Check out this video where Dr. Karam answers your Facial Filler Questions!! NOTHING HELD BACK! • Plastic Surgeon Answer...
Have you seen Gwen Stefani's new look in the news lately? The conversation is mainly about how she no longer looks like herself, and the question I am asked the most as a plastic surgeon is, "how do I get a facelift and still look like myself?" The truth is, can be done! My approach is to make you look as young as you feel by making you look like a younger version of yourself - NOT like someone different. In this video, Dr. Karam breaks down Gwen Stefani's before and after appearances, as well as going over what you can do to avoid bad plastic surgery.

Personally I think Gwen Stefani looks great! We are similar in age and the only unreal part is her total lack of aging. Andie McDowell, for instance hasn’t touched her face and is still beautiful. I think it is much kinder, as role models for so many, that slebs embrace aging & have self esteem to do so. I think a majority of Stefani fans probably could never afford such procedures. JLo is another unrealistic 50+ example.

I’m a 42 year old woman who has never kept up with trends of any kind. I stick to a simple classic look because me everything else feels dated eventually. But at least clothing and hair are temporary. You might laugh at yourself in old photos but that’s the worst of it. Surgically altering your face or body based on a trend is inconceivable to me.

100% agree. The BBL fad is the scariest thing I’ve seen in a long time. I’m almost 40 and I’ve contemplated Botox, and have yet to do it because I’m a 🐔 and I’m more afraid of botched Botox than the lines forming in my face.

@@carmeng5421 For sure. Trends or popular things sometimes are the worst things you can do! Laying in the sun all the time makes people look like shoe leather & can cause cancer & death. Opioids are extremely popular. They cause you to feel good & more often than not they wreak havoc & kill you! Body procedures are very popular, as most have stated & what I've witnessed, most of the time you can tell even if they lie about it bcuz it looks like crap & yep people die from it! Look at Joan Rivers. No disrespect, but she looked horrible from the 1st one til the last one that killed her! Come to think of it, her eyes were getting almost non existent! Now her daughter has had to live all those extra years without her mother bcuz of Joan's insecurities! Now if you have an accident or born with disfigurement is a different story & even then you have to decide if it's more dangerous to fix it or not. I mean it's each person's right to do what they want! Imho I'm going to be happy with what God gave me. Spend my life doing & enjoying things that make me & my family happy & not worry one bit about what anyone thinks about my looks!! To me, life's to short to not enjoy life, family & friends!! I'm not wasting any of it on trivial things! I know a lot of gorgeous ugly people!! My life has no room for it! That is just my journey & opinion! Whatever anyone decides to do or not do, I hope y'all have very blessed lives & a great day!! 💜

As a "normal" seeing people with virtually unlimited funds and resources to go to THE BEST plastic surgeons and come out looking "odd", it leaves little hope for someone like me who'd undoubtedly be searching for a deal/discount/affordable option. If someone with so much money can end up looking so bad, what hope is there for the rest of us? Can't imagine saving up for years just to get a botched job. So I've learned to just live with what I've got.

They don't look bad though. People just shame them for getting plastic surgery. Look at Cher. She has been around for so long that nobody remembers natural Cher and so she can get away with looking like she does and dating 30somethings at 80+. She gets a pass because she's been around for so long that nobody is old enough to bitch about how "old Cher was much better" and so on.

There is quite a lot one can do at home with non-invasive laser, light therapy, & microcurrent, devices these days. It's far better to invest in good skincare (& daily SPF), as well. These days, nearly all the skincare companies offer payment plans, so you don't have to drop a huge amount of money all at once, & here in the USA (not sure how it works in other countries), nearly all skincare companies offer money back guarantees, so if you use something for 30 days, & don't like the product, you can send it back & have your money returned. Personally, I love the skincare line offered by Augustinus Bader (I tried The Cream, after seeing before & after photos, & haven't looked back since), & I highly recommend it to everyone I know. The Solawave (red light device) has worked wonders for hyperpigmentation. I also invested in a silk pillowcase (just for my top pillow) as silk is really gentle on skin & hair, & is naturally antibacterial. I prefer the old adage, of growing older gracefully, rather than drastic measures, myself.

@@butterflycafe1556 oh yeah? I never see any of the kind of hateful comments directed at Cher like for example Madonna gets. Maybe Cher also just isn't relevant enough anymore for people to rail against her. I'm in my 50s and Cher is my parents generation. Which is crazy to think about lol And do they need need to quit? Idk. How do you know? You can decide your own norms, right? It's their body their choice. Just ignore it if you don't like it would be my suggestion. Easy enough to steer clear of celeb gossip. All the best.

