The rewards option is certainly the most likely if anything is to even happen at all. Daily, weekly, and seasonal challenges would definitely work. Like great league eligible tapu fini , giratina... as the seasonal end rewards would be motivating for sure. Another probably more difficult way would be developing a coefficient based on pvpoke rank and usage that adjusts elo loss/gain. That way spicier and less used pokemon would either gain more elo per win and/or lose less elo per loss. Banning mons and move changes will never be the answer because it still creates a condensed meta

The game feels extremely stale and boring because Niantic does not put much effort into giving people a reason to pick any other Pokemon that are not "top meta." They can just do better move updates to make more Pokemon usable. Pretty simple.

Honestly, I’ve been battling against my friend in trainer battles and making custom “cups” (only 2 types allowed to be used) and calling it a cup. Honestly pretty fun

QOTD: Shadow Abra 2 cup ideas I’m sure other people would have said. 1. Power Swap Cup. Have the attack and defense stats switch. The bulkier a Pokémon the more frail and the harder they hit. The more attack weighted mon becomes bulkier and doesn’t hit like a truck. Your team that is playing rn would be meta lol. 2. Inverse Battle Cup. Have the type effectiveness switch. Fire becomes strong against water, water strong against grass, grass strong against fire. neutral is still neutral. Normal super effective x2 to ghost. Pure chaos lol. The amount of bugs in the game from this would be massive. And you could add this rule to other cups as well. Also change the switch timer to a lesser time to 45 sec. 30 sec was too fast. 60 sec you are extremely locked in a RPS.

Here's some I came up with: 1) Switch from a charge move system to a cool down timer system that increases a second or two each time a charge move is used. This would stop move spamming and attack stacking. 2) Introduce a speed stat to IV's ( this determines how fast a quick attack is fired), this would balance out much of the meta. Bulky "tank" mon are naturally slower than faster glass cannons. This also makes hundos or 3 stars worth using. 3) After reaching rank 15, auto picks are locked in. 4) After reaching rank 20, random picks are unknown till the battle starts.

8:43 zen headbutt and pound can never be buffed because chansey will sweep everything, so I like this point 10:00 steelix ruining the fun

Honestly there are so many pokemon stuck with bad moves that are bad for no reason. Like, I get Zen Headbutt and Pound being bad to keep Chansey and Blissey bad. But why is Low Kick and Rock Smash so awful? There are so many pokemon kept back by terrible design choices, i dont get it.

I really like the rewards rework option. That is actually much better than the field researches and encouraging trainers who play pvp more to up their skill with different pokemons. - Also, they could try adding a Draft Cup for Great and Ultra league just like in Clash Royale, fast and charge moves will be randomized as well which will add the zesty touch lol. - Another option is by adding a Battle Energy meter where the pokemon loses energy after each battle / set just like in gyms, but will refill automatically overtime (Battle energy meter doesnt affect the pokemon's performance in battle but the energy required to use it in GBL kinda just like mega energy.) Just a thought and honestly I'm just a new player to the game (literally started 3 months ago) . I have not dived too much into GBL so, my options maybe garbage lol

Another idea that would help players trying to rank up is ranked floors. In a game like Hearthstone, certain ranks wont allow you to fall below them even if you kept losing. So in this case, if I hit 2500 for Veteran, I could not fall below 2500 elo for the rest of the season. It could help people who are hardstuck within a certain range to have that safety net in place. I know it can be disheartening to lose a bunch of points in a single day and feel bad trying to gain them back.

The biggest problem for me is the CP requirements. I have so many Pokémon that are over the great league’s 1500 cp cap but will never reach anywhere close to 2500, and the ones that can need to be fully XL to do so and I simply do not have the resources to do that. However, if there were another league in between great and ultra with a 2000 cp cap, then I would actually be able to use some of them. We would benefit tremendously from the addition of in between leagues with 1000, 2000, and 3000 cp caps respectively

I have 2 ideas that could improve GBL: 1) Niantic should create some sort of tournament mode (nothing crazy, maybe 8 players) and the winner & runner up gets some sort of reward. This is just an additional competitive mode which differs from the standard 5 battles in a set. 2) Create another mode which only contains rental teams, which would be teams of pokemon that aren’t actually owned by the trainer. I feel this would definitely bring more players to GBL so they don’t have to spend so much stardust & candy to build specific pokemon

I would love a lot of these changes, but seeing niantic can't do something as simple and beneficial as making tms so you can choose the non-legacy move for seasons, i doubt any of this will happen. Them also removing the mid-season move updates sucked big time. That helped a lot

Would love to see a system where you can only use a mon in one set per day. This would force trainers to get more creative with team comps if they want to run 5 sets per day and would make team building and strategy a lot more prevalent and would disburse the meta a lot.

