Nothing can compare to the boots from the 2010s, but realistically it’s probably because we’re not kids anymore. Nostalgia can hypnotise you and genuinely I don’t think football boot culture is dead I just think we’ve grown out of it and that it can’t feel the same as it ever has been. Also another reason why they were better growing up is because we really believed in the boot technology and marketing. Like I genuinely believed my mercurials made me a faster runner 😂

I started watching NBA last year and one thing that amazed me the most is the amount of random players (REALLY A LOT) with their signature boots and they are not even close to Rashford level in comparison lol. There is a guy named Scoot that got his own Puma shoes and he debuted this season, it's like Arda Guler having his own signature boot. They also do this with jerseys, all jerseys are sold with a name on the back, like people are more fan of the players than the team itself. I think it's because football is more team focused and basketball more player focused, only Ronaldo and Messi reached levels that people from any team or country love and could sell boots only because their name is on it

I wouldnt say its dead, because i keep track of a lot of the releases especially when its limited edition or special edition boots id say rather the innovation has reached the limit of what they're willing to do to make a project to eventually sell to the masses, like Nike is only willing to do so much nowadays. Ill give you and example, the Hazard boots the mercurial flynit ultra boots that came out in the latter 2010s those have probably been Nike's best boot in terms of innovation and actual quality and perfomance of the boot but then it feels like they tease you with something like that then go in a totally different direction. They released the phantom ultra venom boots a couple years ago now and then went onto the release the phantom GX silo which i get but at the same time it felt like they took one step forward and 2 steps sideways like it didnt match the concept that they were trying to showcase via the ultra venom. The superfly 9s and superfly 8s have been mediocre in my opinion, my favourite superflys have to be between the 7s and the 5s, the 5s because of the anotomical sole plate and overall feel of the boot and the 7s because of the same feel and the designs of the colourways just felt more out there and creative, now with the current superfly 9 its just a lot of air zoom branding which is annoying tbh. Adidas hasnt been able to do as well as nike and most of the time lately its been because theyve shot themselves in the foot with different silos like going from the speedflow to the speedportal felt like one of the biggest step backs and now it feels like they're making a new f50 to try get that nostalgia back about their boots like they did with the predators

Fr bro i came to school once with my new hypervenom's and I was the coolest kid for a week bro, but of course now football boot culture is mostly dead but I do have to give some credit to adidas for sort of bringing back football boot culture with the new predator tongue models for sure

Creo que uno de los problemas es que hemos crecido y envejecido junto con las marcas y los silos, entonces el factor nostalgia también entra a nuestra mente, antes nos fascinábamos por las botas como niños o adolescentes y genuinamente creíamos todo lo que las marcas nos intentaban vender. Ese sentido de “magia” se va perdiendo con los años y madurez. Hay botas que quedarán en mi memoria por siempre, más allá de sus materiales o qué tan buenas son, lo que me hace recordar es esa época donde vivía emocionado por la vida, donde todavía quería ser futbolista profesional, a lo mejor no tenía tantas lesiones, responsabilidades ni cosas más importantes por las cual preocuparme, más allá de esperar el siguiente Lanzamiento. 🚀 Hoy con 26 años y mi sobrino de 10 veo que el interés por las botas no ha disminuido, al contrario, ahora cada vez más niños se interesan por sus botas.