Lorry Hill did an excellent overview of all of Gwen’s suspected work. I agree she’s had at least two facelifts, maybe three. She’s been getting work done for years. Go back to her No Doubt days. She looks so different now and artificial. This last procedure was more noticeable because she apparently went for the ‘foxy eye’ trend, which made her eyes looked pulled and smaller. I don’t understand the popularity of this trend. Why would you want your eyes to look smaller? She’s also had too much lip filler or one too many lip lifts. Her mouth looks unnatural, especially in close-ups. i was watching her on The Voice the other day and was do distracted by her face! The cheek implants also look odd. It’s another trend I don’t understand. It changes the whole structure of someone’s face. Look at Madonna. Hers is horrible. Dr. Amir is so knowledgeable! If I had a facelift, I’d want him to do it!

Last week was the first time I’ve seen her in a long while. I did not even recognize her. She’s had so much done to her lips she can’t smile. She may have had facelifts before but last year’s version looked more like her younger self. She at that time one could recognize her. Had she’d been by herself I would not have known who she was. I too found her so distracting I turned “The Voice” off. I have no idea who her surgeon was, but her look wouldn’t be advantageous to this surgeon and their practice. I’d rather look older than to become a person I didn’t recognize in the mirror. Wasted money!

I was a big No Doubt fan in my early teens, so I got introduced to Gwen Stefani when she was just past her mid 20's, but then I discovered their older albums and videos and saw the same Gwen but much younger and with softer make-up. Eventually she managed to mantain her same look to her 40's, of course her forehead never wrinkled. I didn't cared, many singers do that, even those who criticise her, like Courtney Love. I always admired that she was able to mangain her fitness, that's not plastic surgery, that's actual training routine. I'm not from the US so it's been quite some time since I've seen her, on her socials most photos are retouched so she always looks great. But just now, because of this video, I've looked up and saw her on that interview with her face like, bloated? Looking like some sort of blonde Kardashian, or a young Donatella Versace. It's really like she's no longer Gwen Stefani. It's sad that she felt the pressure to fulfil those crazy "beauty standards", when she has always been beautiful to begin with. There's nothing wrong if she wants a little help from a good surgeon, she had suffered from her divorce and probably it damaged her self-esteem, she can afford it and it's her money that she made herself with her talent. But it's sad when it's taken too far.

@@Genaonthego Last time I heard about her was when she did a Christmas Collab with a singer from my country, that was on 2018. But that was a novelty, I haven't heard her music since her first solo album. One can only wish with a No Doubt reunion, they only played once here in my country and I wasn't able to attend that festival since I was still a school student and the tickets were expensive. I don't know much about her life nowadays, besides her being a judge on "The Voice" and being on a relationship with a fellow judge after her divorce.

It took me a long time to make the decision to book a surgery with Dr. Karam in 2023 but I finally took the plunge. "Pushback" from friends and families was my biggest obstacle but finally decided that my decision was my decision and not anyone else's. I have nothing but the utmost confidence in Dr. Karam's expertise and aesthetic eye! The more videos of his I watch, the more excited I get and the more certain I am that I'm making the right decision and am putting my face in very competent hands!

This is one of the most informative info that I've ever watched on this topic!!!!!!!!! I've never had the money to get work done but based on what I see with celebrities & the famous, I've also had NO desire to get any work done EVER. I'm turning 61 next month & how you described the process of aging on the face was informative & understandable. I didn't understand the changes in my face & my complete powerlessness to stop these changes beyond cosmetics & dreaming about lip fillers & getting rid of the turkey neck. I had never put together the comprehensive nature of the face/neck & how doing just a single area will make one look strange. I also understand more about the drastic changes in the celebs/famous after having work done. Thank you.

I had a facelift . Best thing I ever did 5 years ago. Not one friend or family member had any idea whatsoever. It was natural looking and took away my Jowls and saggy neck because I lost a bit of weight. Two years after the surgery it looked it’s ultimate best . I searched and searched for a good surgeon and did my homework, especially studying the smas tissue . The amount of confidence it gives is amazing. Life changing. Study and get the right surgeon. I think too much fillers Is what a lot of the problems are with these celebrities. They go way overboard. A little filler Is fine, just need to know when to stop.

I've been doing research for years now. In the beginning I almost pulled the trigger on doing lasers, fillers etc etc. THANK GOD I didn't. I found out just how mnay people are left disfigured. I started reading more and more. What this surgeon here is saying is exactly what I've concluded from doing my own research. It seems I know now enough and all that's that left is to find the right artist for me that I can afford. I don't have endless financial resources unfortunately.

Love your videos. Even if your viewers don’t want/afraid to get/cant afford/ arent ready for plastic surgery, youre so well informed! I love watching just to learn about aging of skin and WHY and HOW! You stress good skin care routines and how that can make a difference down the road and I take that to heart. And now I know why it’s so important. I also learned about smaller procedures such as botox and fillers, microneedling and lasers, and what works for who, when, etc. I hope you are a professor on the side, you’re great at teaching.

He considers the entire oral facial harmony, not just cross bite...because no one is going to pull your cheek back and look at your occlusion...anyone can see a deep bite, open bite, "buck teeth" and so on. The general person might not know the terms, but the general person well be able to know, "hmm, their face is off". I found your video to be informative, very good points.
