Why do you have Umbrellas inside the Church. Traditions part 1

It’s the Way we Practice our faith, the order of the church is an integral part of our worship.
There is a way and order for every service given within the EOTC; and meaning behind every gesture.
Our faith and tradition (order) go hand in hand. Our faith is our home while the order given to us by God is fencing that protects our home from unlawful practices.

Thank you for having EOTC videos on English. I'm American married to Ethiopian, and he's EOTC Before I even married, I was intrigued with the EOTC church as its one of the oldest Christian churches. Question:. I've seen a growing use of European depiction icons in the church. As a black person this is disheartening. As the oldest African church I think it's important to keep your original icons that looks like your community. Why is this change happening and increasing.

The Orthodox Tewahedo Church does not see race . Each of the orthodox churches all have their own depiction of Jesus Christ , St Mary, the saints and angels based on each country’s traditions . None of the icons are seen as incorrect or wrong based on race . When we look at our holy icons the first thing we should not notice is race , race itself is something that was not even around during Jesus Christ’s time . Whether the icon has a darker skin tone or lighter , it does not matter ! Our holy icons of Christ are there for us to worship Him. Our holy icons of our beloved mother Virgin Mary , the saints and angels are there for us to show honour , veneration and to ask for intercession. Let us not focus on race because it is completely irrelevant when we enter our holy church.

If you go to churches back home it’s mainly icons that look Ethiopian. The Eurocentric ones are a recent thing

Ethiopian Orthodox tewahdo has its own ancient art of drawing Holy icons different than other countries in the old times and we still using it but the problem is some of the icons from other religions like catholic are brought to our church and sadly people are using it.

You are right Even in Ethiopia they are now using Catholic Jesuit images. It's terrible to use icons from their historical enemy the Roman Catholic Church. This started after His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I and has increased since. Pitiful.

@@TigisttLakew It's not just about having darker or lighter skin, but the Ethiopian Church has its own legitimate icon style. It's beautiful and vibrant and unique among other styles of iconography, and is in danger of being overwhelmed by them.

It is said that a vision or a dream must be seen in that holy place to establish a church. However, the churches outside of Ethiopia are first-class churches or our holy church bought them, but it will be a place for the ark, just like in Ethiopia. My question is to the churches in foreign countries, before they name the arks in the name of the Holy Trinity or the name of the saints, or again in the name of the Holy Virgin Mary who gave birth to our God, and in the name of other holy fathers and mothers and holy martyrs, will there be a dream or a vision?

it is not the same actually but it based on biblical and hiatorical facts like king solomon used painting when he build the house of God we use painting in our churche.
