I've got no roots, but my home was never on the ground.
This song from Alice Merton, greatly inspired me to compose this video.
I've been moving a lot the past years. While I never needed a fixed and long term home to be happy, today things are very different.
I chose to share a bit more of my story with you. Telling you why I still can't afford a home, and how I find happiness in this "vulnerable" housing situation.

I feel a kindred connection when I hear your words, they sound like echoes in my own experience. I have been stubborn to figure out how to plot my own journey and not succumb to become just another faceless cog of the giant wheel driven by the promise of empty wealth and a soul starved of growth. I have had to redefine success, I once believed it was measured in material gains, things and a large bank account, and of course, independence and free will. Well, it's nice to have things that improve comfort to a point, but too much comfort can stifle your growth and make you complacent. Being independent of thought, making decisions from the voice inside, showing kindness always, and making a contribution that bears integrity and creativity have become my cornerstones of success, and to always be flexible in my beliefs and convictions....no one knows everything, and knowledge is always evolving. Bringing love to life is the highest duty, learning to love every phase ,even the difficult ,brings fulfillment. Thank you for sharing the light and beauty you bring.

Your message resonates so high within me...I constantly feel like I am searching for home, my roots any sense of groundedness; I thought relocating back to where my family lives and where I was born would bring a sense of belonging and especially after having a child; however, after many years this has not happened. I long to feel a part of something...what? I don't know yet...I travel or romanticize different places around the world thinking those places can be home but I'm still searching. Too, the superficial world does not interest me, but some things are nice, but they aren't my life goals. I only recently discovered this channel and I only wish I could be as brave as Verdant Vanille and admire her bravery and honesty in her life journey and bringing me/us along for the ride...

My most beloved father passed away on 5th August 2021 because covid-19 virus, it's hit me up fall down and my lowest point in my life, my mother passed away in 1994 when I was 9. I have no sibling. But after I read your lines : " I will not let my history interfere with my destiny", "Stop being the victim of the circumstances" "I try to force my spirit to let go of what I can't control " "Cultivating now in mindfulness, trusting the magic universe to heal my wounds" Those lines peaceful 🤭😅🥰, but sometimes all motivation quotes, proverb or whatever its name are not enough to cope my grief.

Nice presentation, relaxing, thank you. The last two years have taught me, I don't need much to survive, Least of all the trappings of a corrupt society and it's drive to use me up and wear me out. I've done hard labor in mining, gas & oil and the military, I'm using what pepper I have left to rebuild my body and spirit from the injuries. Also I would look into an off grid tiny house as an option to start off a place of your own that you can work on a little at a time to convert into something more comfortable . Thanks for this clear reminder :-) Words get deeper by the day, but I cannot always expect others to receive the same.. ( which makes me feel alone, in a strange way) The only thing left to me, is a silence before and a silence after the word said..which makes one ponder..atleast I hope.:-) And a word said, without being questioned, brings never the energy of clearness. While we know, meanwhile, a repetition of it would be dishonest to ourselves and can't be done. So there you are again, my World, alone. 100%. I feel you so much. Same same same. Just was pondering about it yesterday. How I never really felt home or belonging anywhere. Except within myself. Which is the greatest gift actually. But I've also been dreaming of my own little sustainable off-grid cabin in nature for many years now. I see myself dancing in the garden, hugging the trees. Yet the time hasn't come yet. I had a good job in the IT industry for 20 some years, but it provided no real satisfaction. I wanted to find out what happens if I take everything away? the job, the reputation, the certificates, the status. Take all that away and what do I have left? That's what I wanted to know and it's been 7 years since I worked last. By the way, do you teach French?

@@VerdantVanille You have good filmmaking skills and sensibility, thats for sure. But people have to know this is fiction, as a short film or movie. Its just a different genere. Having a standard job does not necesarily make you unhappy (even more if you really help people) and going to the countryside without a roof does not necesarily makes you happy. Actually living in the forest can be so rewarding but It is also hard, and depending on the country you need some money to live. Its really strange to me to hear someone that constantly speaks about freedom but at the same time filming a lot of KZfaq videos. I think nowadays a quite standard job IS earning money by KZfaq. Its ok to get inspired by any video but people need to know this is fiction. I Will add that a share purpose in Life IS needed and that "moving on" is not the solution to eveything. Its a quite individualistc point of view (even if she thank people), its all about her being admire by some type of essence. She just mixes some bits of "wisdom" she gets from another places and mix them so she vives the inpression she is a wise soul. We as audience we like to believe a beautiful sensitive woman is living like that, she explotes peoples fantasiee, as many other KZfaqrs. She is just doing a job.

