Actually after taxes, service costs (such as MetroPass which is different than Taxi service), food costs, Federal, State, and Local taxes, House costs, including Federal and State level income taxes, in the Big Apple the percentage of disposable income is actually around $10K less less than North Dakota, the most landlocked State in the US, and North Dakota earns on average about as much as NY state. The price increases are dramatic if you enjoy eating out or other excursions to enjoy luxuries such as restaurants, going to movies.

I moved from Ohio to Tampa Florida for that #1 reason. Shoveling snow for 5 months and ice scraping your car windows before leaving home or work gets old. I was going to dedicate an entire channel just for this topic but I don’t have any video editing skills. Luckily for me, I didn’t have to look for work when I moved. I simply transferred my job so no cut in pay or loss of seniority. Only downside for me was the cost of living was MUCH cheaper in Ohio than Tampa. But you know what, I don’t mind forking out the extra dollars because I can comfortably walk to my mailbox in February while wearing flip flops.

I've been living in FL for 17 years and I like it a lot. It is not for everyone though. Some people complain that is too humid & hot during summer. But I was born & grew up in Puerto Rico so I'm used to hot weather & humidity anyway. To me the pros outweighs the cons. I like the laid back lifestyle too plus great beaches, lots of different restaurants to choose from, theme parks, stores, diverse culture, no state income tax, etc. Spring & Winter are the best seasons to go out due to the nice weather. Summers can be schizophrenic lol, but that's normal due to the tropical/sub-tropical weather. I don't think I could ever live in a place with lots of cold & snow every year.

There is no logic or reason living in Liberal Land. I live in NJ. It's a slice of HELL being under Liberal rule. I will be fleeing within the next 2 months. More FAKE numbers for the government to mind control you with. LIBERAL STATES BLOW. And if you think not, I welcome you to come move to NYC or NJ. The (much lower) Taxes - two old friends, one living in NJ pays $15,000 property tax per year, the other in a suburb just north of NYC pays $10,000. My property tax first year in Palm Bay was $2,200, this year when the homestead exemption kicks in, will be about $1,800. And then there are highway tolls. Driving back to NY, heading from the NJ Turnpike to the Goethals Bridge, there are two welcome signs. One says 'Welcome to New York', the next one says 'Car Toll $15.00'. And the sales tax rate in Florida is 7%, around the NYC metro area its 8.625%.

Hi Michael, I love your videos! When you are over 50, you get tired of dealing with harsh winters. You also get tired of northern metro areas that continually raise taxes and business regulations. We also get tired of city mayors who will not protect the people from rioting hoodlums (yes, I'm over 50). In 3 years I will be moving to Florida, and then bringing my wife from Colombia. P.S.: I used to live in Naperville, Illinois. Everything in Illinois has gotten worse.

As for a quick advice for special needs students who are age of 21 which is make sure have requirements like having no longer support of your IEP, transfer credit from a community college, and finished your transition program, community college, or both.

Although I’ve never lived in Florida, I have been visiting the state yearly since the 1980’s to visit my retired parents and many other relatives who live there. Florida has gotten way too overcrowded over the years. Homeowner’s insurance is very high due to the frequent hurricanes - during the hurricane season. The humidity is unbearable most of the year - it’s even worse in southern Florida. The state is very pretty, full of lakes and beaches, but it is flat without mountains - unlike the western states, that are full of mountains and beautiful deserts. Florida is nice to visit, but I much prefer the western states - like AZ, NV, CA, NM- with the mountains, deserts, and dry climate. By the way I do not live in Florida; I just visit there to see my relatives and friends.

I'm gonna have to give myself 2 years before I make the move. I want to save money. hopefully $10,000-$15,000 would be good enough to move. I dont wanna just move and not having any money. That would mean I would most likely start having a hard time. So I wanna make sure that the financial part is taken care of. In your opinion, what's the best thing to do?. Rent a apartment or buy a house?. I am only one guy with no family or nobody else moving with me. unless they actually have 1 bedroom houses in Florida. Preparing for 2 years should be a good enough time for me to make a list of goals, figure things out financially, and thinking about any important things. and also by that time, the pandemic should be well over and the economy goes back to normal or yet even better than before.
@MichaelBordenaro
@MichaelBordenaro 4 жыл бұрын
That is certainly a reasonable timeline and it sounds like $10-$15,000 would certainly be enough money especially if it's just you. As far as renting or buying most people tend to rent first when they get here because if you buy too soon and you're not sure about the area you may end up regretting the purchase and have to sell and lose money in the process. I would suggest renting for at least a year see if you like the area and then possibly explore other areas that you might be interested in as well before deciding on where to buy. I've never seen one bedroom houses here in Florida but there definitely are two bedroom houses that can be affordable depending on the area. But I think your general plan of getting all your ducks in a row your goals and your checklist before moving is extremely smart and you're almost certain to succeed. 👌

