Interesting insight into the rider's perspective and good for you sticking with your favored sail and getting rewarded for it!

Have been using the same Starboard + NeilPryde combo since 2013 and never look back. While the boards in some years need a bit time to get used, then the sails are always exactly what I've been expecting from NP. All sizes have the same harness lines position - in case you use the same boom for different sails, you just change the length of the boom and thats it. I have always been fast in relatively lower conditions, but I truly believe that NP sails with enormous amount of grunt is one of the reason. And also ZFINS => SLM S - - (double minus) fins that are beast in low-medium wind conditions.

Yup!! I believe there are quite a few windsurfers out there with this combo sail/board :-)

Nice video! And thank you for answering my question 8:07 even though it wasn’t really about your sponsoring situation. Btw I just saw that I wrote collor instead of colour 😅

Very interesting story and have same opinion regarding Isonics incombi with NP Racing Evo12. Would be nice if in next video you can give some rigging tuning tips about EVO12 and Evo 13. Also nice would to know difference between the 12 and 13 version. Looking forward and Greetings 🤙

Well Nico, great footage, and , from personal experience, starboard are great boards and neil pryde make great sails. Difference in sailbrands is personal preference, just compare audi to bmw to mercedes, or even alfa , all fast cars to 100 km/hour but different experience, i am heavier rider and like grunty power of atlas and fusion, have tried other brands, have more of of or have more flex but miss bite. Personally, i like my car to be tuned, so you always have power in nasty situations. Giving the soul factor above the money means your opinion is trustworthy. Now go test bigger atlas and biggest kodes for us, the audience, curious on pro opinion vs my feedback. And maybe compare atlas pro to hd to normal. And like your matesurfyzzz, try different masts incl carbon percentage and rdm vs sdm And fin set up, biggest thrusters small mid vs small trus and bigger center Keep up the good work Nico,

Can you make a video on how you store the gear at home and on the road. And most of all what you do with the sails to dry, get salt off? And maybe what is good and bad for the sails with drying them?

Nice idea, I'm just changing my storage set up a bit. I think we will film it 🙂

Hey Nico! How does such sponsorship work? Do u have all of that juicy gear for promoting and riding exclusively on NP for free? Or you just get a big discount for the gear and still have to have a massive budget to compete at the top level?

Nico have you tried many ( or any) other sail brands recently? If so, what did you like/ not like as compared to your NP sails? If Severne had come to you with a sponsorship deal, do you think you would have switched, If nothing else but to maintain the Starboard board/sail brand consistency?

No I haven't tried a lot to be honest. Some during Starboard board development last year and some others at a windsurf center. Some of it was nice, some was very disappointing. I don't like to go into details about what I felt about which brand. Overall one can say that most sail brands are making decent sails. You can just feel that the extra amount of development and prototypes and the talented people at Neilpryde are making a difference in the product. And I would say the same thing about Starboard, having experienced both brands philosophy and daily business by myself. Innovation and thinking outside the box is in their DNA. So I'm definitely proud to be on this combo. On the other hand, being on NeilPryde doesn't make my working life for Starboard easier. 😅 For example, instead of using the sails available at the Testcenter in Thailand I have to bring my own.

How did Combat sail change from 2020 to 2022?
@BoardLifeNico
@BoardLifeNico 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I can just look at the technical specs of the 2022 and it looks like the power fuse layers have been improved (we also have them in racing sails now) and the materials in the top. What I can tell you better about is the feeling. The pressure feels more distributed throughout the whole sail and less concentrated on the back hand. You can feel it pretty much every situation… more control in jumping, gusts, wave riding. Feels quite nice 😊

Are the brands seeing more "benefit" of sponsoring you as a professional windsurfer or a popular windsurfer who has a massive following and quite a lot of influence?

Great video Nico. Really like the chat and the content. I’m always concerned people will switch off on more “chat” based content but I think I’ll try some more based on this. Have you subscribed to our channel yet? 😀🤙💥

Yup, I had the same concern, but if the topic is good and you bring some interesting statements and arguments it's like a podcast. I myself listen a lot to people talking about stuff I'm interested in, for example while cooking, driving etc. Hope the second channel can be something like this to the windsurfing community.
