that’s the platform I’m already into. You can’t really go wrong with any of the big brands because they’re always competing against each other for the best performing tools.

There is very little Milwaukee makes that DeWalt doesn't have a competitive option. Dewalts weakness is there vacuum cleaners. Ridgid makes the best vacuum cleaners and they also make a pro press tool ( more sturdy than Milwaukee)

@@donaldstepp4850impact drivers are another major weakness for DeWalt. Milwaukee is definitely the best with impact drivers. Whereas DeWalt is probably the best with mid torque and high torque impact wrenches mainly because of the shear power they put out, Milwaukee definitely needs to up their impact wrench game if they’re going to catch up to DeWalt as it seems to be an area they’re needing some improvement on.

I wouldn’t consider this an extensive enough amount of time to have an opinion but I worked a few years in construction type positions - foundation leveling; crawl spaces; attics etc. In that time I’ve used all three brands but not nearly every tool by each. Makita felt really good to me, honestly like very smooth action and was reliable. I can’t explain it but it just always worked and the battery seemed to hold a charge well. Milwaukee I didn’t have as much luck with; it was usually the tool on the truck that didn’t work something burnt out or broke. But even still I’d probably go with Dewalt; not because I’m in love with Dewalt but I feel like it’s the most prominent of these brands. People used these tools almost exclusively; they will get the job done but when you’re on a team and everyone’s got battery strips down charging blocks It’s just easier to have the same gear in a pinch if someone’s battery dies. I also imagine the second hand market would make it easier to pick up spare batteries or build upon your tool set. Hilti tools I’ve always had good luck with too; their concrete cutting tools are built like nothing I’ve ever used. It’s shocking how much abuse you can put those through and the things just keep going. I’ve seen them thrown off of roofs; buried in mud stuff that I think would kill anything and they just kept on running. Those were very expensive though.

I recently switched to dewalt from milwaukee but i did it because they innovate the most in the battery space. Their flexvolt batteries are very unique and are capable of various use cases and different tool requirement situations. Their power stack is also very impressive. Compact and lots of power for on the go tools. Milwaukee recently released their Forge batteries to compete with powerstack but they havnt brought it to a smaller more affordable price.

Kobalt from Lowe’s. The reason is the price and the performance. I could easily spend a lot more for Milwaukee but I’m just a home DIYer and just like you stated in the video it would be a lot of money to change over. When my batteries start to fail and the tools start to wear out I might consider switching to Milwaukee. Also 1/2 inch Kobalt impact gun has been a beast for the price for rotating tires on my vehicles.

I use Dewalt tools because they are widely available, they are quite capable and durable. At this point I have nearly two dozen tools and around 40 batteries that have been used and abused and to date I have only had one drill fail and 3 batteries fail. I used to have an old Makita drill back in the NiMH battery days, it was ok but it was expensive and the batteries were insanely expensive relative to the cost of the tool.

Your argument (and most peoples arguments) is the batteries..... GET A BATTERY ADAPTOR... Then you can use your 18v DeWalt batteries on 18v makita or 18v Milwaukee or ryobi etc tools. You can get the best tool for the job rather than the best tools on your battery platform. Im mostly Makita but i have a dewalt 1/2 inch impact gun, Milwaukee trim router and finish nailer, Hikoki framing nailer all powered by Makita batteries so no additional chargers or batteries, no additional space is lost, and no flat batteries for occasionally used tools.

Been a 'Fan Boy" of Milwaukee equipment since I started in industry with their corded tool. Now after my 22 years of home remodeling carrier I have an extensive line of M18 and M12 cordless tools, including an M18 table saw, M18 mechanic style impacts and M18 lawn care equipment. Batteries and professional grade tooling are the reason for staying with Milwaukee. My hands fit the "fat handles" of the M12 Milwaukee cordless tooling, plus for cabinet installation, the compact size worked well for me. I just came in from clearing fence rows using my M18 "Fuel" Chainsaw and M18 "Fuel" Sawzall with a carbide tipped pruning blade to cut small limbs and roots. Wouldn't consider trying another brand, I've been very happy with Milwaukee and they continue to develop more innovative tooling for multiple trades. I will not give up my corded Ridgid vacuums, they outperform all other "shop style" vacuums mine have ever competed against.

You know that term you get what you pay for. Are used to use Porter cable Porter cable is step below Dewalt made by the same manufacturer but I exclusively use Dewalt because they work all the time I did use the Makita once at the higher end model, but the battery packs with burn out or the charging packs burn out. That’s why I just use exclusively DeWalt, when I did construction work and the wall performed above beyond my expectations, that’s the reason why I use Dewalt.

I’ve had a corded Milwaukee 3/8 drill, screw shooter, Circular Saw and a Reciprocating Saw for over 30+ years when I used to work construction. They’ve been dropped, kicked and generally abused their entire lives and still work flawlessly. Remember, 30+years ago battery operated tools were just coming on to the market. All of my battery powered tools are Dewalt for the same reason you mentioned. Batteries are expensive. As a side note I gave my wife a battery powered leaf blower for Christmas, she asked for it, and it uses a Dewalt 20v battery. A lot of battery operated tools are now using other manufacturers batteries as a cost savings. So far my only exception is a 40 volt RYOBI weed eater. It’s eval and will eat anything. I cleared about a 1/2 acre of bamboo with it in less than a day on one charge. PS, Iike you I have over 8 different saws. I actually stopped to count them a month or so back.

I was strictly Dewalt battery tools to share batteries for about 20 years because I started with their drill early on and I think they make solid tools. I’m not a contractor and their tools have held up over time. I buy their higher quality stuff (metal chuck drills), not their entry level crappy drills. I finally started branching out to Milwaukee as well and have 5 of their 18 volt batteries now and a few of their 12 volt batteries as well. I also bought a Greenworks 60V chainsaw (might buy a blower from them so I can get a second battery). I don’t want too many more brand batteries, but a few is manageable.

