This original video has its flaws. A lot of them. Most of the footage isn’t even from Germany. But there are huge stretches without speedlimits. And that works because we follow the rules. And yes you have to drive on the right lane. Left is only to surpass. Sure. Everybody who has a drivers license has driven on the Autobahn. It’s part of the driving lessons.

I live in Eastern Belgium, a 20/30-minute drive to the German border. Highway speed limit in Belgium is 120 kmh, i.e. 72-73 mph; even when on the German side of the border I've never dared to drive over 160 kmh (96-97 mph) "for the fun", but I'm usually not over 140 kmh (84-85 mph). It's always an experience to drive on my neighbors' Autobahnen at this already rather high speed and see more powerful cars pass you like flashes; don't forget to look in your left side mirror before e.g. passing a truck and changing lane! And keeping the right lane is the rule all over Europe; in most, if not all, of our countries you can be fined for keeping the left lane when not passing.

The footage where the sportscars overtake on the right side is such dangerous driving, that nobody would do in Germany, While I myself also drive around 200 km/h from time to time, when the lane is free or 180 when all cars are in a flow of 180, which happens actually sometimes it is totally fine, BUT Germans would never ever overtake on the right side! At these speeds it is absolutely vital to know that under any circumstances you can rely on the other participants on the Autobahn to be overtaken only on the left side only. The second rule is, to always drive as right as posisble. So if all lanes are free you drive right and only switch when you overtake someone.

@@jfrancobelgeI have a co-worker who is only driving in the left lane even at nights when the highway is empty. Like, really just no car in sight and he's cruising in the left lane for no reason. It pisses me off so much, I sometimes waste lots of time changing clothes after work just so I don't have to see him drive there, lol. But also, he got pulled over by the highway police some weeks ago. He told us about it and said how stupid that is, there was no other car on the highway, it was night blah blah blah. 180 Euro and a point (idk do other European countries get points as well and lose their license when reaching a certain amount?) He didn't learn, keeps driving in the left lane. Just thinking about it as I write it makes my blood boil 😩

They should up the speed limit for trucks from 80k to at least 100k imo, so they are more compatible with the faster road. Otherwise 2 lane roads are a bit dicey or you get stuck behind a truck. In UK truck limit is 60 on 70mph motorways and dual carriageways, so we actually have a faster limit for trucks (HGV) than on a German Autobahn. The biggest hazard is too much speed difference between adjacent lanes. Trucks have poorer stopping distances so should not be allowed the full unlimited, although I'm not sure how fast a truck goes with no restrictions.
@jurgenbaumann67

@@TimpBizkit 80 is okay. Sure brake got btter in the last 50 year, but also the trucks got bigger. But overtaking trucks should get harder fines. There is NO truck driving slower than 85 on right side, so no truck has a reason to overtake. They arent allowed to drive 85. And if they do othr cant be faster to overtake them without breaking rules.

In Europe, there is a REAL driving license, with the obligation to go through a driving school, with a very strict test. The license can be withdrawn for weeks, months, or canceled in the event of serious and repeated offenses. We don't squat in the left lane like in the USA. If accidents are fewer, it is mainly because the drivers are trained, and by professionals, not by mom and dad who also drives badly.

That's not as bad as it looks. There are rules: It is not allowed to overtake on the right. The lane is only changed for overtaking. The minimum distance is half the speed in meters (e.g. at 200km/h the minimum distance is 100m). If you then adjust the speed to the traffic density and the weather, it works quite well.
@pinkeHelga
@pinkeHelga 5 ай бұрын
All that stuff about calculating the braking distance you learn at driving school is nonsense. Nobody can calculate and estimate the distance in the traffic situations. One of the best rules of thumb is the 2 seconds rule. Remember a waypoint of the car in front and count 2 seconds. You should not pass that point before. 200 km/h = 55,5 m/s = 111 m / 2s That's the min. distance for following at equal speed. I use at least 3 seconds and I'm driving up to 240 km/h. Much more distance is required when approaching slow vehicles on the next lane. Just release the gas to adapt to a lower speed difference. In my experience most of the fast drivers drive way more correct, respectful and safe than many slow drivers, and I've driven very much time on the Autobahn. There are always those exceptions that put speeding drivivers in a bad light. Videos with correct driving behaviour don't generate clicks. I've often found speeding partners on the Autobahn, and we have passed the balls each other. We took turn leading and relaxed following and it worked great. When there is a section with a speed limit, I very often experience being overtaken by those slow drivers I just overtook. And while driving fast, you are much more focused on the traffic. I do not drive fast all the time. When the roads are almost free, I go for 20-30 minutes and then have a break at 130-140 to relax.

