A good measure would be "how many foodbanks have closed because they are no longer necessary?". But I agree, Mr Sunak and his wife are pretty much insulated against the cost of living. The whole "we've halved inflation" speaks to this being out of touch because a) the government didnt do anything - it just waited and b) inflation means prices are rising. Maybe not as fast as they were before but still higher than 5 years ago. To which, if asked, he would wheel out the usual excuses - which would illustrate my point that they didn't do anything.

Inflation falling at a lower rate just means prices are rising at a slower pace. Yes this is good but nothing to jump up and down for. The amount of accumilated inflation since 2019 in the UK is approx ' 35% on average. Yeah I agree that destructions of global supply chains via Covid and Ukraine war has about 80% of this in the bag but the other 20% I put down to Brexit and the Tory party forcing the UK to be dependent on imported gas and crude oil. These pricea are set globally not in the UK. Our suppliers in the UK sell to the highesr bidder. Just like Covid the UK shut down its defence against spikes in gas prices buy dismanteling out strategy gas storage a year before the spike. Just like Bojo cancelled the NHS pabdemic unit 😳😡😳😡. Bojo and the Tories do not see the value of risk management and it investment. They only see things when it is front of their eyes and even then if it does not give them a political win in thr short term they ignore it, until the shit hits the fan, thrn they try to brame others. Well after 14 years the British people have finally worked out who the Tories are. Well to be honest it has tajrn them over 50 years to be honrst, since Thatcher. Plus there are above inflation pay rises due to come into effect in April- which will have to be passed on to the consumer, and Sunak seems to think the economy is turning the corner, all because he has "a plan". The only thing that will save the UK economy this year is if there is a boost from the British AI sector in the same way as it's boosting the American economy

The other problem for Sunak is that economists generally measure the economy on the basis of the average across the whole economy. Because the Tories have presided over a massive increase in wealth inequality, growth in the average is increasingly just a measure of growth in the economy for the wealthy. People will never experience an improvement in their lives when the economy grows until wealth inequality is addressed.

What a nauseating individual. Sunak telling us how much better off we are is the antithesis of pouring salt onto a wound. Why doesnt someone drag him round the inner cities and food banks without the usual captive audience.
