This lens is straight up magic. There’s just something special about how this thing renders. It stays on my main camera all day at weddings.

You should rent the canon RF 85 1.2 and do an comparison for the Samyang and RF lens

Great review man!! Needed to stop by before I check out on Amazon lol. Is there vignetting? There’s one review on here that shows heavy vignetting. I wonder if an update fixes it

There’s a tad bit in the top left corner but it’s nothing unlike other lenses like the 50mm or 24-70 before adding the correction profile in Lightroom! I honestly didn’t even notice it until I added the profile onto it

They don’t, it got discontinued and these lenses are worth a lot $$$ aftermarket because of it lol. If you see one snatch it!

Do you know if the new stock is coming with the updated firmware ? If not does the samyang lens station works for the Rokinon as there are the same? Just bought the Rokinon right now. Nice video, helped me a lot to buy it. Keep up the good job mate.

I believe they are. One of my friends locally bought one about three months ago and his had the latest firmware. They also both work the exact same with the lens dock. Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you enjoy your lens!

It’s not, only Sony E Mount. This lens is no longer sold new, but you can still find the mark I second hand on sites like eBay.

I am new to photography. I have the canon r6 ( my first mirror less) I heard good things about the canon 85 L and the 28-70 f2 lens however the price point is crazy. Thanks for your video. I will be going with the Rokinon or Samyang this month. How has your experience been since this video??

The 28-70 is insannnnely priced and hard to find. My experience has been amazing with the 85. Did another shoot with it last night with my R5. Absolutely tack sharp at 3200 ISO! I’ve used it for 3 shoots the past few days💯

My RF samyang 85mm f 1.4 became a brick recently on my canon R6. Please beware. I think it had to do with the new firmware. It now doesn’t recognize and says f00 error. Anyone else have this issue? I’m pissed because it worked great for years. I really don’t want to degrade the firmware so I’m stuck. Any similar issues? Thanks.

I use EOS R for mainly portraits and products (like toy figures) photography. May I know whether the photo quality would be ok to do handheld low-light night portraits without the tripod, given that both this lens and EOS R are without image stabilization. Besides, for close-up photos of some products, what do you think for its 0.9m shortest focus distance?

I used this lens and the EOS are for months without any form of stabilization. Just keep your shutter at 1/80 and above and they will come out great!

Hi thank you for sharing your deep info about the lens. I recently bought a Sony a6300. I want to ask and get assistance from you I can still use my Rokinon Canon lens on my Sony a6300! Which adapted should I buy.🙏 Please respond thank you

You should be able to use the Sony version without an adapter! It uses the same E mount as the A7 cameras

It’s been officially discontinued. No particular reason given. They are such a great value and very rare. There are still a few on eBay.

This didn't age well. Canon has made them cease selling this lens... and won't allow any 3rd party manufacturers to make RF lenses now.

Can you update Samyang with rockinon dock? Did you update it? Mine is soft and sucks on my r6

Yes you can! They're both the exact same lens just with different branding. Works the exact same.

Does it still work fine with the latest canon firmware? I heard a few months back, Samyang stopped production on all RF lenses, because Canon was going to make it so that 3rd party RF lenses won’t be able to autofocus anymore.

Hey! It still works fine with the latest firmware versions of my R, and R5. I also updated the Lens to the latest Samyang firmware, and it still works like a charm! I don’t think Canon would do something like that at this point. Especially with Sigma gearing up to produce RF lenses by 2023.

From what I found in trying to research that, that’s all just rumor. Rokinon appears to still be producing the RF line so should continue to support it.

I bought it refurbished from B&H! But it came with the new packaging and was practically unused

@@ClipPlayTV Thank you for your inspiring video. I just ordered a used one from B&H. Just a quick question. Someone just criticized the lens for having a green tone. Have you noticed it?

No problem! Thank you so much for your support. Glad to hear you found it helpful! I haven’t really noticed a green tint in my photos, even if it is present, I usually always work on my white balance the second I get my images out of camera. Even with that said though, the images have all looked normal to me. I’ve gotten great skin tones out of this lens.

You think its a great upgrade from the ef 85 1.8? Im also using an r6 body

Absolutely! It’s a MASSIVE difference lol. The 1.8 is much less sharp, and the chromatic aberration levels on the EF are much worse than the RF. It’s an amazing upgrade imo. Would 100% recommend.

No problem! I would also suggest looking into PayPal credit as an option. They have an option for interest free payments if paid in full within 6 months. I’m planning on it! Going full time with my media business once I graduate college in May, so expect more content consistently in the future🤘

I have the Canon R5. The Samyang RF 85mm F 1.4 is no longer available thanks to Canon's crackdown on 3rd party manufacturers of RF lenses for Canon RF cameras. Canon at this point when it comes to RF cameras is turning into a real A-Hole. They want consumers to buy Canon overpriced RF lenses denying 3rd parties like Samyang & Sigma for their more affordable RF lenses. FU Canon.