The USA has 4 times more inhabitants than Germany. In Germany, exactly 3046 people died in road traffic in 2019, in the USA in the same year 36120, i.e. 12 times more. It is not the speed that makes driving on highways dangerous, it is the poorly trained drivers and the many enormously large vehicles in the USA. Of the 36120 traffic fatalities, 6500 were pedestrians, compared to 417 in Germany. In the U.S., you get your driver's license almost for free, with no real training. In Germany, the driver's license costs between 2600 and 3500 euros. In a big city like Hamburg, the learner driver needs an average of 50 driving hours with an instructor. In addition, 12 theoretical sessions of 90 minutes each and 2 times 90 minutes of additional material. With more than 10 error points the examinee failed and must repeat the test after a blocking period of 14 days. Each driving lesson and theory session must be paid by him. It is expensive, but the expensive time-consuming training pays off.

Drivers don't get better with driving 50 hours with an instructor, that is ridiculous. I learned to drive in 10 hours and never had an accident. The drivers license is the permit to start learning and after a year of driving you will be an okay driver, before that, just drive responsibly and slow and defensive. The size of the cars is irrelevant, why should a bigger car cause more accidents? Trucks probably have less accidents per 100'000 miles than cars. Also when in the USA or Canada I always insisted on getting a European or Japanese cars. American cars are just not safe at higher speeds. It is more or less impossible to drive safely at higher speeds because the American cars can't hold the lane properly at high speeds. The suspension is too mushy and wobbly. Too imprecise.

When you get you driver license in Germany you ARE DEFINATELY an "okay driver". Otherwise you will NOT pass the examination successfully, for sure ! Most people need more than 1 try to pass, not unusual to need 4 to 6 tries, along with costy fees. The German permit is definately not the permission to start driving but the proof that you have shown your skills of proper driving and you are no risk for others.

Unfortunately some of the footage isn't from the German Autobahn. As you see these supercars driving left and right nobody does that here. The very right lane usually is the slow truck's lane. On the middle lane you can drive faster than the trucks but nothing wild. You are not allowed to overhaul anybody on the right lane to the one overhauling. You only can overhaul on the left lane. But then after you go Back in line. The rightest lane though is used for fast driving.

Certainly! In Germany, there is a rule known as "Rechtsfahrgebot," which means keeping right. This implies that when the right lane is clear, regardless of your speed (be it 150 or 300 km/h), you are expected to drive on the right lane. The left lane is specifically reserved for overtaking and should not be used as the default driving lane. This ensures a smoother flow of traffic and is particularly important on the Autobahn.

Dont forget, that the danger comes from speed difference to the other drivers, at least at your lane. Means: If you drive too slow, you are the cause of accidents and traffic jams! There is a minimal speed of 60kph/37mph for autobahn for a reason, otherwise you may use the nice country roads. If you drive slow, drive on right lane, if you need to overtake, change to midlane and adjust speed!!! or even left lane and just accelerate even more. If you dont accellerate to the average speed of that lane you might cause accidents. -> Or just switch on the radio, listen to music and and stay chilled on right line with EXACT 95kph/60mph and cruise control between the trucks which also uses cruise control. You dont lose much time with that but you save a lot of money for gas...

I did this a few years back around the time I turned 40. 210 km/h(130 mph) fells almost really scary to me. The problem is I think if a numerical speed limit was set at like 130 km/h(81 mph) I think a lot of people in Germany would rebel against it and could in return cause a lot more accidents and fatalities. The state of Montana in the US from November 1995 to May of 1999 and accidents fatalities, and injuries were at a historic low at the time. When a 75 mph ,aximum speed limit was placed fatalities and injuries more than doubled for at least the first few years.

