All companies, all of them do not want a secondary market. The “value” you believe your figures has is self imposed. Funko reissues quietly, Hasbro, Star Wars, name it. Vintage signs, video games, all reissue. Not saying is right or wrong. Toys are not meant to be investments. The next generation of collectors have the right to get those pieces that they missed No?

I think you have to look at as Hot toys isn't competing with itself, it's competing with J&D and InArt who are coming to the market with Dark Knight figures, and even doing this armory. It's for new collectors, who didn't get the 1.0, and for those who want to upgrade. Plus It helps them be defensive about keeping the license too. WB doesn't seem to care about exclusivity with licensing, so everyone is coming to play right now. And it's great for the customer, we are getting options. Including back pedaling and getting used cheaper 1.0 versions.

Is everyone forgetting Hot Toys has their Asia market, it’s not always about us. JND Studio has a 1/6 Batman Amory and this is going directly after that as a cheaper alternative. Just my opinion.

I saw the video title and it took a minute to realize that this wasn’t about the one they had just announced Lol. I agree that this new one looks way better, in my opinion. The tailoring looks incredible, but I don’t like the Bruce Wayne expression at all. I believe the only thing Hot Toys is concerned with is how much money they can get out of us. Once they get the money, it’s on to the next thing. I don’t mind 2.0 because people that are new to the hobby can get figures that are too rare or too expensive now. It doesn’t devalue my 1.0 unless I let it. Only I control whether I forget the joy I felt for the 1.0 is gone because they announced a 2.0 that we probably won’t see for 2 years lol. My biggest beef is why they keep releasing new versions of this Bale Batman and shit on Batman Begins! Great video, bro!

Hot Toys doesn't care about aftermarket value at all. The reason for making limited runs is to get people to pre-order so they have money to invest in production. They don't give a crap what it's worth after release. I do agree though they should have waited because this will def cannibalize their sales on the DKR version. Only hardcore dark knight fans would want both. I only collect Batman and even I only want the Dark Knight version.

If you only collect with the intent of reselling then I can see why this might tick you off. If you're a collector who missed the first go-round, now you have another option. (I'll site the 89 Batman 2.0 as an example which I preordered) If you don't like it, don't buy it. Batman sells, that's their business plan.

I’m debating on what to do, I have TDK Rises one on order still and I want this new one. Do I just keep the order and get both or cancel TDK Rises? They’re from different movies, so I could definitely make it work with both, but I’d save myself $600 dollars by cancelling 🤔

I'm just waiting for Inart at this point. I wonder if HT has some info on what the Inart TDK Batman is going to be and are trying to undercut them with an earlier release.

This is another time where I wait for the InArt. As slow as they are, at least they will look at the source material and get most of the accuracies done correctly. Unlike this “2.0” here that is again, inaccurate, wrong, and poorly managed. This should be a learning lesson to not PO hot toys because they will eventually sneak a way to pump another money grab out. Great vid calling it out

I pre-ordered this instantly for two reasons: 1) I canceled my TDKR Armory set Hot Toys announced months to a year ago due to savings and ended up waitlisted as it's sold out almost everywhere. 2) The JND is way too expensive for my price range. That being said, The Dark Knight Armory is the way to go! It's a 2.0 and arguably from the best out of the Nolan trilogy. I'm happy that Hot Toys announced this!!!

Hey Riley, great video of you sharing your thoughts. While I understand that you prefer Bruce Wayne in a suit, I also think that having Bruce in his gym shorts holds just as much value. Reason being that this less formal outfit captures the brokenness that Bruce had experienced being Batman for many years. That knee brace is pertinent to telling that part of the story and it’s great that Hot Toys is giving us that alternate look to show another side of him. Agree?

Also Riley, people who have expendable income and the space to have this armory, will have both versions. They are from two different films. Just like the dark Knight had the Joker as the villain. Dark Knight rises had bane. So if people are collecting a Batman and villain from each film then they may want every armory that's going to be produced. Even if I did have the extra cash to get all these, I probably wouldn't do to space

im in the same boat as you HAHAHA. got DX19 and was pissed with the acrylic armory release so i decided to skip it and the lame power pose. guessed it was a damn good call on my end and paid off well.