I'd really like to see different battle formats, like a draft or similar. Example1: you queue onto a BO3 and you got 9 random pokemon (from the top 100 or so) and you have to use all of the 9 along the BO3 Example2: you got a spread of 10 different random mons and play a show 6 pick 3 Example3: You're given 2 pokemon and have to choose 1 and so on until you get your team of 3 (Clash Royale has a similar format) Don't know how it would be to count MMR or organize lead pokemon and movesets, but feels definitely doable

My suggestion to make the GBL more enjoyable for meta and spicy users is a matching system change. Where, besides matching opponents based on their skills and raking score it would also consider the “spicy rank”. This way people who likes to run meta teams would be matched with someone who enjoys the same, and people who loves running unpopular spicy picks would be matched with similar people. This way, everyone enjoys the GBL. Another suggestion is adding a badge that could be shown off, like legend poses, for people who use spicy picks. It’d be updated after each set and shown during the matching animation. This badge could be divided into 5 rankings. Higher the badge higher the rewards in the GBL. That could encourage the meta users to use different monsters.

I have my moods some day i finish my battles by 1am some days i skip my battles but i genuinely do have fun with battling probably being my favorite part of the game

I really like that last idea, with daily/weekly challenges to earn bigger rewards but which also require some skill and spice. That'd bring a lot more fun to GBL

QOTD: When finding matches have the total stat product number of your team also be taken into account along with ELO. It would penalize you for only running Meta, High Stat product teams because you would potentially be matched against better battlers with higher ELO running lower stat product teams. On the other hand it would incentivize running spicy lower stat product teams because you would be more likely to match against lower ELO trainers.

You mentiomed how certain moves were nerfed to check specific pokemon, but ended up making other pokemon who also have that move worse. I found this especially frustrating. For instance Psychic was nerfed due to Medicham, but now my Psychic Umbreon, Alomomola, Psychic Cofagrigus, and Slowbro were made worse by it. Or Ominous wind was nerfed due to Giratina, but now my Xatu and Masquerain are useless.

by far the worst feature so far is the charge move system. IMO they need a structural rework, not just giving extra charge tms. Like, if you learn a move you should have an option in the future to choose that move from a regular charge tm (as if it's an elite tm), but if you haven't learned the move yet you have to roll for it at random, if that makes sense.

Pokemon has tiers, and that gives room to all pokemon. POGO is limited but it could add that too

It would be pretty cool if every day or week there were a random icon that appears for a random pokemon and if you win with that pokemon you get more rewards or something. So you can choose to run spice for better rewards or do the same play as usual

1. We need one more league up to 3500 cp. A lot of legendaries are too weak for master league and still quite spice for ultra league. 2. Master league. It is OK, that it is not easily accessible, but problems that few pokemons are way more stronger than others. 3. Niantic should release new pokemons more often. There are currently around 200 unreleased pokemons. And Niantic manages to release only ~5 pokemons per season. And usually, max 1 of them have any play in gbl. 4. Maybe Niantic should think to change GBL to be closer to original pokemons with items and abilities. 5. Give unlimited battles per day. There are no place for experiments, then you always have to maximise elo gains

These ideas are very enticing especially with the daily and weekly gbl option would get people back into pvp(I would actually put in the work if they did it) At the same time adding more than 3 battle options at a time for competitive which would increase variety On another note, I don’t play a lot of mainstream Pokémon games but wouldn’t Garchomp be able to learn Breaking Swipe? (Seriously his design says so) Overall PvP is fun but very annoying and repetitive…

Modify the remix cups. Instead of banning pokemon, ban them from being together in a single team. Or allow everything but banning specific moves. Make glass cannons actual real glass cannons with good moveset. Give them hard-hitting or fast charging fast moved with relatively low energy charged moves. This would hopefully offset their lack of bulk or tankiness. Remove useless moves or update them to be useful. Make certain moves work differently for pokemon that uses them. Something like reverting breaking swipe to always debuff opponent’s attack - but only when used by dragon types.

