• Taylor Swift's Side Of...
"I’ve been in the public eye since I was 15 years old. On the beautiful, lovely side of that, I’ve been so lucky to make music for living and look out into crowds of loving, vibrant people. On the other side of the coin, my mistakes have been used against me, my heartbreaks have been used as entertainment, and my songwriting has been trivialized as ‘oversharing’
When this album comes out, gossip blogs will scour the lyrics for the men they can attribute to each song, as if the inspiration for music is as simple and basic as a paternity test. There will be slideshows of photos backing up each incorrect theory, because it’s 2017 and if you didn’t see a picture of it, it couldn’t have happened right?
Let me say it again, louder for those in the back…
We think we know someone, but the truth is that we only know the version of them that they have chosen to show us

Much more than we realize. She plays the dork, and covers a lot with humor, to be just one of the group. An interview with her FIRST GRADE teachers revealed that she was writing poetry at that age. They were amazed at how she loved figuring out the different forms (couplets, sonnets...et ..) of poetry.

Why does everyone hate her so much? She invited fans to each of her houses and played her albums a month early! And bought a house for a fan! And spent Valentine’s Day baking with a fan! And held a concert for tons of orphans! And spent five hours in a hospital talking to cancer patients when she wa supposed to only stay for one hour. She is an angel. And that’s why I love her with all of my heart. I have seen her three times. All these stories about fans meeting her makes me happy because she never breaks eye contact. She listens to you while holding your hands and rubbing it. She hugs you every chance she gets. She remembers her fans names. She is the best artist out here, but no one can see past the media’s bullshit comments.

For years I hated on Taylor Swift for no valid reason other than internalized misogyny. I used to love her old songs like Love Story, You Belong with Me and Back to December and I let the media’s portrayal of her lead me to turn my back on her. Years of my life I spent disliking a person who I didn’t even bother to get to know in a different scope, such as in interviews like these, where it seems like she is honest and personable. The day she released folklore, I watched her film Miss Americana first before listening to the album, and I had an epiphany. I was so embarrassed that Taylor had to endure this much vilification and scrutiny for years by so many people like me for no valid reason. It made me realize that she is an eloquently spoken young woman who is making positive changes in her life, and as a musician and artist, she has earned my respect!! I guess I’m a Taylor Swift stan now!

bryan smith uhm?? Dude, I was literally nine or ten when all that stuff with Taylor Swift and the media happened. As a naive nine/ten year old entrusting in the media like it was gospel because, ya know, you’re supposed to trust the media, it made me switch without a second thought. It was until I had grown up years later understanding the concept of misogyny, especially how prevalent internalized misogyny is, that I had my epiphany. Along with agenda setting and biases in the media, it was embarrassing coming to the realization. I don’t believe I am naturally jealous or hateful person now but thank you for your input that I did not ask for.

I really think Dear John is a perfect and catchy song title because of NS book with the same title. And she's very creative to entitle a song like that, interpreting a very sad heartbreak from a guy named John, too. It is not about naming a guy to ashame him. It is about her creativity.

I used to not like her because I thought she was a horrible singer, her songs had no depth and were generic pop trash, and that she was just annoying. BUT now, I absolutely love her. I actually listened to her music and there’s substance there, and she’s just a bit quirky but aren’t we all? She’s a wonderful song-writer and well yeah, I really enjoy her stuff! Oh and she actually does sing good. Reputation has some amazing vocals.

I like this woman's personality more than her music. It is weird because it's the only person I have that feeling with. Like I can listen her songs and I'm like "they're ok", I can sing along and so but the music is not really my style, I'm more into rock. But paying attention to the meaning behind the lyrics I started to see interviews and watch her talking and I am fascinated. She's very intelligent and adresses all the media situation in such an elegant way. She's right about that many pop artists write about themselves and they don't get that much bashing. I think people are trying to portray her as some sort of crazy maneater, but she when she speaks she appears very rational and sensible. I admire her.

Was nobody paying attention to her? Because all of the things she’s saying with Reputation, she’s said for years. But I guess its really true in the way media has manipulated her. We were only shown the drama. I love this woman and all of her flaws. She’s definitely a talented songwriter and she’s also incredibly smart in everything she does.

Scarlet Wizard She wrote Love Story with an age of 17. And it was one of the biggest hits in the US back in 2008 I think. You also don't know how much Max Martin etc worked on a song. In her recent making of a song videos you can see that Taylor has the ideas for melody and especially lyrics. And you can still be a great song writer even if you don't know how to make a song that is catchy enough for radio.

Lynn D no.. not at all. She is super shady, Katy Perry called her a wolf in sheeps clothing. One thing that made me realize that she is not a good person is stealing someone's artwork and claiming it as her own, she did not credit the artist at all. It was an artist on Etsy who was very, very small and painted the picture of a fox. The only reason she credited the artist (without an apology, mind you) is because of the backlash she received on Instagram.. this was after the whole incident of her suing artists on Etsy who sold items with her lyrics on them. She's done other stuff, too. But ethically and morally she's not as good as you think.

Ok, she may not be a great vocalist but her songwriting is amazing. She has much more depth than most artists these days. 'Reputation' is not her strongest lyrically, but 'Red' and 'Speak Now' were lyrical blockbusters.

If you are poor, they give you compassion if they know you. If they don't know - they try to get rid off you. People spend their free time to think lines they are about to speak to their friends. I used to hate her because I was believing everything the media was telling me….this was all during 1989 and I heavily disliked blank space and wildest dreams Little did I know I’ve been listening to her for most of my life. Songs like state of grace, love story, our song, literally every song on Fearless and Red we’re all apart of my childhood but since I was so young I didn’t knew who created them and she sounds so different I didn’t think it was the same person Long story short, wildest dreams is now my second favorite pop song from her now that I’ve come to appreciate the lyrics, production, and overall daydreamy power the song has. Taylor is now one of my favorite artist mostly cuz I was so intrigued by her Reputation era and that just clicked……she’s a damn legend

And yeah, there ARE a lot of other fanbases who'll just idolize their celebrity, but I was thinking of this comment that said that Swifties are the nicest fanbase, so yeah; any fanbase (not just Swifties) that says the opposing side is dumb, for no good logic, is a dumb fanbase. People seriously complained about how she held her cat? lol Cat looked pretty comfy to me! What a petty bunch. Nothing better to do than to tear others down, especially those in the spotlight. They get into the business knowing what to expect to a point, after "that point" I'm sure it wears you down..I can't even imagine. At some point the bubble breaks, said star basically says, "you want something to talk about... here ya go!" and the gossips run their lips lol So she's had some ups and downs like anyone, moved on and she's successful.. People hate on her for writing about her relationships.... yet every single artist does the exact same thing. In fact rappers are constantly making songs about sex, women’s bodies, drugs, yet they never get hate? How can people like all that stuff and then be the same people who go and hate on Taylor for writing about her relationships, which she does poetically and beautifully and doesn’t bring sex and drugs into every one of her songs.