I've been lucky. I've done a bunch of miles on the German autobahn in a fast car of a friend traveling for business. A beast of a traveling car. At night, we sometimes averaged almost 100mph. That's including sanitary/fuel stops and stretches of 50mph zones, as the German autobahn is always under construction. Driving fast keeps you very concentrated. That's why he asked me to come along, so we could switch places whenever one of us lost concentration by fatigue. That's what I think causes most accidents; distraction. Driving slow makes people do other things, like checking their messages, fumbling around with their hair, make up, radio, etc. At 125mph+ you don't do much else but drive!

It's called courtesy, something that doesn't fly in America. Wealthy Germans use their cars instead of business jets, to get from point a to point b in a hurry. They are also not texting or watching movies while they are supposed to be in control of their vehicles. They drive. North American drivers can barely steer their vehicles.

The passing only on the left has been mentioned multiple times. What hasn't been mentioned (often) is that you can and will get a fine if you pass on the right. Cops (and all other drivers) are really pissed at people passing on the right as nobody expects that to happen, making merging to the right much more dangerous if that were a regular occurence. Is it safe? Yepp, the Autobahn has fewer deaths per 100 000 (kilometers/miles/whatever units you like) than most other freeways/interstates/motorways around the world. The total number of deaths on the Autobahn are always counted in the few hundreds per year, whereas country roads are much more likely to result in deaths due to the much more restricted run-off areas, trees and other obstacles directly on the side, fewer safety measures, yada yada. Country roads make up for the vast majority of all deaths on any German roads but country roads have a top speed limit of 100 km/h for cars, and 80 km/h for any kind of heavier vehicles like semis, busses, and any heavier vehicles than 3.5 tons (which includes many US built full size trucks or SUVs). The number of deaths includes the much higher number of bike and pedestrian inner city deaths here than in the USA (due to the fact that most of Europe has a much greater number of each than the USA). The USA is massively car centric, whereas the vast majority of European cities are based predominantly around public transport, walkability, bike transit. While cars do exist in high numbers even in cities, it is MUCH lower than in the USA. One mile is 1720 yards, or roughly 1.68 km. So any kilometer numbers are higher in numerical value, but when converted to mph that translates to a lower mph value of roughly .45 mph per kilometer per hour. So 100 mph is roughly 168 km/h. But the 435.8 km/h from 1938 would still be a staggering 270 mph (roughly). _________ The number of clips stitched into this video that are NOT from Germany is staggering. As a German I can tell you from multiple tell-tale signs that most of the really sketchy ones DEFINITELY were not from Germany. First one 0:55 actually probably WAS from Germany. But the speed was a mere 140 something km/h or 86 mph. The accident caused here was by a clear misunderstanding between the car behind and the car in front seeming to pull over, but then failing to do so. 0:59 definitely not. Tell tale signs: wrong type license plates, wrong language on truck, no side line indicator poles, no right side crash barriers. 1:00 this was real but caused quite an uproar as any kind of formula car is usually NOT street legal so shouldn't be driven on the Autobahn, but only on specific race tracks. This was probably the infamous Czech collector who wanted to take his modified Formula 3 car for a spin on the Autobahn. He got heavily fined for it, IIRC. 1:24 Green line of sight separator panels on the center crash barrier. While some, very rarely, do exist in Germany, most of them were a) pure white, and b) removed after having been the cause of crashes. So nope, this isn't in Germany. Also the absolutely insane passing on the far right lane is something you don't usually see in Germany. Only by absolutely reckless scoff-laws. Last indication: nearly all cars had license plates without the blue EU indicator rectangle on the left side. While there certainly are quite a few of those sprinkled in among German Autobahn traffic, seeing ALL of them with non-EU plates is very, Very, VERY improbable. 2:53 Yes, this was from Germany, but again, from a car collector from the Czech republic who took his Bugatti Chiron for a spin on the Autobahn. It was NOT the top speed of over 417 km/h that got him fined, it was that he a) took a video of his behavior which included him passing a speed limit sign WAAAAY beyond the allowed speed limit, and b) it was the second part of the video where he declared that he would be racing his own time again to see if he could improve it. THAT'S where the German traffic regulations bit him in the ass. See, the Autobahn may be unlimited speed in some locations, but it is NOT a race track. It is a means of conveyance for ALL people in Germany. Racing is not its intended purpose, and racing on it isn't technically allowed. If people unintentionally give each other a race, all's fine and dandy. But when you declare your intention ON VIDEO to use it as a race track, while potentially endangering others with that behavior, then release the whole video on the internet, with proof of your behavior; THEN the German traffic code has a few words to say about that. THAT'S what got him fined heavily in the end: reckless behavior endangering others. 