Alright, why are we getting this? Not begins 2.0? 1: There's literally already one on preorder, why do we need another tdk batman / armory? 2: no one is talking about this; they're getting worse at bale's face. Particularly the cowl. The dx19 had wide open eyes yes, but the mouth plate is better, with ot's cowl it looks amazing. The body is better but damn. Bale keeps getting made to look older, by everyone. This looks like college humor batman Is it good? yes, but it's how repetitive it is. And it doesn't look as good as OT's upgrades or Unreal's interrogation cowl (picking one specific scene can help as bale in the cowl will always slightly change), they should hire them because at least the constant releases will be worth it.

Its odd the troopers (black & white) w/DS environment, Imperial Commando (BB), Obi Wan (Mandalorian armor), etc were just announced but are already out. The timing of announcements/releasing BM DX19, DKR armory, DK armory 2.0, etc seems odd too. These actions were probably planned at least yr or two ago. HT must anticipate how will collectors will respond. Most businesses make decisions in order to make a max profit. The current state of global economy makes those decisions harder. I'm sure on the business side (capital, logistics, etc) of HT there are things going on that we are not aware of. W/that being said its hard to know mindset of HT. Enjoyed your video. The thing I find so funny about this release is I was talking about this yesterday somebody asked me if I was getting the Armory from The Dark Knight Rises and I told them no I wanted the first Armory from The Dark Knight and look what they did early this morning my God I can understand collectors being upset but me I am happy to see this but I'm not going to purchase it now but I will very soon but they shortened people won Alfred what I'm wondering if they're going to create him by himself or will I have to get the third party one

This would be fine, if they announced them both at the same time and had multiple SKUs, with and without the Bruce Wayne and Batman figures. But this is bad management.

If someone wanted this but ordered the Dark Knight Rises one, that's on them, not Hot Toys. They're different things. And at least they announced it now and not after the Rises one was released.

I think people forget that hot toys is a business. They don’t care about value. Collectors are the ones that are assign any particular figure value. Hot toys tare in it to make money. This isn’t a slap in the face to collectors. I’m getting both. If you like it, collect it if you don’t move on the negativity is unwarranted, there are people who didn’t get to collect the 1.0 or other figures and these issues allow them to collect myself included. Let’s just enjoy the hobby.

I don't like to correct you Riley cuz I really enjoy your videos but, you keep saying the original armory. When you are talking about the dark Knight rises clear acrylic armory. Hot toy is actually released this same armory that you're talking about 8 to 10 years ago. So the one that you talking about today is a 2.0. Why is this the trigger for so many collectors? Hot Toys has been doing this for years now. It’s just a company that makes toys. These are toys, not collector items anymore. Hot Toys used to be at the top of the 1/6 world. It’s now just a cheap brand. The reissue cycle will never end.

Tbh superhero/fantasy "movie" figures rarely gets an up value since companies will always redo them no matter what unless they are owned by sony 😂. The only figures for me "that" has any real value are video game figures since once they are done it takes a very very long time for them to redo another one on that "specific titled game" heck maybe even never again. Like lets say the final fantasy 7 1/6 figures by gametoys i know they are third party but til this day no company has ever made a sixth scale in a "hot toys standard" figure of any final fantasy character and the quality they made is very hard to beat if square enix even tries. Now lets say a kratos(not in a mondo/damtoys,rah, purearts standard) but in a "hot toys/inart standard" was released or lara croft, nathan drake,the original solid snake not big boss. This is also one of the reasons i have respect for iconiq studios tackling video game characters in a higher standard even compared to their movie licensed ones.

These are different armories...both will sell. The batman collecting community is massive and both will sell. To the average collector no, we want just 1 representation. Hot toys will make money off this, that's all they care, money talks and if the majority are buying it then they don't care about the angry customer at the end of the day...those angry customers will still buy hot toys. Collecting hot toys is not an investment, every purchase should be viewed as a depreciating asset from the get go. If you can't justify a depreciating asset don't go for it.
