What updates do YOU want eBay to actually make?

I had an Ebay shop for over 20 years...shipped all over the world. Two full sacks a day over to the post office. They started to make it harder and harder all the time. You HAVE to remember that they run on the AMERICAN corporate business model, which is basically the same way the Mafia runs "business". They have an "end game", and will squeeze sellers until the whole thing collapses. That's just how the American business model works. So...I bailed about 4 years ago. Just had enough. Retired now anyway, so...its all good.

eBay is a joke now. I plan on closing my store after 15 years.

I liked the good old days when it was 10% plus listing fee., I guess they only made $7.2 billion last year so you have to feel sorry for them.

It is a joke. But the regulatory fee increase has been across all major platforms, the same with Etsy. It's mainly to cover the cost of reporting to the revenue services what everyone is earning. Instead of them absorbing it, we have to pay for it

we already pay a business fee of £92.40 a month, ebay is a joke these days

Does anyone know in the UK if Vinted has plans for expansion into other countries like Australia? Here in OZ we are restricted to just eBay, Depop & Esty. Poshmark closed a few months back & we are screaming out for competition & choice.

I know many top rated sellers that have quit eBay, fee pricing, and dealing with buyers piss adding about saying they havent received and costing a lot of money. It’s a joke on there now, I quit selling as it’s got so bad, eBay is a mine field

On a 75k turnover it's £315, not a huge amount in the grand scheme of things and is tax deductible. I laugh when people say they quit ebay because of the fees, try selling something for £100 you paid a couple quid for at a car boot on one of the other platforms and see what price you get 😂 Won't be getting those prices on whatnot for sure

eBay is terrible now. I've stopped selling on it. I sell on marketplace. Done pretty good so far.

Somebody dreamed up a new stealth fee. Probably won't be the last as they have managed to sneak this one in at a time where we are in recession and a lot of sellers are really struggling. Not far off being the straw that broke the camel's back for some I imagine. Ebay are very bad at reading the room but yet again they have shown they see us business sellers as mere minions. Meanwhile private sellers are getting free listings and no fees until mid April ...

The fees are slowly creeping up, and it's getting to the point where you are better selling for less on other sites. Can't fault them they are a buisness at the end of the day. However, whoever is making these decisions needs to realise sellers are their only source of income.

Ebay have lost the plot. So many more platforms have opened and are gaining buyers and sellers quickly. Times are hard for alot of people. Wages have not gone up to meet the rising costs of everyday living. So people are spending less on luxuries which is less revenue for us sellers of which they put the fees up on. WTH is going on with Ebay, Fault after fault and they just add an update with more fees. That is not helping anyone only themselves

One day eBay will fold 😂

The increase in selling prices is to equal the lowering of customer service.

Let’s say about the rising costs of everything and then rise the cost of eBay makes sense

Listed an item today that costs £3.80 to send but they would only let me charge £3.50 postage

Closed my eBay shop it’s jumped from 20 to 27 that the only thing I noticed

Ebay will defo kill their goose with their greedy business model. They even shaft us for fees on locally imposed taxes which Ebay add to the sale total, then deduct from the sale total.

I never understood why on eBay if someone accepts and offer your not made to just pay for it there and then and why sellers have to wait up to 48hrs for payment its a joke… ive been a retro toy seller on there since lockdown and its just become more convoluted ever since

Ebay fees and paying tax. Whats the point? Ebay have stopped my traffic flow and destroyed my business and when contacted them the customer service advised they have 1000's of the same complaints every day. Dont get me started on postage fees on Ebay!

So much negativity here 😞 What would YOU like to see on eBay? While I agree there arent many updates this quarter, at least they try to keep us updated, and give us resources. eBay is my number one platform and is still cheaper than other popular platforms. They also decrease fees for sellers in good standing with higher ratings. I'm definitely team eBay still. ~Samantha

There are less customers on the Ebay platform, but Ebay has decided to charge us more for that smaller pool of customers?

Nobody likes extra fees on top of what we already pay, but let's face it,it's not a massive hike. Remembering, of course, that eBay has a much larger potential audience than other platforms and it has it's own running costs, it's a small price to pay. And folk have to remember that whenever Vinted offers a Pro version, it's highly unlikely it's going to do so without introducing sellers fees. Right now, we can either pay more to sell on eBay and potentially achieve the best sales prices, or we can pay less to sell quicker (and cheaper) on other platforms. There's no perfect system that's better than the other. As I said, nobody likes to keep paying more, but that the way life is

And what about the the "Below standard fee" being introduced from 1 April 2024 - 6% on top of the final value fee if for some reason a seller is rated Below standard.

Yea George they are getting very greedy I gave up on eBay couple years now sell on Depop much better, and waiting for whatnot to go live in Ireland you can buy but not sell at the moment even though they are based in co cork, great info George 👍

no point in being a business on ebay, just open a new account and you will get 70%-80% off fees every 2 weeks.

For the fees are you able to claim them back on your tax return? My first tax return will be January next year but the fees are very annoying i do agree ebay making it so much harder… vinted so much better

I really am limiting my use of eBay to sell, i will list elsewhere for a week and if it doesn’t I’ll then use eBay… working well so far as only have a 50 items now on eBay as a posed to the 400 I had last month EBay is just a fall back for surplus lol 😂

Wish they would put something in place to stop scam buyers, just got stung for the third time in 2024, it was only a £6 comic but it still bugs me. Was suspicious of the buyer looking at past feedback he had left for other sellers so I made sure it had tracking at our own cost. A week later, he opens a case, not received despite tracking showing it had been delivered. So we refuse a refund, he then asks eBay to step in and blow me down, they find in his favour and refund him. I should be covered by seller protection since it was tracked but it appears not. I pay over £500 per month for the shop inc. vat and typically around £1400 each month in fees but customer support appears lacking for the sellers. I'd go elsewhere but not many alternatives in the collectors market, at least not in the turnover department. 🤬

i'd like to see us charge our customers because eBay is charging us more, noooo we'd have to suck it up so that fee should be sucked up by eBay and not passed onto their customers

Basically eBay are the be all and end all of auction type online selling… its about time another company i.e amazon or google make some opposition!

I hear what you're saying but i feel if you list the right stuff consistently each day 20 or more good sell through rate good metrics 90 day sell through rate turnover you can't beat eBay, But 99.1%of resellers don't put the correct action in and Blame ebay I have falling into this rut on many occasions Hopefully not in the future

I finished with ebay November last year because I was making better margins selling on Facebook and vinted and I could sell 10% cheaper. I'm sure ebay keep putting prices up because less sellers use it.

have you thought of setting up another account but register it as a personal account and sell from that? Ebay Have always preferred sellers to have business accounts but there has been absolutely no perk from the sellers point of view for doing that. Just a load of extra fees! I sell from my personal account and so far, so good. I say take the best and leave the rest!

I sell on Amazon it's exactly the same, we work harder for less, and we are basically wage slaves, the latest is they froze many sellers' money whilst they checked their VAT status whilst getting all that interest then you have to wait longer to get paid new rules new ways to squeeze us

Plus PayPal fees then you have to pay tax on top of tax. Joke.

Private sellers have 2 months free listing no fees ebay are only doing this because they are in trouble next year the fees will be more to claw back all the money they are losing
