I asked Glock at the 2019 Shotshow and the rep. responded "So we call sell it in all states." The 10 round mag is semi-staggered and I originally thought they did this for room on a future .40 cal S&W. My shield arms magazines have been flawless is the few thousand rounds going through mine and my wifes 43X's. This was not engineering but a political solution.

...........What a lazy explanation on the part of Glock there. Glock offers 10 round limited magazines for their other pistols, of course they could do the same for the 43x. The issue being missed here is that a 10 round 43, meaning a 10 round version of the 6 rounder gun, is the real prize here. If I can conceal a Glock 19 length grip I'll just carry a Glock 19. That sub compact length grip combined with the narrow 1" form factor is what draws me the the micro 9 type.

Considering that most of Glock's money is probably through military and law enforcement contracts (making the civilian market of secondary concern) it is really not a big leap to see why they haven't quickly jumped on the micro 9 bandwagon. Correct. This is why S&W jumped off the .357sig wagon with the M&Ps. 2015, 2016 era. Big Blue said why should we let consumers, gun owners say; hey, I can buy 3 M&P series barrels, conversion designs then buy 1 .40 pistol. 🛒 I have 2 stainless KKM barrels: 9x19mm .357sig for my M&P 4.25". I ended up having to purchase 10% extra power springs for all of my pdp 18rd mags. The springs in the oem mags are severely underpowered and after about 15 - 20 full cycles through one of their magazines it immediately starts introducing failure to feeds where the next round being stripped off the magazine ends up getting pinched on the very bottom of the feed ramp and the breech face. I've probably ran over 4k rounds in my pdp and the only issues I've had have been magazine related. So far I have maybe 800 rounds on the new 3rd party springs with zero issues.

@Paelorian
@Paelorian Жыл бұрын
Glock isn't an aftermarket manufacturer like Shield Arms. They don't have to fit an existing magwell. They introduce new models with small changes every year. Why not produce a thinner Glock 19 with metal-walled magazines? Keep the double stack, just eliminate the polymer mag exterior and make the magwell and frame smaller to accommodate the slimmer mag. It would be 100% as reliable as the G19 and other double-stack Glocks. Maybe sacrificing a little magazine durability for a thinner magazine and gun. Worth it. Magazines don't need a polymer exterior to be reliable.
@Burkholder1994

I wonder if they could do like the Shield Plus does and have a double stack with a single feed. Lose a round or 2 on the double stack capacity but still does a single feed straight up.

My stock Glock 30 has never had a failure due to trigger and pin issues. So I guess it has nothing to do with the fact that if they fielded all metal mags it would wear out the plastic magazine release and you soon wouldn't be able to get the mags to "catch" / "release" now does it. I didn't think so either.

I'm confused, does smooth metal wear away smooth plastic? Someone should tell that to car parts manufacturers and garden tool manufacturers as I've seen many metal on plastic moving parts in my life.
@maverick9708
@maverick9708 Жыл бұрын
@@snowflakecuntreeman3947 depends on how it's designed, if you have a plastic square and you rub the corner against a metal hole for long enough, you will wear it down until its round. If you have 2 smooth and flat surfaces rubbing then it doesn't matter nearly as much. The mag release interface is the problem he is alluding to and I have experience with enough worn mag releases to know that it's very possible

For a concealed carry gun I'm fine with the 10+1 factory mags in my 43x. I don't like the Shield mags because you have to change the mag release too and then you're not supposed to use the factory mags unless you change the the mag release back.

Not to mention Glock magazine testing probably involves aging the magazines with spring compression cycles, extreme hot/cold cycles, and exposure to some humidity (corrosion) before they test to some outrageous round count (10,000) without failure. Maybe others just test at room temperature with brand new mag. That is one of the many differences between OEM and aftermarket parts, the test parameters and pass criteria.

I personally don’t like single stack or micro 9mm pistols because the grip is too skinny. The Glock 26 is my favorite summertime edc, I shoot it better and I’m more confident in it than my P365. If I wanted a single stack, I’d get something in 45 acp. I’m just not a big fan of little guns.

The primary reason Glock does not make their magazines entirely from metal is that it would require them to make the magazine release from metal in order for there to be a 100% reliability. In order to make these metal mags they would need cbc machines and sheet metal stamping dies. Which they are simply not inclined to do as they acquire great profit margins. We all know the value of a standard glock mag is about 8 bucks yet glock charges about 24 per. Same goes with their pistols a glock 19 should only cost about 400 if it came with 3 mags yet they charge 600 and you get one. It's like apple products, you're being ripped off.

But everyone else is doing double stacks micro 9s without any feeding issues. I get your point, but is it really accurate? Who knows. What we know for sure is that buying a Glock today is accepting to buy an inferior gun compared to its peers, and being willing to spend twice the cost of the gun to make it kinda-ok and almost as good as stock competitors. So, that’s a pass.

Glock sticks with fatty polymer mags for 2 reasons: -People would complain endlessly if a G17/19 replacement didn't take legacy magazines. -Glock makes the polymer magazines, isn't set up for large scale metal magazine manufacture, and doesn't want to give up any profits, or deal with the potential supply chain issues of contracting magazines from Mec-Gar and/or Checkmate.

I like polymer sliding on polymer, rather than steel rubbing on polymer.
