John Lennox is a great evangelist. Talking of the 'new atheists', I'd like them to know, they were a large part of why I came back to my faith. I listened to their arguments and realised 1. they were so wrong 2. I didn't want to be on their 'team'. On the side of cynicism, nihilism, ego, pointless/meaningless existence... They (the new atheists) inspired me to re-examine the arguments for faith, which I did, and my heart followed, very quickly.

I've observed that the argument is no longer about evidence or logic but about mere defence, you will defend your world view no matter how face slappingly obvious the evidence is. Science has done nothing but describe the universe not why or how the universe came to be. A car can be brought down to the laws of physics but it doesn't explain why it is so. Or how it came to be.

GW1: That is true about some people. From evidence and logic, it is obvious that God does not exist, and yet some people continue to think he does. Sad. I1: Science has done nothing but describe the universe not why or how the universe came to be. GW1: Describing the universe, as far as that has progressed, is a very great accomplishment! Science does tackle the question of how the universe came to be, even though we don’t yet know the answer. “Came to be” does not necessarily mean “came into existence.” There are at least four good reasons to think that the universe is eternal and constantly changing. “Why” questions, especially with respect to motives, may not be relevant to the universe as a whole. I1: A car can be brought down to the laws of physics but it doesn't explain why it is so. GW1: A car is the way it is because one or more human beings designed it to be that way. There is no mystery here. Your mistake is probably in thinking that life, human beings, or the universe itself were designed. I1: Or how it came to be. GW1: We know how a car came to be. We can watch it on the assembly line.

Excellent Interview by a true Professional with, no interruptions only, sincere listening which is so rare, it's remarkable. John Lennox has become my Greatest Philosopher of Christianity. His knowledge of Scripture, in Depth Practical Analysis and Strength of Character is down to earth Believable and Understandable. John for me is a Blessing.The only questions, I would love to hear him present is, his Career in Mathematics which is where his Teaching and Doctorate was Central that is clouded. I can only Thank You Amy for, your interview that for me is Awesome! I have no clue who you work for but they need to know, who we have cherished.

At best, he allowed his son/self to endure a bad few days nailed to a tree, so that he could be a sacrifice, (possibly to himself) to pay for the sin that god created in order to fulfill a need to sacrifice his son/self at whatever passes for a future event in God's timeless realm. It made me cry. Listening to John Lennox being an academic and a Christian. What touched me most is about his view about suffering and guilt and very often the pointed finger of members of the congregation at the suffering person, saying that there must be a moral reason for it. Me going through a lot of turmoil during my life losing my younger brother at the age of 20, while I was facing divorce with 2 little daughters and losing my second husband 4 Years ago to cancer after 2 terrible work accidents, left me with a lot of questions to GOD. But I also ended with the Cross. It doesn't say that all my questions are answered. But after all I always felt a strong protection over my life. Professor John Lennox encourages people to remember that God gave them a brain and mind to use it and not follow blind a crowd and to listen carefully what they say. There are a lot of "Teachers" and leaders out there. The Bible askes us to proof if it is true, even what is tought in the Bible. And during my life after making mistakes leaving me humble and recognise that GOD's laws are the frame for life, a moral compass and guidance. Human beings creating "Human" can only go wrong and to search for 'eternal life' can only go terribly wrong. There is a part in the Bible where is said that people will seek death and they will not find it. I am very grateful for the chance to listen to this interview! And I hope that Professor John Lennox will have many more chances to speak about his faith. If he would come to Germany again it would be great to get the chance to listen again.

@@Yossarian. Yes everything is possible and its a matter of faith but read the book "The God Theory" by Bernard Haisch astrophysicist. There are many others books by other scientists on God- the fact that you hv a rational mind and can link up with the mathematical laws of the universe is a big hint

It is very important to understand what christianism is, what it states and why it takes you to the truth. Apart from that, we must be humble enough to be open to explore all ways that explain reality, both material and spiritual, by applying the principles of logic such as identity principle, non contradiction, etc.

Good point on the term 'apologist'. Here are my personal thoughts: It's a term that I was not familiar with, and it speaks to the reality that many agnostics (like me) and atheists are somewhat repelled by this unfamiliar language. Apologist makes me think of 'apology', and in a religious context it makes me assume that it means something extreme. Probably because contemporary assumptions around all religion is fairly extreme, but that is sadly where we are, and only mutually understood language can help bridge that gap in understanding. I find John Lennox compelling as a speaker and a thinker because he communicates in a way that I and most people would easily understand; the manner of his communication is very relatable. Many Christian communicators speak in terms that would seemingly (to me) be appropriate for a sermon, which turns us away. To us, it appears cult-like on the surface; it requires a level of knowledge, understanding and general familiarity that non-religious folk do not possess. It feels extreme. Saying something as seemingly obvious to Christians as 'Christ gave his life for us'... I don't know what that means. I would really appreciate some discussion around Christianity that helps me to understand what exactly there core tenets of Christianity actually mean.

He has faith in science, which is an investigative process in the pursuit of knowledge, and he also has faith in things unknown, unknowable, and unprovable. It just goes to show that humans are master of compartmentalization without listening and weeding out their innate contradictions.

Ah ha the dissenting opinion. So how do you know that that faith in God is the unknown? Have you listened to his reasoning that Christianity is based on things we do know? Have you heard him say that Christianity is an evidenced based belief? In fact have you heard that faith is not the popular opinion of blind belief, but faith is correctly seen in history as trust based on evidence. Even you used faith in two contexts that could go either way. Are you trying to say that belief in science is a fiction?

So much to say. First, God bless you for this content and God bless you both. Dr Lennox is an absolute treasure. One of the clips played during this video really set me off and it was Peter Atkins having a fit over the universe coming out of nothing. I can’t recall but has anyone pointed him to Dr Lawrence Krauss, the boisterous loudmouth new atheist in AZ USA (boy aren’t I a proud fellow American) who proudly proclaims this very thing in his somewhat fairly recent book “A Universe From Nothing”. Wow that is just precious

Yes he has had a radio broadcast with him in which he addresses many things. He also points out the issue of Dr Krauss trying to get something from nothing when nothing is redefined as something. Dr. Dawkins even tries some of Dr. Krauss' thoughts on Dr. Lennox and fails miserably.

@@vladtheemailer3223 Well I would have to view the entire interview again, but I liked in one such video he used the fact that Christianity is falsifiable and as such testable. He pointed out 4 things in which if any one were proven false would raise serious doubts about Christianity. The 4 are: Jesus was not born of a virgin, Jesus lead a sinless life, Jesus was crucified on a cross, and Jesus is risen from the dead. These 4 points all go to the historicity of Jesus. I would also like to point out that is all 4 are true, then the argument from history is enough to prove God of the God exists. Combined with other arguments makes for a an unshakeable cumulative case for God.
