I was an Lpn for 18 years. Been an RN for 3 years. Trust me when I say opportunity is there for both. BUT you will do the same work as an RN but make on average $1500(+) less a month being an LPN. That's with a 36hr week average. I encourage everyone if they have to finish quick and make money to get their LPN. But then go back for their RN unless they have entrepreneurial ventures planned

It takes a bit longer for the RN program. ADN is about 2 years, BSN is 4

@@tammybenadventures4839 2-3 semesters more than LPN depending on the program. It's worth it though

For a long time I didn’t have any desire to do LPN/LVN either; I wasn’t even really familiar with what it was 😅. But I’m in California and the competition for RN programs here is insane. I completed all the prerequisites with a 3.9 GPA and 89.3 on the TEAS, and still didn’t get accepted to all 5 RN programs I applied to. So I ended up becoming a CNA and I’m currently an LVN student.

Thank you so much for your honesty in this video. It is not easy to come on camera and admit why you decided to become a LPN. I have no idea who you are and this is the first time I have watched your video but I am very proud of you simply because you did not give up and you accomplished your goal. I have been a LPN since 2008. Please, Please do not fall into the belief that you are not a nurse because you are not a RN this is not true. You are a nurse and you can go as far as you want to as a LPN there are lots of added LPN certificate programs that you can add to your name this can help you to increase nursing knowledge. There are lots of opportunities as a LPN. Congrats on being a nurse. Enjoyed the video.

Great choice you have to do what best for you! It’s crazy how people just feel that RN is the be all… I too have a BS in HCA & looking into doing an LPN program. It’s the best decision I made to do admin side first follow up with nursing! The burnout is real and with you having that as an option it will break it up from clinical to nonclinical. I say go for it !!💯💯💯💯🦋💯

I'm an accountant, been doing it for 2 years. I just came up with the thought of going for LPN school. When I first started college I went to a private school for Physical Therapy Assistance but I couldnt keep up with the pace (went faster than a 2 year program) so I was intimidated by health careers because of the science and math reqs. I looked at the LPN reqs vs RN reqs and was like uhm .. Yeah no I'm try LPN first THEN maybe RN lol. I was like woah! Definitely a difference in the classes. I'm happy that you were able to find a way to achieve your dream of being a Nurse!!! How's it going? Congratulations on your new career😊 Do you miss Medical Assisting?

At my facility, the lpn does everything an RN does except push iv cardiac meds and hang blood products. But some examples are, give IV meds, Foley catheters, straight caths, bladder scans, ng tubes, etc.

@@NurseMiaLPN2 well, you said in the video that you were about drop out of the RN program because of microbiology before you learned about the LPN program. There’s definitely nothing wrong with struggling. Lots of people struggle because the RN program is hard. I don’t mean to offend you but it’s not like you had a luxury of choice in this matter. I’m yet to meet anyone, who can get financially and intellectually get through the RN program, decide to choose LPN over RN.
