Elon Musk bought Twitter to fight for the freedom of speech. I don’t believe it. He did it to earn more money. How? Monetize and reduce costs. And we all know that the “best” way to reduce costs is to fire your employees. Ten managers for single developer? Perhaps. But will he fire developers as well? Not sure about that.

You should see that "my day at the office" a twitter employee posted. They live in luxury. They have red wine on tap, and they sip it out on the balcony sunbathing between their meetings. These people get to decide what everyone else is allowed to know and say. Them being fired is probably the only thing they have ever earned.

To be honest, I could't care less. I don't have tweeter or facebook and I think I'm better like that.

My guess is that he wouldn't do it without an expectation of profit, which is a stretch since I don't think Twitter has ever made a profit. He thinks he can do it by cutting costs, and generating more revenue; that's the definition of the formula. However, I also think he has genuine free speech motives. He likely has both motives. It's similar to how some worthy open source projects like iNav attract coders. I assume positive intent.

Twitter has always been privately owned. People say "publicly traded" as if that isn't privately owned. The Saudi Prince has owned a chunk of Twitter for years and nobody complained. Now suddenly when Elon says "free speech" people are concerned? I think people are more concerned that their political tool has fallen into someone else's hands.