3:46 tell tale: wrong types and width of lane arrows (especially the split lane arrows) on the ground, no blue arrow signs indicating an exit, no overhead blue road signs (which are mandatory over every split along the Autobahn intersections), no 300, 200, 100 m indicator signs on the right side demarking an exit; again, no blue EU indicator on ANY of the license plates; finally in the last second of the clip a GREEN overhead sign (Autobahn signs in Germany are blue; green is reserved for small signs indicating a historical location and they have to be placed far to the right of the Autobahn so as not to be confused with direction signs). So, loads is wrong, making me absolutely certain; nope, not in Germany. 4:41 Nope, again, not Germany: Advertisement signs are NOT allowed on the side of the Autobahn in Germany. They have to be VERY far off, not right on the side so as to not distract drivers while driving. Also the language on the sign is definitely NOT German. The yellow exclamation mark in the rear window of the tailgated car is also an indication that this is a beginner driver in some European states (I am not certain which), but not in Germany. 4:53 I had to laugh so hard when I stopped at that point. Guess what? German uses the Roman alphabet, not pictogramms for letters. Watch the right hand sign in yellow (again, not a sign color allowed on the German Autobahn). Tell me what you see there? For other tell tales: again, wrong license plate shapes, designations of letters and numbers, yada-yada-yada. I'd gather this video was somewhere from Asia. So probably the longest distance you could get on this planet from Germany while still having a street similar to an Autobahn. This was a REALLY, REALLY (!) bad stitch. 5:26 While this configuration of cars may, possibly, occur on the German Autobahn I would believe it to be very, VERY rare indeed, as two of the three cars shown were typical of more Eastern European countries like Belarus, Ukraine, Moldavia, etc. Again, wrong license plate shape, no EU-blue indicator on the license plates. Again; center crash barrier sight limiting panels which barely if at all exist in Germany. Also central street lights do occur very rarely in Germany, but they are exceedingly rare, and are usually only on any kind of Autobahn leading through city areas where it might be necessary for drivers to adapt slowly to night time driving from brightly lit inner city areas to when the car leaves the built up areas. This video however seemed to be from somewhere in the country side where these kinds of street lanterns are INCREDIBLY rare, if existing at all in Germany on the Autobahn. 5:48 Again, license plate shape, wrong letters. Sign at the side of the road indicating a road side rest stop is also the wrong shape, with a (for Germany) technically not legal sign configuration (Germans have regulations for BLOODY EVERYTHING!). Too high central concrete crash barrier (not allowed to be that high in Germany). Yellow lane markers only exist during construction areas, being of higher importance and canceling out the white line markers. A mix of both colors at the same time as permanent markers doesn't occur in Germany. So, nope, not Germany again. 6:35 finally a truly sketchy scene from a German speaking country, as the trucks showed the German language on their side. Howeeeeeever, the license plate of the victim was again not from the EU (again, no blue EU indicator). That does NOT mean that this was not from a German speaking country, or possibly even from Germany itsself. It just shows that Germany still has its fair share of tailgating idiots. I am absolutely certain if this DID happen in Germany that the mandatory car liability insurance WILL have paid, but they will also have increased the insurance fees for the tailgater massively due to this accident and his behavior. Come on, he was dumb enough taping a video of his tailgating activities, then of the crash, definitely showing he was WAAAAY too close for his speed. That means he is 100% accountabale for all damages of that crash. _____________ To sum it up, of ALL the really sketchy clips stitched together only TWO MAY (!) have been from Germany. Even the incredibly high speeds are not inherently illegal in Germany. Only treating the Autobahn like your own personal race track is. For your last few comments on how it should be regulated: hehe, come on, this is Germany we are talking about? You don't believe we have a regulation for when and how you are able to use the unlimited speed? 😁😂 Sure we do. The general rule is that if you take your vehicle to a higher speed than the 130 km/h proposed top speed you HAVE to be able to a) control your vehicle at all times, b) come to a full stop safely for regular traffic, c) drive defensively with regard to other traffic participants. You have to adjust your top speed to comply with these three basic concepts at all times. If you don't you are fully liable for all damages this accrues.

