When looking into pop culture, you don't have to go very far before you find some sort of reference to dinosaurs. Sometimes massive, sometimes terrifying, these ancient reptiles have become cornerstones in the culture of North America and the world as a whole, especially following the release of Jurassic Park, one of the most popular franchises in cinema today.
So with a chokehold like that on the world, it should come as a little bit of a surprise that there actually aren't that many teams across the sporting world---and even fewer in college sports---that use dinosaurs as their nickname or mascot. Purdue-Fort Wayne and Calgary in USports Canada are the two main ones that come to mind. But why is it that they're so rare?
Join me and my friend @empire1800 as we try to discover why that is, and what possible changes could be made to existing schools and nicknames that could give them a fitting prehistoric flair.
