Why I Bought a 2016 MacBook Pro in 2020

I'd suggest with a butterfly keyboard you get a keyboard cover like the GhostCover, tbh that one is the best one by far as it's almost air tight and doesn't allow any dust inside while barely affecting the typing experiencel

I got my MacBook Pro in 2018 and have never had a problem with the butterfly keyboard (yet!!). I actually like the clickity sound it makes 😂 This video was awesome!!

I agree with the clicking satisfaction. I picked up a 2018 15 inch version on ebay recently. So far no regrets. The 16 inch models are way over my budget. Great video btw. You made a great choice in getting that macbook pro. It's a fine machine that should last you many years.

Divontay Swing must have been a high spec. I’m looking for a 2016-2019 one for college with 16gb of ram min looking at no more than 1k. Thanks for the figure

My 2012 screen broke I tried fixing it and messed it up. I just ordered one little skeptical.. I hope I love as much as my 2012 will miss that laptop!

don’t know if it’s a smart move, but i’m going from a 2019 13” quad core i5 with touchbar and 4 thunderbolt 4 ports to this exact model you showed. i need a bigger laptop with better speakers and battery. i could get this 15.4” for 230 bucks so i’d say why not. i love the keyboard on my 13” and it has never let me down.

I have the same model, Macbook pro 15 2016 model…i just have the 256gb 😊 Its now 2022 and this model of Mac still runs well..never had issues with my keyboard since day 1 until today but now i start to have shorter battery life😅

Thanks for this video. Unfortunately for me the keyboard replacement ended for me in May of this year. I was five months off and now I can’t do anything about it.

Same here I just bought 2016 MacBook Pro 15 inch with 2.9 ghz i7 intel core and 1 tb ssd and it’s faster then my old 2012 MacBook Pro 15 inch

I just got my 2016 from 2014, the keyboards is the main problem.. it's loud, less tactile so uncomfortable..

@@niels9663 i got it ages ago, still works great even in this day n age, obviously things could be improved but its perfect for what i use it for, although now with those new m1 macbooks out there i may get one of them for the IO

How did you get a 2016 brand new model? Apple usually phases out its old units.

gio pentinio You are quite correct. That’s why many users end up receiving replacement units that are refurbs or even 2019 models. I issued a text correction in that portion of the video where I said that, as I had meant to say a brand new Top Case*, not entire unit. The screen and SSD are still the same as before. Everything else is made up of new replacement parts though.

I wanted an m1 but ended up getting this for a veryyyyyy cheap price and basically in brand new condition. My use case is just writing and movies, do you think its still a good option

After replacing the keyboard does it work or it may require multiple replacements?. people are selling for less than 700 (keyboard replaced). Is it worth it?

It’s the same keyboard mechanism but with a filter in it to keep dust from getting in. I have heard of keys still getting stuck with some users though, although everyone I know personally hasn’t had any issues after their replacement. It’s a little more resilient once you get it replaced with that new filter. I just personally wouldn’t recommend eating crackers directly over your laptop

@@ClipPlayTV i am not sure if apple will still replace if there is any issue since it is over 4 year now. by the way i have the 12 inch 2015 (the first to use the butterfly keyboard) and it is still working fine for me. never had any keyboard issue.

Script. Script. Script. Can’t emphasize that enough, makes a big difference in post. Also, work on delivery of certain lines you speak out for proper emphasis. Listening to podcasts and work of journalists can help a lot. A good “TV” or “Radio” type of voice really helps to make videos easier to watch and listen to. In over 4 years of doing content for KZfaq, this is the thing that has helped me the most. Wish you the best with your channel! MacBook Pro 2014 and above can run Big Sur out of the box

Yes it did! I actually sold mine when I upgraded to a 16 inch last year, but the friend I sold my 2016 two still has it and it still works totally fine with a new keyboard

@@ClipPlayTV Cool! The one on offer had keyboard replaced in August 2019 so I am assuming that very highly likely they used the 2017 keyboard. And it has not shown any issue yet (according to seller) so it may be fine. Although i am not sure why he is selling (I hope to get the new M1 macbook pro 🙂).

Apple's keyboard service program still supports MacBooks (MacBook, pro, and air) from as early as 2015 And they also do the 2016 Macbook Pro (2 and 4 thunderbolt port) display backlight service program.

To the contrary, The M1 Mac looks impressive. There’s a possibility one of them might eventually replace my 2009 Mac Pro down the road if it can handle intensive video editing 👀
