HANOI, VIETNAM has so many things to do and see. In fact, the city is a full on assault of history, culture and food - not to mention motorbikes! This was my first time in Vietnam, so I decided to capture all of my first impressions of the country.
EVERYTHING FEATURED IN THIS VIDEO:
0:00 - The hustle and bustle of Hanoi Old Quarter
Walking around the streets, focussing on the multi-purpose sidewalks: used for cooking, eating and socialising. Local life is on full display here.
1:19 - How Busy is Hanoi?
An overlook on the amount of vehicles in the city and what it's like to cross the street (not as easy as it sounds). We also checked out the famous Hanoi Train Street.
2:24 - Why Hanoi is like Paris
A dive into Hanoi's French history and adopted elements of the culture. Viewing the art deco architecture and tasting the Bahn Mi sandwiches.
3:18 - Bahn Mi in Hanoi
Tasting one of the best street food snacks in Vietnam.
3:59 - Vietnamese Dong/Currency
Becoming a millionaire in Vietnam is easier than you think.
4:13 - Vietnamese Egg Coffee
Tasting a specialist drink in Hanoi.
4:36 - Peaceful spots in Hanoi
Hanoi has many rooftop bars to watch the sunset from. But there are also some great cafes in hidden quiet spots. Some of our favourites were the Hanoi Social Club, Xofa and Tranquil.
5:25 - Nature in Hanoi
A brief tour of Hoan Kiem Lake and the Jade Mountain Temple. A great spot to see some of Hanoi's Chinese influence.

Loving this Vietnamese series Ryan. Learning a ton about a country I’ve always wanted to visit. Your narration is spot on, and love how you mix so many scenes in with what you’re talking about. Makes me feel like I’m right there. And honestly would’ve never guessed Hanoi would have such a French influence but totally makes sense after you pointed it out. Final thought, sign me up for one of those sandwiches and egg coffee right now please. Looks amazing. Thanks again for sharing. Just subbed , dan

Hanoi doesn't look like Paris so much as it could look like a mishmash of other smaller French cities like Toulouse or Strasbourg. *If anywhere "looks like Paris", it would be more like Algiers (Alger).* Because while Vietnam has opera houses and grand hotels, it *lacks the Haussmann-style "boutique street corner" apartments or the Mansard roofs that are indicative of Paris.*

Hoan Kiem Lake means the Returned Sword Lake. The Legend goes: The Turtle Deity emergered from the lake asking the King to return the Sword that the Turtle God lent him to repel the Northern invaders, war over, peace now. Don't you notice, the police doen't carry gun. So, A Time To Love & A Time To Die. The KIng didn't die. LOL to the KIng. You survived from the rd crossing, You're deserved love, LOL

What ?!?! Paris and Hanoi looks similar ?!,?!?,
@kayflip2233

Hanoi looks more similar to Marseille, France with the narrow buildings found in some Marseille side streets. Definite French influence in the architecture.

OMG...OH MY GOODNESS... what a mess. 1. I Definitely see the French influence in the architecture. 2. Sorry, this doesn't remind me of the Paris I visited. Too many dirty buildings. What's the use of having a sidewalk if you cannot walk on it.

I think the way you talk about the place and the people was very disrespectful. The way you talk about the pavement and that they are a product of their environment you're not speaking about them with any respect.

Ohhhh come on, how can you compare Hanoi to Paris? It's absolutely STUPID and nonsense.... 1st: Vietnam is not looking on France anymore but US; 2ndly: Vietnam is dirty, Paris is very clean. 3rd: Paris culture is not into coffee and sandwiches but wine, camembert and croissants. ... You haven't got any French culture... Go back to France and explore Paris, one of the most wonderful city in the world with more tourists than Vietnam+Thailand+Cambodia+Laos.

1st: Vietnam has a lot of French Colonial HISTORY, still seen in the architecture 2ndly: You clearly haven't been to Paris, it's not all "clean" 3rd: Ask any French person what they drink with their croissants you moron haha

have u even been to Paris? Trash everywhere, pee smell every corners. French do fancy their baguette and café au lait and also have strong influence in Vietnam from the past. Knowledge yourself!

Everyone who has been to Hanoi will immediately comment on the French influences. It stands out and is very obvious. He's not trying to say Hanoi is exactly like Paris, how you can be so retarded to think that? Do you even see any non tourist French people walking around in Hanoi? 😂

Love Hanoi, but really, it’s not like Paris. That’s just a travel vloggers conceit. Proof: Who ever says “Wow, Paris! It looks just like Hanoi.”
@OneShotAdventures
@OneShotAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
What a stupid example 😂 That's only proof of Hanoi being a less visited/world famous destination than Paris. Travel Vloggers didn't create the blueprint for modern Hanoi: the French did.
@kayflip2233

That's because the Vietnamese didn't build Paris. Same thing with the Commonwealth countries, there are obviously tons of British influences but no one goes to Toronto or Sydney and says, wow, this reminds me of London. But you can go to London and see the origins of many things from their colonies from architecture to food to language.