Things to make GBL better. • Random charge attack mini games that aren't the same everytime. • Abilities to make more pokemon usable • Bigger move pools for all pokes, make some moves able to heal (or a chance to) • Status conditions need to be imemented. (PARALYZE = Fast move turns are now 50% more slower., FREEZE = Unable to use charge attacks for 5 seconds, BURN = Atack is halved [similar to 2 attack drops], POISON = 1hp damage every 1turn move, SLEEP = Can't use fast attacks for 5 seconds. • 3 charged moves (Make set up moves like defense curl, dragons dance deal no damage but increase stats.

I think weighting attack more in the damage calculation will solve pretty much everything. The way cp is calculated is messed up and it would be very easy to make up for that when calculating damage. The problem with the game is not just how few pokemon are viable, it’s that the meta is full of the most boring ones to play. Make attack more important and I will be happy.

Your final idea is fantastic!! Sadly I doubt any powerful niantic employees will watch this video but fingers crossed that the daily challenges or something similar are implemented. I hit legend last week in remix with salazzle kommo-o and mantine. While not the spiciest team, I feel like it represents how I enjoy playing gbl the most: find an off-meta but still strong core (salazzle kommo o) and build a team around it that makes sense. That way I can get some wins in while also having fun fireblasting ferrothorns

Been battling since season 10 I only battle for dust and candies mainly candies cause I don't even save them right now I put 350+ into shadow kyogre, shadow mewtwo and shadow registeel solgalo to be level 40. Some weeks like catch cup or masters are a bit less gains ofcourse where I only got like 3 things built to use

The risk with better rewards is that tanking will even more popular. I think they should look at the most used pairings and teams, then give a number of more attack weighted pokemon and pokemon of weaker typings movesets so they can break those cores.

Everyone should be able to hand out like 3 medals to opponents a day to show appreciation for someone's spice, a phenomenal catch etc (you can only recieve medals ehen you win). Would create a whole new side-ranking and maybe motivate people no to use stuff like grasshole😄

I think Pogo needs to focus on adding passives from the main series. It would make everything feel better, especially pvp.

How about a season long autowreck cup? Use the mons Niantic suggests. Can't change the mon for one of same type or change the order. If theres a mon suggested you don't have built just back out to cup choice and enter again for another suggested team until all 3 are built mons. It's how ive been playing gbl for the last 3 seasons. Guess there could be the people who just keep backing out til they get the team they want but for 5 sets that would take forever.

The community comes up with neat ideas to encourage more variety but I just don't see anything changing until Niantic starts implementing more frequent move updates and most importantly reworking garbage fast moves. Imagine of Bite was a Dragon Breath clone or Rock Smash became a Confusion clone.

To fix the normal league, if Niantic manage to extrapolate the data that pvpoke has and according to their rankings give each pokemon a multiplier, meaning the higher ranked the pokemon is the lower multiplier would be. So if you use all meta picks your multiplier is 1 so for your rewards you get the normal amount of stardust and candys and everything else; but if you run a very spicy team and your mutiplier is a 10, well you would get way more rewards, hence incentivicing running spice as a result

There should be two modes for GBL. A ranked mode and a causal mode. Ranked mode would keep your standard great league, ultra league, and masters. Causal would then have all your other spice modes without having to worry about ranking down

Limit all pokemons battle. For example A9, bastiodon and the rest can only be used 30 times. That would rotate the meta and encourage battler to be diverse

So I mainly play for stardust but I do really enjoy battling especially with spice

Your third idea would be awsome. I was thinking about to forbid using a pokemon more than 10 times in a week so people are firced to change teams more frequently. This season i saw too many basti-wiggly-vic teams

2:45 I am definitely GAGGED and in the minority here because the main reason I battle is because.....I enjoy battling online, I always wanted to battle online in a pokemon game since forever and it's my biggest "ok i have spare time, let me indulge myself into battling while in bed". The issue is that yes, I want to primarily win and do it sustainedly, not hover til my death around the 50-55% win rate

The worst parts about gbl: The tm system is not fun, The lag is absolutely horrendous sometimes. I only really do gbl for end of season stardust. Positives: grinding wild Pokémon to find pvp ivs i find very enjoyable, rewards can be amazing... SOMETIMES. If they added 1-2 more charged moves and dodge features into battles... Wow that would make battling super fun.

