Exactly, Ghost isn't even a Metal band. They have more in common musically with mid-late 60's rock and baroque pop than any Metal out there, even on their 1st record. People in the general public just see the macabre aesthetics and conclude that it's metal, They can understand imagery but really can't comprehend or distinguish music in general.

Drinks in the pit, a true story. We had a brat female walk into the pit with a drink. We asked nicely for her to take the drink back to the bar b/c people will slip. She poured the drink on the ground and one of our unsavory friends punched her and knocked her out. Me and another friend each grabbed one of her arms and we took her to some benches towards the entrance. Never saw her at a show again.

If i was to guess, I've probably seen Gwar and Cannibal Corpse live the most.

The bands who blow up the most are the bands who appeal to people outside the dedicated Metal fanbase. It's sometimes tough for dedicated Metal fans to work out why these bands blow up but my test is my sister who isn't into Metal but occasionally enjoys some things I show her. Like for example - she can enjoy some Metallica and can't stand Megadeth - it made me realize that the vocalist is hugely important, catchy hooks are important, and clean production (like The Black Album for example) is important. Commercial success isn't an indicator of how great a band is - it's more of an indicator of how much they can appeal to casual listeners of the genre, because people who casually listen to a little bit of "Commercial Metal" here and there actually make up the majority of the listeners of these bands.

My favorite band Hells Headbangers put out was Abysmal Lord. Probably my favorite band to come out in the last 10 Years!

I remember when I asked one of my friends "Ok, sure play me that Ghost band, what's the big deal about that band". I then heard about a minute or so and I was like "Dude, that's enough turn this shit off"! He was like "No you wanted to hear them, suck it up". I guess I got what I asked for, they were worse than I thought.

Guys bringing beer to the pit and sorry but middle of front row (In underground shows it's in the blast radius brah brah) never made sense to me, now I don't personally get pissed or even bothered by someone "accidentally" spilling a beer on me when the crowd gets wild and them flatbrims are flying everywhere, but I mean, you just have to wonder why they don't finish their drink before the band is playing when you're already paying like 20 bucks for a beer anyways, literally just wasting your money at that point. (And some venues I've seen 50 buck beer! 50 bucks! Whooooooooooweeeeeeeeeeeeeee! You gotta be real stupid to buy that one!!)
