Of course we all know the actual probability of your opponent getting all of the secondary effects is actually 100%

I find it kind of funny that despite being in a similar boat to Focus Blast (70% accuracy special move that certain Pokémon are forced to run) Hurricane isn't nearly as hated. Guess that goes to show how powerful weather synergy can be at times.

Yeah overall hurricane has more going for it than focus miss

Congratulations, the algorithm has brought me to your presence. May your growth explode (pre gen 5 nerf). I like your analysis videos and even though your normal videos aren't my usual cup of tea, I'm subscribing and hoping you grow. Idk positive vibes. You're doing good. You've made a positive impact on someone probably half the world away so like what a cool thing. I really like that you recommended King the Luck's video. It shows good moral character. Idk I ramble. I'm just hoping to give you good vibes. I look forward to your future content

Well the algorithm yoinked me here. Probably because of the Pokemon Powerpoint guy lol. Nice little vid! Clear voiceover, good editing, subtle music. Hope YT is kind to you.

I wouldn’t consider power gem and aura sphere widely distributed
@Portobello-MushroomАй бұрын
Yeah, now that you mention it aura sphere has a weird distribution. Power gem however is learned by a good amount of mons but almost none of them would ever use it (Garchomp, Sableye, Meowscarada, etc.)
@BeginnerssАй бұрын
@@Portobello-Mushroom Well, the Power Gem argument is fair but then if its distributed to mons that dont use it its not really widely distributed like something like earth power is. Also, Power Gem has no additional effect which is just kinda odd
@Portobello-MushroomАй бұрын
@@Beginnerss Yes, I think we can agree that power gem is a very underwhelming move

i think flying depends on brave bird as a move that has high EV, a drawback fhat does matter, but when 2 for q trades win games, is workable. drill peck is flying physical power gem

Doesn't the weight of the pokemon being hit by the move also contribute to how much damage they take? With heavier pokemon taking more damage.
@Portobello-MushroomАй бұрын
Not in the case of hurricane. The logic (or lack thereof) around Pokemon weight is whole can of worms that I will not be touching, but I think somebody made videos about which Pokemon should be able to fly based on weight
@vincentcircharo825927 күн бұрын
if youre thinking of a flying type move with weight gimmick, its sky drop. and that doesnt change damage on heavier targets, it just fails vs them cuz theyre too heavy to lift lol

That 1 in 145 times chance that hurricane will activate all its nasty effects also means an 1 in 145 game in which, most likely, the player will lose solely because of bad luck. Chances are just math, but I really wished the devs in Game Freak put stuff in the code to prevent those extrememely unlucky situations to happen. Something to prevent same effects or multiple effects to accumulate from happening all the same time. For example, if you used protect first turn, the second turn will not be lowered chance... it will be zero%. If you got fully paralyzed turn 1, the next turn you get too a zero or very neglectible (1 in 65651- like) chance of getting fully paralyzed twice. My point: it's ok and even manageable to overcome something like getting hit by confusion once in three times; it's not maneageble to get around very unlucky outcomes that happen 1in a 100 times; it's not fun to lose any game mostly or entirely due to unlucky RNG.
@JB-fp3fbАй бұрын
But have you considered that just barely WINNING a battle due to some crazy luck is actually really, really fun? Everybody already knows that Pokemon is super random (ergo the result of a single battle is not worth much), the loser should just not take their bad luck too seriously.
@gust20xx3228 күн бұрын
@@JB-fp3fb Unfortunately, winning due to some crazy luck has the opposite effect on me. No joy, no pleasure nor any feeling like that you described, just plain guilt. I'm not even joking, I'm dead serious when I say that the sensation is of guilt. Experienced it many times. The sympathy for the other player that lost by a pure unlucky event is much stronger. It feels like as If I didn't "deserved" the result, that "this was not supposed to happen", "it was not a consistent win", "this match didn't count". The funny thing is that taking the game seriously is far from my approach to it, but I also can't change how I feel about those very lucky wins, regardless. What you said does give some good perspective, though. Are there people that can and would feel happy in winning by pure luck? Most likely yes, and a lot of them. Am I the only one in the world to _not_ enjoy a super lucky win? Definitely not. There surely are lots of other people that, like me, wouldn't like it too, for sure. And that's ok.
