This tribute is particularly significant as Maze featuring Frankie Beverly has been an integral part of the festival since its inception in 1995, serving as the closing act for the first 15 years
This tribute comes as Frankie Beverly, now 77 years old, is on a farewell tour and approaching retirement. The group's last appearance at the Essence Festival was in 2019.

One thing for sure, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly music is timeless. This is one of music OG of R and B soul. One of the greatest band and lead singer of all time. Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, 🙏🫰👏🤷!

I am in my feels about the tributes in the past two weeks. 🤦🏾♀️ I’m grateful for experience and memories of seeing him perform. FBs shoes cannot be filled.

It’s a tribute, but the lead vocals audio/sound was not good on KZfaq! Hope it was better in person! Luke James and Anthony Hamilton can absolutely sing, but this audio is really bad!

Now there will be 2 Maze cover bands. The other TMF will eat this group alive, because JUBU skills lone kills it. Sad part people come to see frankie, so I dont know how long this maze will last.

In his defense, he probably never anticipated his band leaving and forming their own group without him. He may have been planning on someone in that camp to replace him on vocals one day.

Why did this band change the musical arrangement to running away??? It's heartbreaking to watch & I guess they didn't do a soundcheck because the sound is awful. They're nothing like the original maze band😢

So now the other version of Maze that is comprised of the OG band (to the greatest extent possible) will be in competition with this version that is now without Frankie. It’s like an almost even playing field now that FB isn’t performing. But, I think the other version with the OG band wins. I would rather see them.
