What’s stopping you from enlisting

lol….no you do not. I’ve known, as I am married to a woman with two submariners in the family, several nuke operators and they didn’t have engineering degree. In fact, my father has a Ph.D in Power and Energy Management, a field of engineering that is responsible for power plant operations, and he’ll readily tell you that they are incredibly certified, but a degree isn’t necessary unless you’re an officer.

To be an 18D you essentially have to learn enough trauma medicine to work in ICU, enough animal husbandry to run a farm, enough dentistry to pull teeth, and skilled enough to be a general local doctor for the friendly allies in less than a year.. it is by far the most academically rigorous as your essentially doing all of medschool in a year along with several other disciplines.

The CCT’s are not the most academically challenging. They learn how to air traffic control and to be able to that cross platform with the other branches. And specops units. They are incredibly versatile, but they don’t have the foreign language demands that a Green Beret does. And, I’d be willing to bet that you don’t speak a foreign language. The PJ’s, like the Navy SEALs, Force Recon & MARSOC Corpsmen, go to the 18-D course, taught by Green Berets. But, they ONLY go through 1/3 of the training that a Green Beret goes through. Why? Because, there’s no need to go through the dental and veterinary portions of the course. But, a Green Beret medical goes through all three portions. And, veterinarian and dental science training/school both are considered harder than medical school.

@@philipdru9290 dude stop! PJ’s do not attend JSMOTC for 18 D training! They do 37 weeks at Kirtkand, PJ school is extremely hard and academically challenging probably harder than ours, that’s why those guys are on the National Registry of Paramedics once they graduate, 18 D’s are not!
