Honestly the best part of that was the sad realization that I'll never know what dinosaurs interacting with each other was like, but the prehistoric looks of guineas is probably a fair shake. I wish I could imagine what these daily interactions with like Synapsids and other kinds of multi-tens or hundreds of millions of years ago life was like, just in-the-day-of type moments like this, or where capybaras are sitting around chilling with monkeys and birds riding on them. It wasn't just flesh eating and tree munching so those interspecies interactions being completely unknown and lost to time is saddening.

Yeah but really it's only the roosters that'll spur ya. Goose? Also plenty fine. Just don't get kicked in the back of the head by a mule, that actually is dangerous. They also eat plenty of ticks, which are likewise dangerous depending where you live because they carry disease.

Honestly guineas aren't that bad of birds to have around. Yes if you get adults that are wild. They are loud and annoying. But if you raise them like I do. They can be pretty tame and calm. They make great guards. And keeps snake's away. And eats up tick's. You just gotta show them lots of love and affection lol
@feistywoman1234 жыл бұрын
@@LuLu-yc8qe Oh thank goodness! Reading ur comment made me feel much better. We just bought our first 6 chicks. They had guineas as an option too so we got 2 of them... Had no idea that they weren't chickens as well! Lol! I thought they were just a type of chicken and they didn't specify at the place that we bought them(thanks guys!) So I've been reading up on Guinea fowls and after watching this video, i was like OH NO! But u give me hope that they won't be this bad. It seems that they have a lot of benefits. We'll be sure to give em some extra love lol 💕 Is there much a difference between their eggs and chicken eggs?
@LuLu-yc8qe4 жыл бұрын
@@feistywoman123 guinea eggs are pretty small. But are delicious. Lol the first time I got guineas I was not happy about them. But then I raised my own. And they were better hand raised. I absolutely love the sound of guinea fowl and franklin.The sounds of a glorious African sunset. Alllbeit in the distance rather than directly in your ear. Easily as impressive as the deep baritone timbred roar of a lonely male lion at night. The gunea's percussive melody is a vital player in the African orchestra, meaning both peace and rest as in roosting and alarm as in warning.

The ones going "buck-wheat" are the females, and the ones that do a raspy AHH AHHH AHH AHH are males, though females can do that too, the males don't buckwheat. They're feisty and strong, both physically and mentally, hardy to disease and injury. *If you don't like story time, no need to continue reading.* Had our only female lavender trampled into the mud by the geese after getting into a fight with one or more of the male guineas, on a cold day and found her at night in the dark barely hanging on by a thread, she looked dead to be honest. We were sure she would be dead the next morning but we gave her a gentle warm bath indoors and set her in a box with some comfy soft small wood shavings with a small bowl of food and water under a heat light. She couldn't even stand up for two whole weeks, but that girl was strong and determined and she got through it all the way to being back to normal after about 4 weeks, all aside from having part of one of her waddles and the top of her head horn partially removed from her fight, she's never fought with them since and is now partnered with one of them who follows her around like a loyal puppy dog. *Here is the part when I just start rambling, so you don't need to continue reading if you're bored of me. :P* They also have children currently growing through their baby stage currently about 4 to 5 inches tall, human raised of course because guineas make terrible mothers. Even our turkeys who are normally good mothers didn't do very well with the hardy Guinea babies. 3 out of 4 died, one squished accidentally, one attacked by another bird, one mysteriously perhaps illness or didn't learn to eat or drink. The fourth is happy and healthy and follows mama Turkey around all over, when she flies, it flies with her, it even sits on her back for a ride, its favorite spot. The human raised, if they last at least 2 days after hatching, have all survived. Sometimes they get too weakened from hatching or dont hatch at all because our new incubator is trash and the fan that is meant to circulate the heat actually dries the membranes inside the egg, making it impossible to break, especially for a baby. Yes, you're supposed to put water in so it stays humid but it doesn't work even at full humidity.. would not recommend.

imagine being a claustrophobic baby bird trapped inside an egg because of a bad incubator, thats hell.
@LuLu-yc8qe4 жыл бұрын
My incubator works pretty good for the most part. It's just it doesn't get the eggs soft enough for them to hatch for some reason the humidity stays in the 70s... Which is enough for them to grow but when they come ready to hatch it's not enough to get their eggs soft enough..I had to kinda "help" my ducks hatch. And now just hatched out seven guinea keets. And 6 more hatching in five days.
