All rioting does is create attention but it does not solve the problems of what ever people are rioting about. Solutions to problems requires different proactive strategies that are long-term and sustainable. Rioting often leads to unnecessary police brutality and unfair jail sentences.

The government should go harder for the people with a windfall tax on these companies but also there’s a massive loophole in the windfall tax which is a super deduction that was introduced by Sunak when he was chancellor and these companies claim that they use this to invest in infrastructure in the UK but in reality it’s going back to shareholders in dividends and share buybacks. There’s economic think tanks such as Common Wealth who showed that even from the months from April to June this year Shell payed out nearly 11 times more to shareholders Payouts at $6.2B than it invested in renewables at $600M and even funnily enough spent $3.1B on fossil fuel oil and gas infrastructure. So it’s essentially a transfer of money from people who are struggling to those big companies.
