When first looking at getting a Honda Rebel, you have likely wondered if you should get the Honda Rebel 300 or the Rebel 500. You may also be wondering about the Honda Rebel 1100, but that will be saved for a different video. In this video, I go over some of the things that I considered when purchasing the Honda Rebel 500 instead of the Rebel 300. While it was a fairly easy decision for me to make, some people may have a difficult time knowing which one is the best bike to get, especially for their first bike. Hopefully I can help you with your decision by some of the things I discuss. Either way, both bikes are awesome Honda machines. Ride safe!

After some break in and getting used to the bike I am very happy with the 300. I wouldn’t have ridden any more than I have with the 300 and it would have just cost me more up front +$1500 and a loss of 10-20 mpg. I have no problem keeping up and averaging 90 mpg while I do. Love my 300

That’s awesome, I’m glad you are happy with your 300! At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is if you are enjoying your bike. That’s crazy, 90 mpg?!

Aside from the issues with the gauge being a bit lacking (visibility in the day and no tach), I honestly think this video helped me figure out my personal debate of which rebel to get first. I'm thinking I might be back to team 500. Was thinking the 1100 because of all it offers, but that mass amount of options and features could also overwhelm a newer rider. Thank you for yet another great video. Be safe and have fun, Evergreen.

I’m happy I was able to help out! It’s a hard debate for sure, I totally understand both choices and I don’t think you could go wrong either way. It would be nice if Honda released a Rebel 500 upgraded version that got you a few more features that the 1100 offers (like cruise control, a tach, etc.). But either way, both are awesome bikes!

In France, we don't have much choice; it's either the 500 or the 1100. I find it amazing how all the Rebels, regardless of the engine size, look kinda the same in terms of esthetic! They have almost the same dimensions. I agree with your perspective and choice of the motorcycle. I can't wait to have mine!!

That’s interesting that the 300 isn’t available. I’ve never been to France, but I imagine it would be just as popular in France as it is in other countries. Do you have any ideas on why the 300 isn’t available? Awesome! It will be so much fun when you get your Rebel, such a great bike!

@@evergreenmoto There is 4 different "bike driving permit" here in France, up to 50cc, up to125cc, up to 600cc and 600cc and more. i'm not sure that people would go for the 600cc permit just to get a 300cc, they will take the 500cc most of the time. 125cc and 300cc are not realy different so they wont pay ther permit to get basicaly the same bike as a 125cc.

@@jesuisalex5649 that’s a really cool structure, I really like the idea of having different tiers. Yeah, that’s fair. If you get the 600 permit, I would imagine you would want something close to a 600. Ride safe!

Hey, that parking lot in the intro is the same parking lot I practice my low-speed maneuvers in lmao I got the 500 because the 300 didn't have much highway power, and I felt the 1100 would be too powerful for a beginner rider such as myself. Having owned the 500 for a few months now, I can see myself riding it for years; I honestly don't feel the need for anything else, it does everything I want.
@evergreenmoto

Ha, no way! Are you kidding?? That is really crazy. Yep, I agree with exactly what you said. I wanted the 500 so that I could go on the highway comfortably and take it on long rides, but didn’t get the 1100 because I was worried it would be too much to start with (plus it’s more expensive). But I feel like my 500 does everything I want it to as well. Perfect middle ground. Let me know if you ever want to have a Rebel meet up/ride! It would be awesome to setup an Evergreen group ride someday.

Thanks for the video. When I bought the rebel 300 I sat on both 300 and 500 and because of price finding the 300 with basically break in miles being used and price I bought that. I just took my 300 on a road trip and handled perfectly. I do want a bike with more power but instead of a 500 I will go with the 1100.

Yes! I think that makes total sense to go from the 300 to the 1100. The 500 is a fantastic bike, but I can’t imagine it’s significantly different from the 300 after you get used to riding it. Getting the 1100 might end up feeling like a whole new bike. Ride safe!

Excuse me, I wanna ask something. Do both honda rebel 300 and 500 look exactly the same?
@evergreenmoto
@evergreenmoto 2 ай бұрын
Pretty much, there are a few small differences but they are basically the same bike other than the engine displacement.

Do you think 500 is more for city ride and 1100 is more suited for going on some trips ?
@evergreenmoto
@evergreenmoto 9 ай бұрын
Good question. I’m not the best person to answer this because I have not taken the 1100 on long trips out of town. I will say that if you had to categorize the rebels, the 300 would be great for cities/backroads, the 500 is totally fine in the city, but you can’t unleash the full potential by riding in the city only. Plus, I’ve taken the 500 on a lot of trips and it’s done really well. So the 500 is probably city/trips. And then if I had to guess, the 1100 is great on longer trips and more touring type of riding. But those are just my thoughts from owning the 500 only at the moment.

@@Joke89ful possibly! I want to test ride a few bikes and think about what the next best fit for me is. But the 1100 is a REALLY cool bike and has everything I want so 🤷‍♂️ Would you want to see an 1100 on the channel?

Lol a little bit. Not as bad as all the way back to January. Sometimes things get posted out of order and videos that I want to post get set aside for a little while. I’m working hard to catch up! But I enjoy making videos and end up accumulating a lot over the summer. Editing is the bottleneck for sure.
