​@toddy914 unlike other religions, our direct sources are the prophet (pbuh) hadiths and thr Quran. Covering your full face is fine, but revealing the face and the hand is fine as well. It's not a different understanding, it's that women can pick their choice. Hijabs aren't to be forced, Allah will deal with those who disobey Him accordingly. I don't think a punishment for it in our life, but in the afterlife there is.

Do you know the story of races connected to Prophet Nuh's (as) sons? Ham Sham and Yafes were of Prophet Nuh's (as) sons.Kenan is also another son,but he was a Kāfir. Ham was black,Sham was white and Yafes was yellow. Ham's descendants went to Africa ,Sham's to Europe,and Yafes' to Asia. I grew up arround people from other races and religions, with different sexual orientations ans political affiliations, with mental or fisical challenges. I grew up seeing people as people, all different but all human. Now I see it different, there are humans that respect others, and there are humans who use prejudice and presumption of prejudice to disrespect everyone. Luckilly there are a lot of people that teach respect above all.

Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam clearly told us to uncover our faces during ihram. We can derive two important points from this statement- 1 - If uncovering the face was what was prevalent at that time meaning if women usually didn't cover their face there was NO need for this statement. You wouldn't need to clearly state something which is normally prevalent 2- The other point is that it was obligatory on women to cover their faces that's why prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam clearly stated not to cover the faces during ihram. May Allah guide us all

We can HOPE these women are the same on and off camera, but there’s no guarantee. I have the same thoughts whether is Muslim, Amish, what have you…. Who gets to make these decisions? Is it them? Do they know any other way to choose? Would they accept if their daughters didn’t want to cover at all? What’s the line? I also question why do they wear so many jewels and colors? I also thought Muslim women (just as some Christians believe) you shouldn’t be showy (colorful) and you shouldn’t adorn yourself in the material things of the world, ie jewelry… so who makes the decisions and who draws the lines. But if Allah had meant what these gentlemen want to construe, He would have said: yudnina ilai- hinna and not yudnina alai-hinna. Anyone who knows Arabic knows that yudnina alai-hinna cannot merely mean "wrapping up." Moreover, the words min jalabib-i hinna also do not permit of this meaning. It is obvious that the preposition min here signifies a part of the sheet, and also that wrapping up is done by means of a whole sheet and not merely by a part of it. The verse, therefore, clearly means: "The women should wrap themselves up well in their sheets, and should draw and let downa part of the sheet in front of the face." This same meaning was understood by the major commentators who lived close to the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Ibn Jarir and lbn al-Mundhir have related thatMuhammad bin Sirin asked Ubaidah as-Salmani the meaning of this verse. (Ubaidahhad become a Muslim in the time of theProphet (peace be upon him) but had not beenable to visit him. He came to Madinah in thetime of Umar and settled down there. He wasrecognized as equal in rank with Qadi Shuraih in jurisprudence and judicial matters). Instead of giving a verbal reply Ubaidah put on his sheet and gave a practical demonstration by covering his head and forehead and face and an eye, leaving only the other eye uncovered.Ibn Abbas also has made almost the samecommentary. In his statements which have been reported by lbn Abi Hatim and lbn Marduyah, he says: "Allah has commanded the women that when they move out of theirhouses for anoutdoor duty, they shouldconceal their faces by drawing and letting down over themselves a part of their sheets, keeping only the eyes uncovered." The same explanation of this verse has been given by Qatadah and Suddi.
