I've had both of these breeds (rott/corso). I have a homestead and currently have 10 dogs and 5 different breeds including Cane Corso, Fila Brasileiro, Presa Canario, American Bulldog and Bandogge Mastiff It's true what you say about a Rottweiler being easier to train. Cane Corso's take a long time to mature, like most Mastiff breeds and they go threw a stubborn phase, again like most Mastiff breeds. But they are bigger, more athletic and powerful than the Rottweiler. It comes down to personal preference and what you have access to. I like the Corso and Fila for guarding my farm, it's what they are bred for. But for someone who doesn't live on a farm and has a regular house, a well bred Rottweiler is certainly a good choice

Dogs 4 Home protection hi, do you have livestock? Just wondering if you do, how these dogs work with the livestock? I know we hear about LSGDs but these people don’t realize that while they were used for millennia for LS protection , it was a VERY small area of the world ( mountain ranges in Europe and Asia) Many OTHER breeds can be fantastic LS guardians and have been:) Say that on a goats site if you want trolls. Seriously, I am an older lady who enjoys hearing dog breed experiences. While I am NOT a terrier fan, ( don’t fit my lifestyle) I did have a Bandogge who was abandoned. Sadly he died of cancer. I kid you not, two goats and two ornery geese, stood by his body still as statues while I dug the hole for his burial. They followed me to the grave like a funeral procession. And only turned and walked away after I put his headstone up. The LS adored him! Thanks for reading!!

Being a Cane Corso channel creator and dog owner, I really enjoyed your videos. Even more so with this one. I am prefer Cane Corso but I agree with you 100%. Cane corso being a much younger re-creation since the 70s in a much smaller gene pool has so much more work to do compared to Rottweilers. The success of the breed came from responsible breeders with high standard vision. The rottweilers breeders have set an excellent example for all cane corso breeders to follow.

I've had a corso, a rottie, and a corso/rottie mix. I find in my experience anyway that the rottie and the rottie/corso mix were headstrong, very brave and way more aggressive when protecting. My corso was super calm and mature. He was not aggressive but was protective and did not like strangers but tolerated them. Although one time he attacked my neighbor for getting too close to my 2 yr old son (which was the only time in 10 years he attacked anyone, plus he was very protective of my boy and would let him do anything like climb up on him like a horse, pull his ears and flick his jiggly lips). I’ve owned and have experience with both breeds, and I love both of them, but when it comes to guarding and home protection I found my Cane Corso took that role more seriously than my Rottweiler. They’re actually very similar in temperament, but my Cane Corso’s were more affectionate than my Rotties. However, the Cane Corso I had suffered from separation anxiety whereas my Rottweiler was fine being alone. At the end of the day it boils down to each individual dog. @@emmathepsychic9078 I personally ended up getting a Rott instead of Cane. First off, they look pretty much like pitbull to most people (maybe with minor differences). Second is that Cane are not as intelligent as Rotts. Third is that MOST people would consider Rott to be a pretty in appearance and mostly intimidating. I also have a large property. I also have kennels and about 5 different breeds. We have Cane Corso, Presa Canario, Fila Brasileiro, American Bulldog and Bandogge Mastiff Any of these are great for this job, just make sure you get a few, one dog isn't enough for a large area, regardless of breed

Corsos do best with “space guarding” they were bred more for property protection while rotties lean more towards people protecting. They both can do both but one is slightly better than the other. But you could get both as well!

Man...you would drop this as i was narrowing down my options as well!lbs.-- I've always wanted a rottie....but in recent years, I've been looking into the Bullys and now the Cane Corso-- I can't lie, more recently I've been leaning more toward the Cane Corso for home protection and for family as well. But it's interesting that your brought up Brutale....he's definitely the epitome of what i would want or something like a Cerber (Presa Canario) as far as looks goes. lol....Feel like I'm back to square 1 now--- if you don't mind; where/what kennel did you purchase your rottie from and do they have any more left? I'd like to see what the parents look like as well!

English mastiff, Neo mastiff, these two are pretty great for an apartment lifestyle because they tend to be laid back dogs that won't destroy everything, of course they will start out as puppies and puppies will always chew but when they're older they're so chill and don't require a lot of exercise and aren't high energy dogs, saliva would be the biggest problem with most big breeds though. Another note is that if your landlord likes to make unexpected visits or live in a building where maintenance has been known to just open your door here and there while you're not home, it happens and that can be dangerous.

Great choice. Corsos are not for everyone. They require alot of attention and you have to be experienced in training. They have a unique personality and you have to understand their genetic traits in order to get the best out of them. A Corso has been bred for specific tasks. So you have to understand that and see if it fits to your lifestyle. From my humble experience a working line corso strives in a highly structured environment. Predictability and routine goes a long way in training. Consistency is key no slacking off at least for the first 3-4yrs. A Corso lives a happy life with a Job to do. Solid firm leadership, discipline and communication skills are a must with a Corso. Every dog needs a good human leader and most will fall in line but a Corso will challenge your leadership skills if you're not consistent. Lol😂 Beautiful and smart breed when they know exactly what is expected of them.

Actually what you wrote applies to the Rottweiler too. They are working dogs bred for very specific purposes (pulling carts, watching over cattle, protection). This means they need a job, to always be near their owners, a very strong leadership and consistency since they are dominant and stubborn and you cannot waver. I've got two and I'm currently training my male. The slightest change of determination in my voice makes the difference between him acting like a soldier and him ignoring the command (he is still in training). They are not for everyone.

James Higginbotham Rotts are great. One of the best breeds out there. I love them. However, Doberman's suck. Pathetic dog. I've seen so many, my cousin had one and my neighbour had one and the majority I have seen in dog parks were terrible. My neighbour's was brutal and one day he got what he deserved. He picked a fight with a Malamute on our street and got destroyed. That Malamute was always so docile. Boy did he turn like a wild wolf. Fight lasted about ten seconds. Never saw an ass kicking like that ever! And he was bred to guard and protect lmao! The Doberman never wanted to leave his house again.

Great explanation of how/why you made your decision. A new puppy came into our lives on the 14th of August. He's a mix of something. Looks to be a German Shepherd and Schnauzer mix. Only a DNA test would give us the best idea of what he is. The good thing is that he fits in with my pack. I know some people that would think 5 dogs and 2 cats would be overload. But, to me if I can afford to have them then really what does it matter.

Hey Zeke, since you're talking about corsos, and you have met multiple corsos and presas, can you answer me something? I see a lot of people comparing Corsos and Presas, but everytime I see a presa with a person on a picture it looks like a smaller dog, some even look comparable to an American Staffordshire in size. So my question is, are presas and corsos the same size on average? Do you have a picture or a video of two males of those breeds side by side ? Thanks in advance if you get to answer this man.