Approx. 65% of the German autobahn has no speed limit but what we have is the recommended speed, which is 130 km/h. If y ou drive faster than 130 km/h at your own risk if an accident occurs or you even caused it If you had not driven 250 km/h if the accident had not occurred, then you are liable for it. It can also happen that the insurance company that has to pay for the damage demands the money back from the driver if things go really badly you can end up in jail. Oh yes, we Germans have to complete extensive training to get a driver's license. Driving license for car costs between €2,000 and €3,000also wants the motorcycle license too 1,500 € to 2,500 € Road fatalities in the US in 2021 = 38,458 Road deaths in Germany in 2021= 3,437 Half of the videos shown are not from the German autobahn

Back then, I also liked driving fast. It was a great thrill to shoot down the highway at 250 km/h. But it is risky and very tiring. At some point I grew up and realized that other things are much more important than a few moments of special excitement. I stick to the recommended speed limit. That's 130 km/h. Of course, I also drive faster when I'm in a hurry, even a lot faster when necessary. But I usually start so that I can drive in peace. In the meantime I try to have enough time to reach my destination at 90-100 km/h. Another advantage of driving behind a 18 wheeler is that I save a lot of fuel. My favorite speed is 100 km/h. I used to dream of driving over 300 km/h one day. But that's no fun at all. It's just tiring. You have to be highly concentrated all the time. By the way, many of the examples you showed were highly illegal. It is forbidden to overtake on the right-hand lane. Likewise, it is forbidden to stay in the left lane when you can also drive on the right. So moving into a left lane is only for overtaking. Anyone who stays on the left will receive the same penalty as anyone who overtakes on the right. You also have to be careful on the highway so that you don't endanger anyone. The first paragraph in road traffic is “Mutual consideration”. Anyone who carelessly risks the health or lives of other road users will lose their driving license. And it's very expensive and difficult to get. If you lose your driver's license, you can't simply get it again. You have to take a complicated test that is more expensive than the driver's license. With this test you have to prove to the state that you are not an idiot. In common parlance, the test is also called the “idiot test”. Medical-psychological examination is the technical term. Here in Germany you can't just shoot along the highway. 70% of highways also have a speed limit. Back then it was a lot of fun to sail along the highway at 250 km/h+. But I'm almost 50 years old. I've seen a lot of shit. I've seen people dead on the side of the road because they were driving too fast. Friends of mine have died. I have become much more sensible now. 100 km/h is enough. And over a distance of 1000 km it makes almost no difference whether I try to drive as fast as I can or stay at 130 km/h the whole time. Too many traffic jams, construction sites, stretches with speed limits... Germany is not a speeder's paradise as many people out there in the world think. Yes, you can drive 300+ here...even 400+. But we have a “reference speed”. That's 130 km/h. If you drive faster, in case of doubt you will also be at fault if something happens. So as a speeder you are somehow freer than in other countries. But you bear the full risk. By the way, a driving license in Germany costs between €2500-3500 and lasts 1-2 years. What is also new now is that anyone who still has their driving license after a year must take a new test. Your probationary period is only over after two years. Only then will you be a fully-fledged driver. But the rules are strict with many small details that you have to pay close attention to. Most cars in Germany are limited to 250 km/h. There are tuning companies that unlock the limit. That is also allowed. But to do this you usually have to have a racing license. But money helps too. Because this is not a law, but an agreement between car manufacturers in Germany and the state. (If I remember correctly).