The problem with having cups for 1 week is it can take me a couple of days to find a team that works and I'm comfortable with, and by the time that happens itll be time for a new rotation. Maybe stagger the cups, so they each go for 2 weeks, but after a week you get a new cup while the other cup is on week 2

I miss the post to leave my complaints hahahaha. To me, it's pretty boring when someone builds a team that works, and then everyone copies it and you see it every single time, specially in limited cups, I don't see a problem in using someone else's team, but they always copy the most toxic one. This season I was using one that ChillisFM recommended, and it wasn't that toxic, it was really fun. Another complain I have, and this idk how to explain it, but the game do pair you up based on your Pokémon or their move set, I wish it was 100% random. And my final complaint, the lag, and specially in the last couple months... I have changes phone 2 times, when I got the most recent one, everything went smoothly, I was super happy, but then, the new graphics, avatar, and updates came and everything went downhill for me. I am, by far, not the best pvp player but most of my loses have been due to lag, frame drops, frozen screen. I wish Niantic testes their updates and if they cause trouble, remove them and relaunch them once they work perfectly and in harmony with the game.

To fix the remix cup, they should ban the top 50 or 100 mons for the first week and for the second week they should scale back and only be the top 20. That way we still get extra spicy plus some more normal Great league remix

I think biggest problem with go battle league is that people who actually grind alot, considers it just a cherry and not a cake exempel me. For me gbl is something that I need to play when ever battle day is. Edit. Why I think former is a problem is that new players will probably never even touch gbl and thus amount of players who would maybe use some spice never increases. Also the fact that we are discussing niantic and how consistetly they make terrible decision. I think it is baffling that smeargle is banned. Just imagine if you are using like s whiscash and opponent would switch into smeargle. You really can't know what would be the best play. If you stay and it would have like grass knot, you would be screwd. If you shield and it would be like discharge, you just lost a shield for nothing. It would be so much more interesting and it would be much more interesting to watch as a viewer when the game which could've already seemed like over, could now just shift completely because of smeargles random nature. Anyway I have been really tired of gbl. Haven't even watched your videos that much because of it and I hope that there are not alot of them who have been doing the same because I really enjoy your videos and I am happy for you that you have much more engagement than back like 6 years ago when I found your channel. Also tldr for those who don't want to read the whole thing is that lack of new gbl players and niantics bafling decisions to keep smeargle out of gbl is killing gbl.

I personally don't like the suggestion to limit people's pokemon to only being used 5 times a day etc. I think that would be less fun and would also harm content creators who try to run a spicy team all day to create videos on them. Also I don't like using meta Pokemon but I have only just recently come back to the game so I really don't have many Pokemon to use in PVP so it would spoil it for me as well personally - I have a couple semi-spicy teams I like to run that I have built on my own, which is something that I enjoy about PVP, rather than running other people's teams.

I would still say a cp formula rework is what we need most

I battle with non meta mons as I like to be different and appreciate the challenge, I play GBL as I enjoy quick strategy battle games like this

I would reward elo points based on Pokémon used. Not fair to reward 70 elo for toxic teams. And maybe even bonus points for shiny or shadow Pokémon

All the things listed in the video are true but i think that fixing the cp formula would make the variety a lot wider.... If every mon is on a kinda equal field there can be a lot more team variety with more cores and corebrakers ecc.

The lag and frame drops are unbearable! I’m not hating the meta but I think the issue is that there isn’t really any mons with useable/Viable moves in their arsenal. In turns of banning mons in the remix cups I’d recommend banning the top 50 mons that are ranked, that’ll really change and mix up the mons used. They could also add the “Bring 6, pick 3” mode as well

I dont even care about elo that much but when even building a single pokemon requires so much dust, as a new player, I am not going to build experimental garbage but somewhat fun meta pokemon. The only solution that from my perspective is that niantic has to massively nerf power ups. You can to play a billion games on pvp and catch another billion to build one decent pokemon, if you have been player for longer maybe it is not a big problem but as a new player the balance between gaining and using stardust is obsurd.

Before adding any features Niantic needs to fix what they have now. No more lag, no more stuttering, no inconsistent game play. What is the point of adding new features when these features wont be working properly.