I’m aging , 64 turn 65 this year so have bought a Ridgid compact impact wrench also a hammer drill , lifetime service agreement on tool and batteries. So fixed income replacing say several batteries could be problematic a few years from now. At least on these 2 tools they perform strong against the competition. Milwaukee and Makita are consistently good overall and for a business a where those tools are making you money makes sense in long term reliability. For me like the Ridgid compact impact 1/2” it’s probably the smallest out there with power matching or exceeding a lot of the compilation. I watch a lot of the testing from different sources say like the torque test channel and others that have some consistency in how they test. When I have the need for a particular type of power tool review latest tests/ reviews wait for a sale usually includes batteries. Not overly loyal to any one brand. So some tools for the power others comfort or getting to tight spots . There might be a Kobalt or Ridgid or other brand that this particular tool is a wow in the testing and simply shines in its what that tool is designed for category. And yes Makita and Milwaukee are at the top a lot but there are times others equal or surpass . Name of my brand ………. has the beans brand . More important what makes the most sense .

I use Milwaukee. I had used Craftsman, which I believe had at one time, been made by DeWalt. The problem I had at that time was changing battery sizes. They quit making the size battery I used and essentially phased out my tool. So I moved to a brand I was told guaranteed the battery would not be changing. I've stayed with Milwaukee because of all the other tools I can run off the same battery platform. I have 1 DeWalt tool, a reciprocating saw, which I now need to find a battery for hopefully it's still available, as it is not a 20 volt like their current tools use. Side note, DeWalt is a brand founded by a man from my hometown. Raymond DeWalt was at 1 time a Shop Teacher at Mechanicsburg School District, my alma mater. He had the patent for the Radial Arm Saw, which began the Company.

If you work in one place all the time i guess it doesnt bother you to look after and use 5 battery platforms. But we work on the field, in attics, basements, industrial places where the service truck is often 3 buildings and half a mile away, also happens a lot when cooworkers ask for a battery so its really important to have only one battery platform. Or at least as few as possible. It happens really often when the spare battery in your worklight saves you 10 minutes of walk. You just put it in your other tool, finish the job and leave. The money side is important but its much more about efficiency and the less logistics of only using one platform

Up until now, I can say that except one DeWalt none have let me down. That said, I find DeWalt too agricultural for my needs, I loved the Hitachi's (Hikoki here in Europe/Metabo HPT in US) but their line up/price point isn't on par with Makita. As for Milwaukee...I just sold my last red tool today. I personally can't find any reason except for the little power advantage and slightly better finish to go for Milwaukee. Especially not at European prices. I decided to fully go team real when it come to cordless. Best ergonomics/quality/price package (IMHO).

Not a professional level tool but look for some of the off brand DeWalt tools. I like the 1/2 square 1/4 hex impact ( hybrid like Bosch freak) or even the bug zapper and light duty pressure washer ( perfect for ac coils)

we use all three of the big brands at work, they’re all great and get the job done, but i do prefer the ergonomics of DeWalt and none of them have failed through the daily abuse, Milwaukee on the other we’ve had a few failures… makita i also believe never had a failure but to be honest we don’t use them that much compared to the other two. so for personal use i just stick with DeWalt.

I try and buy American made whenever I can. Some DeWalt’s are American made some not, you have to check the box. These companies are in the battery business. Over time they keep changing and coming out with more powerful batteries which we want, and since they have all these different bundles it seems like it pays to buy the bundles to get more batteries because overall is the better buy than just buying batteries.

Makita fan here: the battery technology is actually much more advanced than most people realise. People equate the "gas tank" size to the advancement of the battteries, when the BMS and PCBs (circuit boards) are the most advanced by far, its not even close. Makita 18v are limited to 18650 cells, but the mileage, range, fuel efficency, whatever you want to call it is much better on Makita. It isnt a gaz guzzler.

I have standardized to Dewalt for two reasons: 1. Common batteries across my tools 2. They are NOT made in China, at least the ones I have.

Dewalt is by far the worst out of the big 3 for trades use. Milwaukee M12 cant be beat for a compact line. Their warranty is great (however i use it more then one probably should for the price) Makita is the most refined tools and thats my main tool line up (only ever used warranty once since 2011 and that was my own fault, mixing buckets of concrete with a hammer drill and blew the gearbox, makita replaced it the next day on warranty) Every brand has their ups and downs and no one company makes a perfect line up. If youre in the trades for a living and you like to buy the best, you just have to accept youll be on multiple platforms. I started buying M18 tools, because Makita doesnt make any decent nailers and Milwaukee...nailed it...with their Gen2 line up. I had about 5 dewalt tools and i only keep them and use them because they were free. I dont LOVE using them, because i think either Milwaukee or Makita make a better version, but they cost me nothing, make me money and still get it done. If i was a DIY i would go with Ridgid or Ryobi. They seem to have the biggest linups & value.

Milwaukee is the best quality and performance. But also the most expensive. Most people stay with the brand they start with so they don’t have multiple batteries and chargers. I’ve never been disappointed with my Milwaukee cordless tools.

I'm not a fan of any brand at all. Why do o chose DeWalt? Simple, value for money is the first reason. Availability where I live is the second. Makita there's no dealer here, Hilti, expensive and a long drive to buy or service, same to others. I also have Ryobi. The old Japanese Ryobi is excellent, the new Chinese Ryobi is... not something I'll buy again. Having worked with Milwaukee, it is a quality product, still I would go for DeWalt if it was my money. Festool vs DeWalt... would be decided in the moment.
