Why giving birth is so painful?
Why human birth is so painful compared to other animals?
After human had started walking on two legs, the cervix in females had to stay narrow, so the baby would not fall off the uterine. Because the cervix remained small and the brain and head had grown, delivering a baby is harder and more painful for humans than it is for other mammals.
Human offspring leave the womb "half-cooked", because if a baby would remain a longer period, like in other mammals, until full maturation of all body systems, the fetus would have to be born with a large head, that there is no way to give birth to.
That is why human babies are born not quite as ready for birth as the rest of the animals. If we look at zebras in the wild, they give birth to their baby, lick it and the new born baby stands on its feet, within a few hours it can walk. For A human baby on the other hand, it takes two years to fill this gap, the body and mind of human babies will mature after birth. For this reason human babies require more time and attention than babies of other animals.
