Just a few minutes in here and I really understand what you’re saying. I like to have my eyeshadow palettes on display on a shelf so I can see what I have and what makeup look I’m feeling that day. I just recently decluttered about 38 eyeshadow palettes because i had to be honest, I wasn’t using them. I have felt guilty buying so much makeup and I’m not even a content creator.

this is not a " getting rid of eyeshadows". its basically keeping them in another place of my house :)

This was an awesome video! As a content creator who had a huge eyeshadow and a son with Autism I really connected with your feelings about your collection. I truly get this, and that’s coming from someone with 200-300 palettes, but I decluttered around 150 on the past year and do not regret it at all. What’s interesting to me, is so many of these are newer, so this must have been a build up of subconscious stress, like you said and then a recent commitment to doing something about it. I like the idea of putting some in storage,and like you said with the Melt one, if you really want it that badly, you’ll get it out. It’s funny bc I’m a creature of habit in every way, except my eyeshadow palettes. I love getting out a different one every day. That’s why I can still justify how many I have. But, I’m super picky about what I purchase now. I went from purchasing 100 on one year, to about 20 this past year. That Monster Inc palette is huge omg! Haha this was so interesting to me. I completely understand the anxiety that a huge collection can bring! I don't have my makeup collection stored the way I would like (I have 4 kids and a space is limited), so I cant see most of what I have. I keep a little 2 drawer dresser in my bedroom/bathroom to store most of my collection. Because I can't see everything, I feel like I dont get to use everything like I would want to. Also, when I am in a hurry in the mornings, I get overwhelmed and rushed and end up not putting on any makeup! So, I started a Mercari page and I gift/pass along makeup that I end up not using or liking with my fair skin tone. That's another issue with eyeshadow...It might be a stunning color story and formula, but a lot of it doesn't work on my light skin. This is a wonderful declutter/collection video. ❤ P.S. I keep a memory box for palettes that are older that I loved or dont use anymore but can't let go of. Nothing huge, a picture box I bought from A.C.Moore. One day, I would like acrylic shelves to display my palettes and be able to see and get use out of my favorites. P.S. My youngest child is disabled and you learn alot about yourself and what is important in life. 😊

Would love to see you curate your collection and project pan! ❤ I totally get what you're saying, I have 13 palettes and 15 minis and that is overwhelming for me. But what has helped is having the rephr palette holder because I put it on my dresser, and it holds 7 palettes, so I put the ones I want to focus on in there and the rest go in my drawer. I really like the simplicity of having 7 palettes I'm using. After a certain number of uses on each palette I switch them out 😊

Things make me extremely anxious too. I think those scooby palettes are actually really pretty and unique I would keep those

I technically put my palettes in storage too. I shop thru and put certain ones in my drawer. Probably still too many but it opened up my drawer and I don’t feel overwhelmed. Then I can shop my stash when I’m bored of what I have out.

Just by your into I love you already. You came randomly to my recommendations! I also found out I usually go to very easy and classical looks on the daily. I was lucky I could sell a bunch of stuff because I though I was allergic, but discovered again I wasn’t and this has gave me some perspective. I like small, curated pallets with 10 pans. I like color, but not too much. It’s a process to go through and to know yourself. Makeup made me love myself after over 20 years, but you must learn that it’s a process and that you can’t buy self-love by hoarding makeup.

I also need to keep my collection small, but your small and my small seem to be different 😅, i have 58. Granted, i have about a dozen more i wish i could get. My thing is, i finally, after five years, figured out what i want to do, i want to concentrate on eyes and cheeks. Get 3 or 4 foundations and Bob's your uncle. For me this all makes sense now because believe it or not, at 56, i just found out im autistic 😂 i also love single eyeshadows ❤ instead of storage, have you thought of a makeup museum? Im creatin one, it also includes some (as in make up creating even a century ago) the history of makeup facinates me. Unfortunately, i have a very small budget to work with, but, that's also ok because not everyone has money for makeup so i hope subscribers can see you don't always have to spend money, use what you have. Yeah, i need s9me indi prands this year 😢. I hope we can become friends this year 😘😘😘😘💖💖💖💖💖

I think why nobody talks about morphe anymore is because a lot of their shadows got recalled for not being safe for eyes.

If there's certain things I can't accept > I don't even buy it or keep it in my house > off they go asap even if it's like a $200 item. Not worth the stress.

I recommend looking at Hannah Louise Poston's channel. She has been able to do a makeup channel surrounding the topic of consuming less and purchasing less. She has really interesting content