It largely depends on the type of jobs we are talking about. Yes it’s true, for entry level jobs the pay here in Florida is not so great. Shazzy1228 12 years experience they didn’t care at all and like I said I was union back in Ohio and saying that In Florida is a big NO lol I live in Orlando, excellent city,clean,progressive, I haven’t had any problems, all the talk about crime I haven’t seen any but that depends on what your into but Orlando is family oriented fun and a fast and up coming city, my only issue is jobs and everybody’s story is not the same you might can come down there and get the wages you want but for me I totally had to revamp my career to live the life I want down there, the quality of life in Ohio was terrible even tho I made excellent money it wasn’t worth it “ crime ridden, no growth, terrible winters,no sunshine ever I had to get outta there it was draining and depressive it’s even worse now and I left in 2018

I'll take the freezing cold. At least you can go outside without being eaten alive by bugs for a few months :) I would miss the changing seasons, Autumn leaves changing color, crisp cool (Low Humidity) air, Drinking pumpkin spice coffee while wandering a forest full of Autumn splendor. Clear sunny cold winter days after a snow storm and marvel the way the sunlight dances off of the freshly fallen snow like a symphony of light. Yeah it's not the best place to live but nature makes up for that if you let her.

Well the number one reason why everyone is moving there is stupidity. Once you move down there and realize it's not like being on vacation. Jobs don't pay good the traffic is crazy And it's so hot 7 months out of the year it's just not worth it in my opinion.

@@michaelknight7820 I agree with the traffic and the not being on vacation part. Once you live here, you're not on vacation every day. But the jobs, at least down here in Miami, I would have to disagree. Everyone I have worked with as a realtor, have all had pretty well paying jobs, usually more than I make! And I have helped hundreds of people move here. But I know in like Orlando for example it is a problem

I was at the car wash station in the 3 Islands Apartments parking lot and met a guy washing his BMW who said he was moving back for lack of work. I asked what he did. He said "brain surgeon". A bit of a bizarre example, but to be there and be me, it was scary to hear. When everybody is retiring in an area, few are hiring, and that means they don't have to pay the "market price". They become price setters, hagglers. I was hired as a Pascal programmer, something most people could only get in college, for $24k a year. Like I said in other comments, this pay was probably more than some others with even more education than I. I would urge folks not to bury themselves in a hole, and just think "I will improvise, it will get better, I will find something". Life has a way of interrupting your meteoric rise out of poverty into the 1% at Mar A Lago. Get a moving bonus, or have one you built from life savings, because life happens. I had a car burst into flames coming out of this toll booth www.google.com/maps/@26.1911928,-80.2099688,18z and the car made it to this funeral home goo.gl/maps/StLBMfUNrayuHc2Y8. Chrysler denied responsibility, even though the car was less than 1 year old. I was upside in debt, and working for less than expenses. Don't make work for yourself in life, always try to gain leverage and safety.

Oi Rogeria, todo bem? Eu falo poco Portugeuse😉 My wife is Brazilian also, from Rio. The main differences with Orlando and Miami are the cultures. A lot of people in Miami don't even speak English, and when they do, all of their accents vary, because they are from all over the world. Orlando does also have an international population of tourists, but also a lot of Americans live there and you will hear American English often

Please don't turn our state blue. I like no income taxes, and the rent prices and percent of disposable income is great due to everything including services being unprotected or restricted by protective legislation. I don't need it being messed up by clueless busybodies. Alot of hispanics and white rural industries couldn't handle what you want from your blue states. It's why the Hispanics can afford Education down here, and why California has one of the most hostile advanced education attainment environments to hispanics: Cost.

@@MichaelBordenaro Well I didn't know what your mindset or the mindsets of people coming here are. I just want those that watch your video to know that if they come, they shouldn't practice what they left from in blue states. An example of the preference I hold and why I hold such, is comparing Houston with LA, comparable industries but rents and housing half the cost, and after federal and state income taxes, along with mortgage or rent alone, LA is indisputably more hostile to someone earning around 50K, and for those earning more or less it's much nicer because of the opportunities and lowered costs, meaning we don't have the hispanics trying to get at hipsters throats, because they can afford to live and succeed even with lesser skill sets, like our maid who makes 49K a year if she just did two houses a day on weekdays (excluding weekends) for how much we pay her. I've actually met her son whom I knew online and at paintball, and even went to our barebones Community College (as in only $10k for a bachelors degree including in computer programming and engineering, meaning they don't have their own museum rather than the private-public museums).

Moved to Gainesville from Michigan 2 years ago. All the reasons plus many more. Michigan is a dying state and so is a lot of the Midwest. There is no growth, weather is terrible, and there is absolutely nothing to do other than gossip. Here in Florida I enjoy the simplicity and enjoyment of life way more than I ever did in Michigan. As a side note, me and my fiance decided to move here after taking a 6month road trip around the east coast and Midwest, and Florida was easily the best to live in compared to all the other states.

There is not enough time to visit all of the attractions and things to do in Florida. Being a resident for over 15 yrs and I am still on vacation mode. The downsize to probably living here is the fact that there are so many attractions and if you work weekends then is hard to enjoy them. I also think that things are far in distance. So planning for the traffic is key. I live in the Disney area and is amazing how much traffic there is but I have gotten used to it.
