As a makeup artist I agree with this. I would have someone do my hair too but I’m pretty picky with my hair lol

Went to Sephora, got my face did how I liked it, took a picture, bought the products that were color-specific, then had a bridesmaid who loves makeup handle it for me. The only mistake was the lip stain. It was *not* sufficiently kiss proof and I looked like a clown briefly between photos and reception. But my bridesmaid fixed me up!

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CANNOT AFFORD A MAKEUP ARTIST: you do not need one, you will be okay. You can do your own makeup. I got married last Saturday and it was advice like this that kept me up at night worried. I knew I wouldn’t be able to shell out for a makeup artist. I bought waterproof eyeliner and mascara that’s a little higher quality than I usually go for, I practiced a couple times, and I looked amazing. Everything was fine. Sure it’s nice of you can get one, but if you can’t- don’t sweat it

True! someone told my sister do not try smth new if you're doing your own! You might not know how to do it properly or it might look bad or take multiple tries and make you stressed, etc. Go w a look you've done plenty of times before, keep it simple, or practice months in advance so you have it down to a T.

@@zzyzxzzyzx that’s great advice. Over my practice rounds I tried out different colors to find the ones that best complimented my coloring, I would go take my massive mirror outside and practice in natural lighting because we got married outside. I actually did my own hair too and I didn’t do any trials for that… haha but I pulled off an intricate half up hairstyle that I made up in the moment 🤣

I did my own makeup for my wedding, all my nerves were spent the day before. So i was super calm prior to getting married

Had many friends do their own and it's a mix bunch of reactions. Some were content, some were super happy, some were meh because they didn't really wear makeup, and some were so upset they didn't do the MUA. Just gotta find the things you think/know you can do and for what you can't, pay for it or do without. The friends who were unhappy with their good makeup skills continue to gripe about their photos and not getting a MUA. They still looked beautiful but it's the one or the major regret they have to this day years later.

As someone who never wears anything more than blush, I still can’t decide if I want to wear makeup at my wedding, I do still have a lot of time left because I’m not even in a relationship, but I know if I do it will be by a professional🥴😅

I say go if that's what you're used to then barefaced! you don't have to worry about tears, sweat, lipstick stains, transfer, etc. and it's one less thing to worry about! But then again it's your one excuse to go all out and get glammed up 💪😤

I'm no bride or photographer so take this with a grain of salt but typically, a photoshoot without makeup would enhance all the stuff that you don't want to enhance, light makeup would look like no makeup, and a somewhat heavier makeup would not look heavy at all. Makeup also brings some colour in and enhance your beauty. And if you don't wear makeup often, it will also make you feel more special for the day. But if you don't want makeup, then it's fine. Just some lipstick would suffice, or maybe add a bit of waterproof eyeliner, mascara, eyebrows if you want to, and you won't have to worry about sweat and oil smearing your makeup. Nothing undesired showing up too clearly on photos can't be fixed with the power of photoshop. And in real life, as long as you have good skin and is happy and comfortable, you'll be practically glowing

Never was into make up especially how a lot of make up artists do thick make up which I hate lmao But for my wedding I'm gonna do my own make up and do color correction and eye liner and call it a day lmao

I did my best friends makeup and I must say, she looked perfect. And her makeup stayed even after the cake- face smash. I was so honored to make her look so perfect

While you don't need a make up artist, even when DIYing there may be some things you choose to spend the money on. I paid for hair and makeup because I'm not great at doing either. But I have friends who are practically professionals and they have been done their own.

My bridal face was £150 (in 2016). Included the artist travelling to our slightly remote location and, as it was her own business and turned out the best I've ever looked, I didn't mind paying that.

My sister got her makeup done and we all agreed her eyebrows were bad, so dark they dominated the photos 💀 but if you know a good makeup artist then yeah 100% agree! imma go bareface if I get married tho, too stressful 😂
