The reason is simple uneducated marriages don't have time for unnecessary things.

It worked for the older generation because they had clearly defined roles and hierarchy of authority that each party accepted and wanted. Educated ones are always about standards which I believe sometimes hampers the relationship if those standards are not being met it tends to be a prob. whereas uneducated folks just go with the flow no extra ordinary standards and expectations and that in my opinion makes it work.

This is what i suggest and it will make your discussions more meaningful. Whenever you ascend on a topic, delineate the variables for consideration under that topic. So what do you consider as a long lasting relationship because we have some marriages that have ended 5 years ago but couples are still living together throwing dust in the eyes of observers.

It's easier when you put it this way; Modern marriages are mostly trynna be 50/50 (not necessarily financially) while older couples simply understood that it was and always had been 70/30. The man led and the woman believed in his masculinity and thus followed him as a head and she the neck. This is what ultimately led to better and longer lasting marriages in the olden days.

This is a bitter truth most Christian try to run away from or seem to alterate. But it is what it is. The statement "till death do us apart" is ine underrated phrase in christiandom. You can leave an abusive spouse who abuses in all forms. Be it a cheat, a narcissist etc. But until the person dies you can not remarry cos you vowed before God that its only death that should separate you. You become soul tied to your wife or husband that it's only death that can separate you two. Yes dont stay in a toxic marriage, go ahead annd divorce but know that you can not remarry until he or she dies. That is why so many churches or people abhor divorce or still stay in such toxic marriages because they know the severity of the issue. But the best is to leave and not remarry again (true Christians) than to stay and loose your sanity or life. Its sad seeing Christians and even men of God marry divorce amd remarry while their ex spouses are still living. Its good to make your Bible your daily manual else hmmmm.