Overtaking from the left is not allowed on the Autobahn, so slower cars tend to drive on the right. In addition, there is a right-hand drive, which means that you should not permanently drive on the left lane unless you are overtaking. if the track is free you have to go over to the right.

In germany we don't drive that crazy. The most people drive around 130-160kmh. I was at the german autobahn only one time (i am from austria), and at 250kmh i have then given no more gas because it was to much for me. I mean, my A6 could drive around 260-270kmh but even for me it is too fast. The funny thing is that there is the allside known "richtwert" (guideline value) of 130kmh. And the many people are not going over 130. A speed limit woulnd't change that much for the global climate environment. A speedlimit of 130kmh is just nonsense. 250 would be okay, because the most cars in germany can only go up to 200-230kmh.

Sadly this video explained nothing about the rules of the Autobahn and about the differences of getting (and loosing) the drivers license in Germany. There are reason why the traffic accident rate is so low. Most of the clips used in the video, show drivers who ignore the rules (they cut other drivers, are way too close and pull over on the right side... If u drive like this, u wont have ur license for long). I drive on the Autobahn for 20 years and I can tell u, its not much different than any other highway system... if u want a dangerous road, try driving in Italy, lol...

You should know, the condition of the Autobahn without speed limit is really fantastic. There are no bumpers or potholes, the surface is like a runway for planes. Also the condition of the cars is very good, the TÜV checks that every 2 years. My car, it makes 140mph, and I do it so very often, has 11 inch double blade brakes from Brembo, Koni chassis suspension. This and the attentive behavior, every millisecond the eyes open and the brain clear, makes it quite controllable. And, you will get punished with high penalty if you ignore the safety distance. The Autobahn is like a clockwork, cause everyone observed these things. I live in Cologne with a lot of unlimited segments of the Autobahn.

lets say Autobahns are just different. Looooong stretches of 2+ wide lanes, no intersections, no traffic lights. long acceleration and deceleration langes before and after onramps. Going 130 feels slow because its not a road, its more like a runway on an airport. Also, getting a driving license is hard and the discipline on the roads is very high - Germany haha .. Thirdly, the warrent of fitness for cars or TüV is stringent! Special winter tires, good conditions, everything is just built and tested to a higher standard. 220 in a modern VW or Merc is really no issue, those cars are just built for high speed, and all Benz and Audis etc were all along. When I came home from work late on a day I drove the A24 (northern Germany from Hamburg to Berlin) and set the cruise control at 200, sometimes 220 and zoomed home.

I consider obeying speed limits a duty, even an obligation! Although we think of ourselves as very good drivers, unfortunately we are not alone in traffic! Weather conditions, road and ground conditions are also very serious factors. All the factors I just mentioned are still valid in the autobahn sections where there is no speed limit! Heavy traffic and adverse weather and ground conditions mean that it is not possible for us to speed, we also warn... Of course, there are those who do not comply, but when we notice them, we give way so that we do not endanger ourselves and others, even those who do not follow the rules. I feel safer on the Autobahn than in urban and residential areas...Greetings from Cologne...👋

All this is taught a school by professionals and not by your parents who would pass on bad habits. 2) there are speed limits for huge parts 3) waving between lanes is forbidden Please, if you are really interested in this topic and not only in sensationalism ask for solid videos (there are some in englisch as well).

There are so many temporary speed limits scattered everywhere that you need a magnifier in order to find some spots without any limit. What really gets on my nerves are the lemmings who are constantly driving on the middle lane even if the right lane is completely empty, forcing everybody else to squeeze in the left lane. Traffic in Germany is such a stress caused by what I listed above and the constantly deteriorating quality of the infrastructure which is so rotten. I loved riding my bike in the US as it is so much more relaxed. Your average speed is even faster if you are driving a lower max. speed but do it constantly.

