In this video, I introduce the new car to the Pedal Loud fleet. It’s a replacement for the Karmann Ghia classic a 1989 Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI.

Oh man wicked purchase, nice clean example as well. Fair to say seen a fair share growing up! Was going to buy a 1.9 but it went so ended up buying the corvette which is always broken!

@@damos_cars unfortunately I sold mine after a ban... 21 years ago. The lad who bought it wrapped it round a tree, so at least it went out with a bang! BTW, I sold it for £100...(I'm kicking myself.) Glad you're enjoying the 205, yours is very nice. One day, I might get another.

You just got a new subscriber! Beautiful GTI! I can barely wait to take my 89 CTI out, they are extremely entertaining cars to drive. Since I live in the western part of Sweden I'd better wait til april, though.

Awesome car man! I just bought a 1986 205 1.4xt as my first car. It has the twin weber carbs which is a pain in my ass but i love it😂 definitetly a dream of mine to drive a 1.6 or 1.9. Enjoy it!

@@damos_cars I sure hope so! My dad owned a 1.9 and told me Many Great stories which got me into the 205s. So having one in the future is a real dream!

Cracking cars, then and now. They came out in the early 80’s on the ‘A’ reg, not early 90’s.

Absolutely the best car ever! I had 2 x 1.6 over 9 years and took a few 1.9s for demos when I spotted any at main dealers as p/x's. the problem with every other car I've driven since 1989 is that they are too cosseting and/or not as communicative to me as a driver. Who cares if I can potentially do 150 or halve the 0-62 time, surely driving is about enjoying the twisty country roads; anyone can just put their foot down on the motorway!

I've owned 3 1.9 versions. If you get the shockers changed have a look at the rear beam also. Have the tracking and sorted and it will feel amazing. Great video.

i have a 1.6 GTI with 30k km and 1.6 CTI. much prefer the 1.6 to the 1.9. i do like the original 1.6 pepper pot wheels though.

Yeh, know what you mean. Only driven a 1.9 briefly and not in anger so not best placed to comment. I do have the 1.6 pepperpots to go back on but they need a refurb first. One day.

Was the car scrapped / written off or is that a dummy plate on it? DVLA don't seem to have any details on it at all 🤔
