Why Fergie Disappeared
#FERGIE
At first glance, Fergie needed absolutely no convincing of the star power she withheld not only because of her gimmicky style and playful rapping but because she was the only female member of the iconic and hugely successful Black Eyed Peas group which ultimately made her stand out. She branched out into a successful solo career and vanished while she was in her prime. Here’s what happened....
Some of Her Notable Hits: Fergalicious, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Clumsy, London Bridge, Glamorous, You Already Know
Albums: Dutchess, Double Dutchess
Associated Acts: the Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am, Nelly Furtado, Gwen Stefani, Nicki Minaj

I know the feel bro. Both Fergie and the BEPs feel like they might as well be from last century, despite their success slowing only in the 2010s. Granted, I’d much rather have them stick around than fucking Maroon 5.

I wouldn’t say she “disappeared”. She had her time and was in one of the biggest groups of all time that had hits after hit . Couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing BEP. I mean she was relevant for a LONG time. She “completed” her career if that makes sense . She’s a big part of my childhood . Idk , love you fergie.

Like really... I'm not an from the USA, but I can tell you what Europeans think of Americans and their pride.... it's not positive. To destroy someone's carreer (that already was not going very well) entirely, JUST because she didn't do well with the National Anthem? I mean... come on, give them a break! Fergie was an idol back in the days and her music is still on the radio every now and then, which is more to say than some other artist in the past ten years!

Do "Why Akon Disappeared". I've always wondered what happened to him, and why he disappeared after his third album in 2008. He hasn't released an album since then and his last big hit was "Sexy Bitch" with David Guetta in 2009. So what happened? I haven't been able to find much info regarding just what he's been up to. EDIT: Okay, apparently he's been releasing some stuff over the past year. He just released a Spanish album, oddly enough.

From what read I think it could all be her ex-husbands fault. No idea if it is true. He wanted her to quit and focus on family. They got divorced because he wanted more children. Possibly she wanted to reconcile with her ex-husband Thanks to him.Now they got a new singer they must really like. When she wanted back they had replaced her they moved on. Maybe they should keep the new girl and ask Fergie back to the band and have two singers. They are not the same anymore. Possibly her replacement does not want that.

But when Adele takes time off it is all okay, since she never ever reinvented herstelf putting out three same sounding albums with two songs who sound slightly different and everybody is still amazed by her. Fergie is in my eyes an artist who takes risks and create what she wants. Not a standardised Singer like Adele of any for that matter. But i guess the people for who she creates that art got so entitled to think hmmm it is not my sound so I don't show support. I guess that was her downfall. Oh yeah and everybody who kept on nagging over that freaking anthem I respect the anthem but it is too strict for an artistic soul to play with.

@@luukxd123 Adele and Fergie have a total different style, you can't compare them. As you said, Adele has a "fixed" style, which a looot of people seem to like, that's why they don't mind waiting. Fergie, being a risk taker artist, should know that a taking a risk can be either good or bad, people might like her new music or don't like it at all/be neutral about it. The thing is that lately Fergies risks haven't been pretty relevant (comparing to her 2006 era). edited bcs I was sleepy when I wrote this lol it had a lot of typos

Fergie chose the perfect timing to go solo. I remember back in the summer of 2006 I had just turned 21 and I was partying in LA. The nightclub where I was partying released the world premiere for London Bridge and the crowd went wild. It was one of those songs that sounds good the first time you hear it. There wasn’t a music video available yet so they only displayed her name and the name of the song on the TVs. A few weeks later the video was released and they later had an album release party at the club. It’s sad that we might never get to experience good music like that of the 2000’s ever again.

I really hope Fergie makes a come back, I've missed her voice being on the scene; I've also missed the complete line up of The Black Eyed Peas as well! Side note, I've been wanting one last No Doubt album too (but I think Gwen would see that as going to far back). I feel like like older artists can't make good comebacks. At least, not to the level that they were in their prime. After you hit 35+, most music consumers (who are mainly kids) want their artists to be young, unless you're Beyonce or Rihanna lol. If an older artist makes a comeback, it needs to be purely for their diehard fans, because it would be hard for them to be popular in mainstream. It's extremely ageist, and I hate that I'll probably never see my favorite artists from the early 00s make a comeback, but that's just how it seems to work.

She is an icon. BEP blew up after she came on the group and in every single song her verses and choruses is what you remember best. Her debut album was huge with number ones and hit after hit. Idk if her and nelly Furtado ever made up but a tour together would be great to bring back the nostalgia of the mid 2000s

Fergie's talent is so underrated! Like have you seen her performance on the musical Nine? She deserved an Oscar for that! (Go check it out on KZfaq) She can rap, belt a pop ballad like in her song Finally, or even go full rock like on her wild song with Slash 'Beautiful Dangerous', and even doing justice to 'Gimme Shelter's when she performed it live with Mick Jagger and U2 on the Rock'n'roll Hall of Fame in 2009! Sure she has off days like when she sang the anthem, but that's because she's not one of those souless prefabricated pop stars that are always lip synching!

6:48 Fergie is *not* the first white mainstream female rapper. She is a white female who raps lyrics written by the Black Eyed Peas' writing team, but she was always a pop artist who dabbled in the R&B and rap genres and never marketed herself as a "Rapper". The first white female to "rap" on a mainstream track was Debbie Harry in Blondie's "Rapture" which hit Number 1 on Billboard back in 1981. I put "rap" in quotations because Debbie Harry from Blondie isn't a rapper either, just like Fergie isn't a true rapper, both were pop artists (Debbie in rock/punk/new wave, Fergie in pop/R&B) who use "rap" like colors on an artist's palette. Iggy Azalea was among the first white women in the music industry to EXPLICITLY MARKET herself as a "Rapper" (even she wasn't such a skilled emcee, so I put her in quotations too) and get on the microphone and try to freestyle, which she failed miserably at, and that's why SHE also disappeared and is not respected in the rap game nor the hip hop community.