The most speed limit areas are in dangerous zones (animals, much interceptions, city near, wrong/old street material). The reason for the constructions are the special materials that the autobahn need for high speed. It must be changed after 8 years. Other places the autobahn get more lanes. Thats the reason why you see often constructions. We try to solve in critical areas the slow speed trouble with to many slow trucks.

Sorry guys the video you´re reacting tzo has little or nothing to do with the german autobahn. There are scenes froms movies (e.g. the slalom tour) or roads of other countries etc. Yes it is a fact that the german autobahn is one of the safest roads in the world. This fact is mentioned in the movies but can´t be explained with the wrong examples in the video.. Fact 2: Not every stretch of the autobahn is without speedlimit. Fact 3: The vast majority of german drivers doesn´t go faster than 130 km/h. Fact 4: German drivers are much more disciplinined as drivers from other countries (e.G. US) - Gas is very expensive, more awareness of the ecologic impact of high fuel consumtion. Fact 5: Drivers keep driving right as long as they don´t overtake (the slower the farer right). I could go on with the list. Yes there are some lunatics driving faster than 240km/h but that are only a few and mostly when the autobahnis empty. For me it was always stressful to drive faster than 180km/h. In general I can say driving on the the autobahn is rather boring for germans, and indeed it´s safe.

The right lane on the Autobahn is the slow lane. The left lane should only be used for overtaking. If there is a gap to stay on the right lane for more than about 30 seconds, you should switch to the slower lane. A lot of parts in the video have not been recorded in Germany. This shows, that the missing speedlimit is not the reason for accidents, it's often the driver making errors. By the way. Even in unrestricted areasyou're supposed to drive 130 Km/H (Richtgeschwindigkeit): You will not be fined for driving faster, but if you're involved in an accident get guilty for 10% or 20%... of the accident although it was not your fault. If you have been driving inappropriate fast, the insurance can refuse to pay the damage, which can make it seriously expensive. I suggest, we will have speedlimit in a few years. A lot of drive assists like adaptive speed control are limited to 140 Km/H or 150 Km/H. The ratio of EVs is raising and most EVs are limited to 160/170 Km/H. EVs have less range when driving very fast, fossils have a lot more emissions while driving fast. And safety is a point. The differences between slow semis (80-85 Km/H) and cars are the problem. If a semi changes the lane to overtake and a fast car comes from behind with triple speed, this can be dangerous. All drivers have to be very cautious, but we know this never works well. Those, who want to keep the unlimited areas, want more adaptive speedlimits. The systems counts the cars and recognizes the avarage speed and changes the speedimit depending on the traffic. There a signs, that can be programmed to show differen speedlimits. This make it a lot safer.

‼️Yeah... you CAN drive as fast as it is not limitied by signs. But if you drive faster than 130km/h, then you are always partly guilty if you are involved in a crash. Even if another driver causes the crash (e.g. by changing lane). In additional, your insurance company can show you 'the' finger and pay nothing or just a part. And if the weather is bad or the road conditions not perfect (wet, snow, dirt, bumpers, etc.) or if it is too much traffic or if it is dark... then you have to fit, to match or to adjust your max. speed to the conditions. Of course you can drive 70 in heavy rain while the signs show 70 and say F**k O**. But in fact of an accident, you are possible partly guilty. Overall there is a common law that says: "You may drive only as fast as you can brake safely until complete stop within the distance you can see and check the traffic."

It is not safer, but the germans got much more experience, the streets are a bit better in shape then others in the world like in Sweden for example Come over here and try it out. But if the right lane is free, use it. And when overtaking, look for others overtaking with much more speed. Be careful and start smooth. And use the right lane! It´s really important.

