Why Hollywood Won't Cast Seann William Scott Anymore

Seann William Scott is perhaps best known for playing Steve Stifler in the American Pie movie franchise. Scott played the obnoxious, wise-cracking jock character in four American Pie films, and has also had comedic roles in movies like Mr. Woodcock, Dude, Where’s My Car?, Role Models, and The Dukes of Hazzard.
Throughout the early 2000s, Scott became a staple in teen comedy and raunchy comedy movies. Scott also tried his hand at action movies, appearing alongside Chow Yun-fat in Bulletproof Monk and Dwayne Johnson in The Rundown.
But the 2010s haven’t been kind to Scott and his career has certainly seen better days. So, why doesn’t Hollywood cast Seann William Scott anymore?

Underrated actor. He showed real empathy and vulnerability in Goon and the Goon sequel. His Steve Stifler character is so iconic, I think it surpasses John Belushi's Animal House character in terms of sheer comedic invention. He deserved to be in more straight- man action, drama, and comedy roles.

Yeah, I know, I bet the wives and daughters of everyone he meets, everywhere he goes start dropping panties and the more aggressive ones try ripping his clothes off at any chance they get and if he likes women, that's one hell of a smorgasbord!!! He probably gets invitations for naughtynaughtyfunfun a million times a day!!! If you want to get laid, watch one of his movies with your girlfriend.... except for "Dude where's my car!" That movie is not a panty dropper.

He was raised in my local area. I'd never met him personally. I have several friends that grew up with him and was told that he is a very nice guy and had that same sarcastic mentality. The American Pie series is embedded in his acting name and will take quite awhile for that to fade. I do believe he can be a much more diverse actor aside from his reputation and deserves acting roles outside of his typical persona.

+Kevin Webster when an actor gets typecasted, they don't have much of a choice. if your director says act more like stifler then you act more like stifler. southland tales was the only "serious" type role i can recal him in and he did a fine job without having to act like a moron a single time. i think out of all the factors he mentioned as to why he might not be in more movies, i think typecasting was the one that hurt the most. also he might just not be getting scripts he likes or has just decided to relax. he seems like a pretty humble guy, as far as celebrities go, i just checked his IMDB, with the exception of 2004 and 2015, he has been in at least one movie every year since 1996. i wouldn't exactly say he's not getting work.

I'm starting to believe these looper "Why aren't they big-time anymore?" videos are just hit-pieces based on someone's personal vendetta and/or jealousies. They're all subjectively based on Looper's selective-amnesia of the facts that don't support their conclusion. Also, Looper selects him as the subject of their attack video over Jason Biggs, Tara Ried, Chris Klien, Mena Suvara, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Shannon Elizabeth and the whiny kid that played "shit-break" when a quick glance at each of their respective IMDB pages would show that they are far more worthy of being targeted by this video series, which leads me to the previously stated assertion that this nonsense is rooted in some Looper employee's jealousy.

Dude, Where's My Car? is a classic movie. Either Ashton Kutcher and SWS should team up for a sequel, or "Dude, Where's My Uber?". They can even do a 20th anniversary reunion of it virtually.

In my opinion when he was in the American Pie films was when they were good and I felt he did very well with his acting. I did like some of the movies but found him at his best in Dude Where's My Car.... Which I still watch today. I just felt it was a great movie. I think that these types of movies were normally cast and popular before he started doing them and if they had come out earlier than they did, that maybe they would have been more popular. It seems to me that when movie themes die out from being overdone they try to give it life once more hoping that people still enjoy them and at the time they still kinda did but were not the types of movies people watch much anymore because interests moved on after time. Other than that he is in my opinion a great comedy actor and I would rather enjoy seeing more from him.

Why is rotten tomatoes the authority on movie ratings?..Who gives a shit what they rate.
@AndyFelbab
@AndyFelbab 8 жыл бұрын
Rotten Tomatoes scores are calculated by the reviews of movie critics. Its not just a couple random guys that vote on movies from their website. But I also dont care about RTs scores. I get that it's good for actors and filmmakers to have high scores on Rotten Tomatoe's site. But a good or bad rating on RT doesnt effect me going to see a flick.

He's very private when it comes to his personal life and Paparazzi doesn't like that. If you're not the very well known actor you need to show up or else they won't write anything about you. Seann doesn't follow their rules. So his name faded from the media. But from someone I know who had work with him said he's pretty nice and down to earth guy. Such an underrated. I like him so much.

Damned it, I love Sean William Scott! I think he would make a great addition to maybe Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell or even Seth Rogen comedies. He's just that kind of guy who you love to watch on screen no matter if the movie is good or not. I thought he was on a good road when he made Role models, he would make great in movies like that. It's weird how me and a couple of friends just the other day discussed how much we miss this guy and that he should and must be in more movies and now I'm coming over this clip on youtube. At least there will be a sequel to Goon soon! I just find the argument that he is still carrying the Stiffler role ridiculous. Seriously?

The dude is happy with what he is doing in life. I met him in Halifax at a coffee shop, he made time for everyone that was there. Place cleared out and I chatted with him for a couple of minutes. I told him I really enjoyed Goon (he was in town filming Last of the Enforcers). I remember him saying "I am just doing what I love to do" and he smiled. He shook my hand, patted me the shoulder and said "I have to get back to work" lol. Just because Hollywood doesn't see you or cast you anymore, doesn't mean your life has gone to shit. You can find roles. He looked genuinely happy. He gave me a firm handshake to, not one of those weak fake ones. Easily on the nicest stars I have met. I work in the industry and I wish everyone was like him. I met Liev Schrieber at TIFF last year, he was nice, subdued though. Next day he broke up with Naomi Watts :( Probably not the best way to meet someone. He is huge, he makes SWS look like a midget.

@DH-kl5rx

+daniel perez: You are correct. Since when should Rotten Tomatoes be held as a standard for evaluating the abilities of any actor or whether a movie is recommended or not recommended. I am more likely to read reviews written by members of the general public than those written by paid critics. Rotten Tomatoes isn't a reliable source for evaluations when written by "paid professional" critics nor should it be held as a measure for gauging the competency of any actor or recommending which movies should be seen or not seen. Rotten Tomatoes is just another of the many sites influenced by movie industry politics. .
