In this video, I'm going to talk about why you slice your driver and how to fix it.
I'll also talk about the difference between slicing with an iron and a driver, and why you might not be slicing your irons.
Finally, I'll give you a few tips to help you stop slicing your driver.

Mark you dont get enough credit when it comes to youtube golf personalities. You were the 1st golf instruction video I ever viewed on youtube, years ago back when it wasnt really even a thing. I had no idea what things like zero, face and path even meant before getting "stuck in." You helped me become my own swing coach by giving me the knowledge, instead of trying to sell me snake oil. Keep the content coming and looking fwd to you hitting 1M subs. Cheers from the states

Great explanation! And that last bit about playing with our shapes is so true…. Everyday is different and swings will change within the same person…even in a round! Thanks Mark!

I used to have all sorts of corrections with my driver, closed face and stance, thinking I was swinging over the top and in to out. I wasn´t, and that lead to a lot of miss hits. I´ve watched a lot of your videos on this stuff, and learnt that simply neutralising my grip a bit, keeping my hands lose (not gripping on for dear life) and letting the club go has improved every aspect of driver strike. I have few practice swings one handed with the club upside down before tee off which helps me get that feeling of letting it go. AS a result, 90% fairways in the last 20 rounds, with a 5% miss margin both left and right. Cheers for the tips brah! good stuff.

Cracking video, started playing my shape recently and finding more fairways as I’m not fighting it. Now a buttery fade rather than a slice, push or pull.

Thanks for the video. I often feel like i am pulling the club through the swing leaving the face open at impact. I'll try a slight pause before i hit the ball for the club head to catch up and still follow through - hopefully this works as it makes sense!!!

Mark, you Rock!! After hitting a (huge) slice for ages with the driver whiles hitting a small draw with the irons I started loosing my mind. After viewing this video I went to the range and lo and behold... straight bombs! (well baby fade but who's counting) I went from 220 yards forward and 60 yards to the right to a drive that found the fairway at about 280 yards :) very happy..!! Many thanks for providing these insights that have not yet been shared (even by in person lessons)

Well, with 10 minutes to spare, I hit the net, took your thoughts onboard, gave it a try, felt good, but no real idea from the net. Burned down the first and 3rd, and out of 7 tee shots, 6 were on fairway. Work in progress, but after a 6&4 win, thank you!

Grate video. Been trying to play my shot on the course lately (sliced driver setup left, drawn iron setup right) while practicing corrections on the range instead of always trying to do it on the course. Enjoyment of my rounds have gone up, and the misses are getting smaller resulting in smaller adjustments quicker than I would have expected.

My issue with driver (and hybrids) is a pull to the left. I can hit beautiful, penetrating shots right down the middle if I seriously concentrate on holding the face straight at contact. Hopefully this will become more natural as I practice. I think right now my natural driver shot is to the left because I turn my hand over like hitting a baseball.

Keeping the face pointed down on the backswing has helped my slice big time. Keeps my wrist from cupping and I can just turn through the ball now and not think about the face

Great video! Your explanations are on point and easy for any one to understand. 👍 I use a very strong grip with my driver to keep it straight to drawing (used to have 30 yard slice) what are your feelings on grip change to change shape? Thanks Mark.

What would you diagnose Mark, in general, from straight-to-slight-draw with irons and more draw with the driver?
@Carsonsimon
@Carsonsimon Жыл бұрын
Why....Being late with the clubhead... Driver has the longest shaft and swing arc and the clubhead moves the furthest through the whole swing... People are in a rush to try and hit it hard and far... So the body and the hands go and drag the handle and it just leaves the clubhead trailing behind and you can't catch it back up... If you swing a PW at 30% and try and stop it at impact then do the same with driver straight after you can tell that it feels like an eternity for that clubhead to get back round compaired to the PW...

Hi Mark, Just caught up with this video. Very informative, thank you. My problem however, is that when I try to play my fade, for some damn reason, the ball goes straight left - more times than not. And then when I think I'm hitting my drives fairly straight and aim straight, the fade reappears. I will try your setup method. However, I think my inconsistencies are definitely driving this problem. Nothing that a few pints can't cure.

The thing I don't see enough people talk about with fade v draw is allowing the club face to catch up to the hands. If your hands are in front of the club face with a driver it's almost impossible to draw the ball. This used to be a huge problem for me coming from playing a lot of baseball and I believe it's very common among amateur golfers. I have to feel almost as if I am throwing the clubhead way ahead of my body to get the face around square.

Would love to see a video from you on club face alignment at address. Many of us are taught to have our hands on the inside of our lead medial thigh which creates a touch of shaft lean at address. This subsequently sets the club face slightly open naturally at address relative to the target line. Would love to get your insights on this.

I`m a fader of the ball with my driver the majority of the time and use it pretty successfully. On some days when I'm swinging freely with a good tempo, I start to hit my driver straight and even with a slight draw, this means I've then got to change my target mid round. If I try to practice a draw it never seems to work!! What am I doing in my swing on the days when it's going straight?