I got a land, I got a house, I've poured my much of my resources in building the house then suddenly there was this court case that questioned my ownership of the land & of course the house. I am thankful I am a nomad by heart spending most of my time along the road cherishing nature experiences. You are blessed & surrounded with God's nature's gift. Cherish it, rich experience is the best gift ever, not the land, not the house

I love your energy. I've been living alone for 3 years and 10 hours away from my family. It's hitting me hard right now since my "roots" haven't settle in. I miss my family so much but I've gotten so far in my life. I'll let go and eventually find peace

Vanille, I just recently discovered your channel. Your slow, pensive, wistful, melancholy just reaches out through the internet and touches many of us. I am part of the rat race. I continue on in what may be a self delusional view that “just a little more” will be enough to crash through that wall that separates emotional desperation from hedonic comfort. But I know better: I can’t escape those dark thoughts in my mind. I’m a cynic and a stoic. I know it’s all empty. And yet, my ego still holds me by the neck. Maybe it’s a male thing. Maybe it’s foolishness. I see your channel and I see a vintage into a spiritual unknown, so to speak. You’ve spoken about your struggles with money, diet, and your health. I, like many, am moved by your forthrightness. You’ve give this lawyer much to think about. I thank you. You have me yearning for a quieter life without the noise and the deception and facade. But perhaps that’s all a dream. Because I can’t think of a single “successful” person I personally know who earned that: it was either just given to them, or they were too dim to know anything but dumb bliss that comes from ignorance. You clearly don’t have that. Artists don’t have that. Take care of yourself. We’re all watching and wishing you the best.

I hope you find your little place in the world ! Pride is a very strong emotion i know it all to well. I am slowly digging up my roots from my life long grounding , friends, family. Its hard on the nerves at times but my path has changed for peace and serenity. I am back home for a few days taking care of the yard , garden and bills .. back off to the mountains this weekend coming up to work on my property . I often ask myself that, and the only answer I can come up with is they use the same techniques charity shamers use to get people to open their wallets. They make gullible people think that they owe them something because they produce a 10 minute video every few days or once a week. Even the term donate is a mind control technique, because it is associated with charities and people in desperate need for financial help. Think about it. You give a waiter in a restaurant a tip for their services but if youtubers said “Don't forget to leave me a tip.” That sounds nowhere near as appealing as “Don't forget to donate because it really helps me out.” I've even heard what could almost be described as threats as well. “Don't forget to donate on Patreon so I can keep making videos.” As if they'll go away forever if you don't donate. Many of them are convinced a being a youtuber is a career, when really they are e-beggars mostly. It's so unfair people like nurses who do an important job saving lives get paid so little yet youtubers become millionaires for nothing by comparison

To wreck havoc on themselves and the world at large. The greatest power that wisdom teaches is to exercise the power of words carefully. I agree with the comment above…KZfaq put you in my “feed”. I usually don’t like these types of videos because I do not believe it is a single being doing all this work that it takes to accomplish all you have done, but after seeing you only have a few videos I hope you are real and it is you alone doing all this work, that would give me hope……I have yet to start to video due to lack of time. Your work with healing is good, the art you have put together absolutely talks and is very strong even through a video.

I related with every word you said ,I'm also at a very similar same place as you and was struggling with peoples opinion about me , because in this new world they achieve their goals faster and then label us who have an authentic and sustainable dream that requires more effort and time as failures ,just when I started having doubts about myself and my value I came across this amazing video , I'll definitely be rewatching it in the future. I felt the words that you have spoken in my very being. It is truth that I know, but have not practiced enough of. I never felt at home. But like you said, home is within. That is what can bring peace within ourselves. Because of this, it radiates out of you and can touh those that witness it. When you are glowing with this light, you can manifest just about anything you desire. Living in such a chaotic world, it's easy to make your light dim if your not too careful. This also will radiate out of you and people feel this energy. I also would like to thank you. I always feel like you know what my soul is longing to hear in order to jumpstart my life. You are truly a blessing. 😇

Tough gig trying to live on the outside, in a world that requires cash for most choices. Living off a bank account for a while, you start to notice the downward drift of funds. A desire to continue living on the outside necessitates replacement cash (food / tools / items that wear out.) The issue is that most of the planet has been colonised by governments and institutions that own the land, cost money and require money to function. It’s really hard to escape from the need for cash flow. Having said that, I hope you find your tribe, your place and thanks for sending some cheery thoughts out on the ether, look forward to your next communication. Your video de-stressed me today; I got a bird who is exploring the inside of my blocked up chimney, was causing me stress, luckily, I think it managed to escape on its own, so I don’t have to get up on a ladder. I think life is about learning to avoid trauma.

I stumbled here recently. I really appreciate your in many ways poetic style about you. And artistic. I find it interesting as well when stumbling here recently that I was thinking various thoughts similar and a big decision to make in life which somehow resonates with your words and experiences. Lastly kudos to you. Wish you the best. I chose to pray for you and also send you good thoughts into the universe. I felt like you may require it, maybe, maybe not. But kindred spirits I feel are always welcome. In all this, without seeming negative, or taking away from the positive words already spoken into the air, I feel a sense of worry for you. Mainly because I just don't believe men or women are built to live alone too long. I mean we have many documented incidents of men and women stranded on some remote island and went bonkers over the years.... Just take care of yourself... not everyone in this world can be trusted. I never felt roots either. I also accepted and went with the flow. Pray for angels to watch over you.
