It's comic relief/a break. Compare it to all the traumatic, unsanitary, and just the weird events that take place in Marvel comics. Quite frankly, if the character is impractical, then fine, don't have them in a situation to make it anti-climatic.

She adds a well written and fun character. She's handled better than most characters of her type. Not everything needs to contribute to a major overall story to be good.

I feel like gwenpool is more of a commentary on the state of comics as a whole than like a standalone character. Shes literally a reskin of a wildly popular character. The main conflict towards the end of the original series is that she needs to become a villain to avoid having her series being cancelled but shes bad at it. She literally got retconned to become a mutant so she could still get issues IN UNIVERSE. Its especially ironic because the catalyst for this last bit is Ms. Marvel questioning her actions, a character I feel some of these things line up with (mutant retcon). But regardless i think shes interesting.

Shes bound to the will of her writers and the popularity of her comics. Thats why deadpool bet her with ease

Sometimes, it's nice to just have something that's fun and goofy. It doesn't have to be serious and if the character ever does appear in something serious then the obvious answer to why they didn't fix everything: the writers said so. Comic relief is a thing for a reason, a pallette cleanser for all the darker stories. Some comic relief also have their own serious stories (Deadpool for instance).

The Amazing World of Gumball introduces a concept called “The Void”, where every bad idea goes, and is essentially erased from existence. The writers could writer her falling into a similar dimension if they’d realized her comics weren’t selling well enough. They’d literally write it to where they themselves erase her from the comics, and she just wakes up outside her house and realized she’d been missing for 10 years. I don’t hate the character or like her, just saying, if the writers needed to, that’s a way they could end her story. Because she’s really just a pink knock off of Deadpool if you think about it. Very few writers can writer a successful fourth wall breaking character that feels natural.

I enjoy her story well enough. It's well-written and they balanced her powers out with drawbacks and consequences. As far as power level goes, she's far more limited compared to some other reality warpers since her near-omnipotence is unstable (acknowledged to depend on the author) and temporary on a large scale (major changes to continuity she forcefully causes will get retconned). I can see why someone wouldn't care about her as a part of the larger Marvel universe, but I think her story in isolation was far more interesting given its focus more on her internal existential issues caused by having meta knowledge and reality warping powers. I think it comes out, at least in her better books, as a very engaging story.

I think of her story to be very great. A person from the real world thinking that she can do whatever she wants because she thinks the Heros will save the day and it will work out in the end. So she acts all care free around characters and in life and death situations she is just calm until she finds out that the Heros don’t always win that some times the villains win and that even though she knows they aren’t real from where she’s from they are real in there. Even though it’s been done many times it’s still a unique way of telling one’s character and story

I like her as her own self contained thing that lets the writers play with meta stuff and show off cool ideas involving manipulating panels and stuff. She’s a genuinely cool concept with a cute design

Stories about characters being transported from real world to works of fiction can be engaging. But only when main characters don’t have any “fiction bending powers” and exist in the constraints of the fictional universe.

Best way to put it she's a non-canon comic relief her impact on the story isn't meant to be significant but seeing as you are someone who is an archivist in comics by nature I can see that as frustrating as you like your stories to have a degree of logic in its canon and narrative. you don't like a character who sort of has no rhyme or reason to their existence because it goes against your comfort grain and that's perfectly fine! also appreciate the fact you never called her bad, just over hyped

I think her character serves as a guilt-free self insert character for all readers, because she can make as many 4th wall jokes as she likes without it damaging her character arc and her intensive knowledge makes her intrinsically more powerful than a bunch of other characters. She doesn't suffer from Deadpool's nihilism because she has a true grasp of what her impact is. While her character is quite annoying on a meta level, i think she provides a nice break from characters burdened with insane powers and the danger looming god complexes - cough, Reed Richards, cough.

Not everyone likes the serious nature of some other characters in other comics. They like the jokes and the action. Characters like Gwenpool is perfect for these people, she's a relief character. Dude, the whole point of Gwen pool is that she’s limited with her powers she’s limited to what she already knows. It’s not like she already knows everything she doesn’t know how to fight Deadpool because in her words, she doesn’t read Deadpool comics, so that’s why she can’t just change your storyline and you’re making that up it’s never said anywhere that she can change your storyline. She can only like go to different comic pages and most of the time she can’t do that because she has Limits

Gwenpool is only a Comic / Manga Character due to the Fact of her, in a way, Reality Warping Capabilities. She won't ever be a part of any Marvel live or Animated series due to the fact that her powers only work if we read it on her own Comic / Manga Book. Her Character is supposed to be like Deadpool at the Start, but will slowly change to the point that we, the readers, would understand the lifestyle of the so called Background Characters. If they wish to add Gwenpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Animated Series, they have no other choice but to completely Change her powers into Something Similar, Probably like something what movie I could remember when a boy was able to get in and out of the Movie he's watching through having a Golden Ticket, or like how the Viewtiful Joe Powers work, but with a few differences.

I actually like Gwenpool and 4th wall breakers. But only when the series was meant to be a comedy. Deadpool worked fine back when he was mostly sidelined but the more he becomes mainstream with actual involvement to the arc, the more outputting his 4th wall breaks become. Recently, Deadpool's having a more serious story so they needed Gwenpool to reintroduce gag comedy. I like gag comedy but given her "capabilities", I want her to stay away from major story events.

And midway through I realize you didn’t actually read the comic She factually cannot erase people from existence. She tried on some villain and they came back a few days later. She also has never once straight up completely changed reality, only altering it by traveling through panels. You are also missing the meta commentary on the eternal and sometimes unloveable struggle of an artist which is what the comics is actually about The only vaguely correct point is that she doesn’t work too well in other stories because there’s too much and she works best in her own solo comic. Thing is there’s literally no problem with that you don’t need 100 characters for a good story.

I can understand what bro is saying, we don't need her because she doesn't contribute much to the main comic storyline. The only defense she has is that she's not supposed to be taken as serious as some other character like Spider-Man or Captain America, she's just here to give us a break from the brutal story of other Marvel characters. In fairness, she's on some degree a meta commentary on how a comic fan *would* interact with a story when dropped in, and in that context, it shows that at least Marvel has a better opinion of the moral character of their fanbase than DC does, considering DC's equivalent is Superboy Prime... I don't think I need to explain how much worse of people that means DC assumes its audience to be.

I do not see the issues you are talking about. She doesn't need to add anything, or do I need to mention the list of DC F tier villians that add absolutely nothing till they get given a new backstory and some plot armour.
