Where does evil come from? Morgan sets out to understand the root of evil and how our ideas of it have evolved over the millennia. Is the devil real? From the underworld of ancient Egypt to a modern-day maximum-security prison, Morgan discovers that evil might be more than a supernatural force. The birth of religion may be inextricably tied to the need to control evil.

About The Story of God with Morgan Freeman:
Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman explores the meaning of life, God, and many big questions in between in an effort to understand how religion has evolved and shaped society. A different divine subject is covered in each hourlong episode, titles of which include "Creation," "The Devil Inside," "Afterlife," "Apocalypse," and "Who Is God?" To explore these topics, host and narrator Freeman visits nearly 20 cities in seven countries to see some of the world's greatest religious sites, among them Jerusalem's Wailing Wall, India's Bodhi Tree, Mayan temples in Guatemala, and the pyramids of Egypt, and he immerses himself in religious experiences and rituals. "In some places I found answers, and others led to more questions. The constant through it all is that we're all looking to be part of something bigger than us. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that we certainly are," Freeman says.

Very poorly saying, but what if the one leading the horse to bad waters? Remember Evil alone can not harm anything, it is the person taking the mental of evil to initiated the action of doing evil. Take the example of Cain, a rock can be deadly tool but the person using it for his own personal gain can be evil too!

If we stop pretending like we own it, probably we will discover mankind could fly like Superman. There’s only one True Source of all sources, The source of this world and the invisible world that lived among us, and all invisible phases of universe like ours that used the same sun, use the same moon, but in the next step. A really wonderful, insightful, informative documentary. Thank you Morgan, it was a pleasure to go on this journey with you. I think one thing that could have been explored a bit more is the impact of childhood trauma on an individuals actions. Most people who commit 'evil' have had trauma of some form in their childhood. This trauma affects the brains development. Maybe if we made; the nurturing of children, the protection of care givers, mothers and fathers, and the support of family, more of a priority, a serious priority, then we would see less damaged people and a healthier society for everyone. Teach people how to lovingly care for children and themselves.

The natural law shows us just that, there is a negative and positive charge to all things. The universe is made up of balance down to the molecular level, So what is the negative without the positive vice versa. Both necessary when you think about it, so one might change there view on each, when looked at as equals, and both necessary. Is one greater than the other or just merely opposing force, unavoidable and destructive to try to separate. Just my thoughts and understanding.

I want to see more of this series. And honestly I don’t believe that any religion has the correct idea of what “God” is but I do believe there is something out there. I was raised Baptist but as I looked around at the world I found other cultures with their own religions and I learned more about them. I left Christianity because they say that they are right and everyone else is wrong, but what about every other culture? This is why I don’t care what beliefs others have, I just look at who they are as humans.

I was a child when segregation was legal and felt the conflicts of the teachings of Christ with racism. Fortunately the church I went to was open to everyone in my small conservative town. Seeing the change in liberal Republicans of the 1950s and evangelical churches becoming money making enterprises is the personification of evil to me today. Greed and many intelligent people hardened against helping others in need has created chaos in our culture.

People of faith have to see what is and isnt their belief. People can call themselves a Christian, Muslim,Jewish ect. , but it does not make them one. Is a Christian a Christian if he hates another race? steals? murders? No. Would 1 branch of faith want to hurt another? No. They are wolves in sheeps clothing. People of faith are the same, but unbelievers divide. If a random person throws on a mask and says im this religion or that then blows something up does it make him that religion? I dont know if any of it made sense just trying to give a few examples. lol

The "physical world/universe" exists, in large part, due to duality and the interaction and balance of these opposing / complimentary forces. Light - Dark; North - South, Positive - Negative; Right - Wrong, On - Off, Yin - Yang, 1 - 0, Day - Night, Order - Disorder, Good - Evil, Up - Down, True - False, Male - Female, Hot - Cold, Wave - Particle, etc. is observed to be interwoven within the fabric of the "physical world/universe". Thus, the existence of Good would of necessity require the existence of Evil in the physical world/universe, and vice versa. Moreover, the scientifically confirmed property of duality in the physical world/universe does not preclude the existence of a Prime Observer/Cause.

But still, don't we all have a choice, even if a limited one?!

I learned a lot of wrong when I was a child; I learned not to care, to just do what I wanted to do. I was headed down a bad path. I asked God to change me and He did.