Pass anyone on the autobahn is always on the left. Beeing anywhere then on the very right lane is only allowed for overtake. That is the big difference to other countries. Why, because idling on the very left lane is common in countroes where is a speed limit, in germany is (should be) not. Think about why there are less crashes on the autobahn then on a highway, because in the the german mind - if you want to drive without stress you are on any right lane so if you are on the the left you are fast and concentraded. 😊

Some time ago some drivers of sports cars staged a race across Germany. Maybe parts of your videos has been taken by that occasion. They were caught by the police for misusing the Autobahn, heavily fined and cars confiscated. Nowadays illegal racing is considered as attempted murder and the drivers jailed for long terms. In case you are going faster than 130 and involved in an accident, you automatically share the responsibility, for speed is considered as main cause of accidents.

there are rules ! important rules ! Pay attentions to that ! Then it´s not a thing to drive 200 km/h, and for sure more. By the way, Germany has less accidents per year than the other european countries, because you have to watch out wide more, when you drive always only 130/h because more isn´t allowed People get bored with always the same speed ! I´m German and use the Autobahn very often, first of all, when I want to drive to a neighbour-country like Holland, Belgium or France.

Safety is no argument to get a speed limit. When you compare the deaths from parts with speed limit and without one the difference is only a few %. When you say the few % extra are only because of the missing speed limit you would safe 5-10 lifes a year. And the co2 emussions that can be saved are also pretty low. Its under 0.1% of germanys emission. Because as he said the average speed ist just 140kph so not much above the recommendet 130

"When you compare the deaths from parts with speed limit and without one the difference is only a few %". ROFL! 25 per cent more on the unrestricted sections according to the DVR, and more than 75 per cent greater according to another 2019 study. That's an average of fifty per cent, and if that isn't a cause for concern then I don't know what is. It is true that accidents are more frequent on the restricted sections, but that is not surprising because the speed limits were introduced as calming measures on particularly dangerous stretches; but the number of KSI's (people Killed and Seriously Injured) is significantly higher where there is no speed limit, my friend. I'm afraid you are misinformed. P.S. Safety is by far the most important argument for having speed limits. The only reason the Autobahn now has an acceptable safety record (it was abysmal for decades, and is still not the safest in the world despite what Andreas Scheuer says) is exactly and precisely because the places where the largest numbers of serious and fatal accidents occurred now have speed restrictions! Pace, but you are ignoring what is staring you in the face.

Most of the fast drivers are driving against the rules in this video. For example, you are not allowed to overtake on the right.

01:13 some numbers of view of driver to not move head and eyes 70km/h = 140 degree ; 100 = 110 Deg; 140 km/h = 78 deg; 180 km/h = 52 deg ; 220 km/h = 36 deg ; 250 km/h = 22 deg ;and over 280 km/h only 16 deg wide = if you move eyes/ or head out Your driving line 2 seconds ( there and back ) then in 250km/h You drive a blind of Your driving line 2 second = 139 meters / 456 feet .

Converted per kilometer or mile, there are significantly fewer accidents and deaths on German highways than on American highways. This is because cars are maintained much better in Germany and German drivers receive much better training in order to obtain their driving license. In contrast to American highways, driving on German highways is significantly safer!

WTH???? Most of the clips are NOT from Germany. Every time you see a yellow line as center divider, it's the USA, not Germany. The clip used several times with the Labos, not Germany either. 5:24 that clip is from Russia. SMH. 5:50 look at the license plate, not Germany either - Yellow center line, maybe USA? Yellow is only used in temporary lines for construction zones.

As a german it truly sadens me to see that 99% of the video's you watched are not from the german autobahn... Sinple rules that make driving at 200km/h and above way safer then any other country in the world 1. Look as far ahead as possible and anticipate on other peoples mistakes 2. Always be prepared for someone ahead to make a unexpected and unsignaled more to the left lane 3. Never, ever overtake on the right lane 4. stick the most right lane available, only move of to the left lane if you are overtaking 5. check your mirrors, rear view and outside mirrors that is. 6. adjust you speed to weather conditions 7. keep your safety distance at all times! which is simple, easy rule is: half your speed in meters to the car ahead of you at all times. also in germany we don't get our drivers license cheap and it's probably the most diffuclt and hardest place to earn it, yes you earn it by completing tasks and by law we have some musts you student driver will have to succeed. a driving license in germany will cost you be on average between 1500 and 2500 euro's
